Dear Girlfriend, I am a 30 year old engineer. I have my own place and I ‘m doing fairly well. The only thing missing is a wife. Don’t get me wrong, I date, but I have not found the one for me. Well, there’s one particular female I had been keeping my eye out for. I first laid eyes on her about a year ago at the Soul Beach Festival. About 6 months ago I saw her at the Club.. We danced 4 songs straight, I bought her a drink, we had a short but decent conversation and I dipped. I did not want to come off sweating her too hard and another female I had been dating was in the club too, so I had to lay low. I did not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. However, I watched her from across the room and I liked the way she carried herself. Some how she left before we had a chance to exchange numbers. After that, every time I’ve gone out, I was hoping to see her. Finally this past weekend I ran into her again. We danced, I bought her a couple of drinks and then we did the breakfast thing. This time I was not going to let her get away. I had been thinking she may be the one, but guess what, after breakfast and coffee she pulled out her cigarettes. I was so disappointed.

I hate the smell of smoke. I have never even kissed a smoker. To me this is a sign of weakness and a person who goes with the crowd to fit in. Why else would you smoke cigarettes?

This lady was everything I thought I wanted until I found out she smokes cigarettes. What do you think? I haven’t called her, but I still can’t get her off my mind.

No Cigarettes Dear No Cigarettes, You ever heard the saying you snooze you loose. Go ahead and call her, before someone else does and you have to wait another year to get close to her. Don’t dismiss her because she smokes. People quit smoking everyday.

Everyone has there little short comings and vices. No one’s perfect. At least her vice is on the surface and you already see what’s wrong with her.

Do let her know you do not like the smoke and you generally do not date women who smoke cigarettes. Say it without being condescending.

When I met my husband, he smoked and I let him know this was a turn off for me. He eventually quit and have been married for 39 years. My father smoked cigars all during my childhood, but he was a wonderful father and he was my hero. So I grew up being annoyed yet tolerant of smokers. That’s why I can truly relate to your dislike of cigarettes. It is a nasty, funky habit and reeks havoc on the teeth, breath, clothes, and furnishings. I hated all the cigarette butts and dirty ash trays. My all time pet peeve was seeing someone throw a butt out of a car window littering the streets. I really get teed off when friends come to my home and throw butts in my front yard like they got a genie who is going to magically come behind them and pick them up.

On a positive note, most smokers want to quit and you may be all the inspiration she needs to succeed. A good thing about cigarette smokers is they are oral, which could make out for a real satisfying sexual relationship. Most people smoke when they are bored or nervous, maybe you can give her something else to put in her mouth. Always remember no one is perfect, not even you. So, don’t spend your whole life looking for someone that is because you may wake up at forty five and find yourself still alone looking for Miss Right.

Then when you do select her, she may nick and pick to find all the reasons you won’t do for her. Believe me your choices get slimmer the older you get.

Find and ask a 50 year old bachelor who once thought he was the ish.

Pyles Honored for 50 Years in Kappa Alpha Psi

Tampa native Elliott Pyles was recently awarded with the 50-year plaque for his service in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, inc. by the members of his current chapter Tampa Alumni.

Pyles, 71, graduated from Middleton High School in 1966 before going to Tennessee State University.

On Nov. 22, 1969, Pyles became a member of the Alpha Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is currently a Life Member of the Fraternity.

“I wanted to be part of an organiza-

tion that was going to give back to the community,” Pyles said. “Kappa has opened a lot of doors for me. I am blessed to be a Kappa.”

Pyles graduated from Tennessee State with a degree in political science/history and served in the U.S. Army before working in the Florida State Correctional System for 25 years. He also has a master’s degree in criminal justice. Pyles later worked at Memorial Middle School before retiring in 2013.

UNITY GARDEN Coming To West Tampa The Unity Garden will bring fresh produce, high functioning garden systems while also being an educational and social hub: Tampa Heritage Initiative (THI) a subsidiary of Urban Progress Alliance’s non-profit organization is building a community garden in the historic city of West Tampa. This project is expected to be completed Summer 2020. The garden is located at 2307 W. Beach Street. It will feature fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, rain water collection system as well as hydroponics. The plan is to make the garden a social and educational hub for citizens of all ages. A special program will be created to teach children 3-17 years of age the importance of gardening as a self-sufficient practice.

You can expect events and a wealth of knowledge to be at this location.

Community gardens are necessary because they not only provide fresh produce but also a space to cultivate relationships within the community it services. The creation of this garden was formed as a solution to the food desert created from gentrification in the West Tampa area.

A blossoming story illuminates Unity Garden. An elderly woman came to Urban Progress Alliance in need of assistance with a dilapidated family owned house. Our organization’s CEO Andre Hill, Sr. went with Ms. Limehouse to city council to advocate on her behalf. Although we were unable to save the house due to cost we were able to demolish the house at a reasonable price and stop the fines.

Tampa Heritage had been in search of a lot

for a community garden as part of our self-sustain ability mission. As a result of our parent company, Ms. Limehouse was more than happy to allow us her lot to place the garden on. Thus, the vision for Unity Garden came alive. The story continued as we fought to get a Special 1 Use zoning added to the lot per the City of Tampa. This process took us from April 2019 until September 2019 when the zoning was finally approved. With the approval on hand and the excitement of the community we are ready to move this project along. We received grants and donations to get us this far.

We then were approached by another organization to assist in their mission to help a local community. In this we created the GardenTrust4Us petition to request the City of Tampa to provide funds to start more community gardens in blighted and food desert areas around the city. We have reached 292 of 300 signatures as of recent. Our next step is to sit down with the Mayor and put a plan together for a Special District specifically to cater to the community gardens. Tampa Native Karyn Rose Wins Award at Sundance Film Festival Tampa native, KarynRose Bruyning served as producer and executive producer for the film that won the Short Film Jury Award US Fiction at the Sundance Film Festival 2020 in Park City, Utah. Sundance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in the United States.

The film “- ship” (pronounced hypen ship) is a coming of age short film about a teenager who learns contradictory lessons of manhood and masculinity at a family funeral. It

was written and directed by Morehouse graduate, Terrance Daye.

“When they called the film, Terrance and I looked at each other square in the eyes for a quick moment, hugged, he cried, I screamed. We won,” said Bruyning..

Karyn Rose, daughter of Soraya Rouse--- got her start in the Children’s Ministry at Bible Based Fellowship Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur T. Jones, Delma Fryer, director and drama ministry coordinator. Lucinda Askew, Karyn Rose was in the Chil-

dren’s Choir, Sign Choir and well as several holiday productions.

“As Karyn’s mentor, I couldn’t be more proud of her. She pursued her dreams, she never gave up. Greater things are surely coming for this young woman,” said Lucinda Askew.

City of Tampa Launches Super Bowl Text Alerts One Year Ahead of Super Bowl LV Tampa is officially on the clock to host Super Bowl LV and the City is already gearing up for the best Super Bowl yet.

With Super Bowl LIV officially in the books, the spotlight has turned to Tampa to host the biggest annual sporting event in the US—taking place on February 7, 2021 at Raymond James Stadium. Scouts are watching Tampa’s Own #24 Tyson Ward

Tyson Ward , a senior at North Dakota State University, received Summit Conference Player of the Week and is one of the most sought after players in his division. Tyson is a product of the Tampa Bay Community and known to be a player that plays with passion and energy. Tyson graduated from Tampa Prep in 2016, where he was a 1st Team All-State performer.

As a kid, Tyson became a student of the game modeling himself after one of his favorite players, Kobe Bryant and his father Chris Ward. Tyson has worked hard to develop the same Mamba Mentality or approach to the game as Kobe. He even took it as far as wearing the number 24 and always playing in a pair low top Kobe sneakers. “I always thought that Tyson was wearing number 24 because

I wore it in high school” says his dad Coach Chris Ward who is a former professional player, and presently 5 year district champ Coach at Hillsborough High School in Tampa.

Chris Ward is also CoFounder of The Skills Center. -Tampa His dad proudly shares, “Tyson was recruited by North Dakota State University, has led the Bisons in points, rebounds and assists. He finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists vs. North Dakota on Jan. 19, and followed up with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists at South Dakota State on Jan. 22.?

Ward made 11 field goals in both games setting, and then tying, a new career-high.

Tyson Ward is No. 2 in the league (21.2 points per game, Ward is averaging 19.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and shooting 60 percent from the field.

On Record with 1200 Points, 600 Rebounds: Tyson Ward is one of only 10 players in North Dakota State history to achieve that in their college career in Division I. Top 25 Talent: Tyson Ward ranks

among NDSU’s all-time Top 25 in career points (22nd), rebounds (11th), and assists (17th).

Tyson has definitely developed that Mamba Mentality not just to better himself but to make the people around him better as well.

Tyson has conversations with his father daily about defining ones greatness. He has learned that to define his greatness he has to possess the ability to make others better as well. This is something that he has learned from his father and watching Kobe.

Tyson has also watched Kobe off the court as a man. The part where Kobe gives back to his community and is always looking for ways to make an impact in peoples lives. He told his father that Kobe Bryant not only was a great basketball player but he was a great man and person.

Tyson was mesmerized by Kobe’s ability to have an impact on people’s lives that he never met or had a personal relationship with. Kobe was like a super hero to Tyson, a super hero with positive powers.

North Dakota State University made a nice run last season finishing the season to become Summit Conference Champs and land a spot in the NCAA tournament losing to Duke. Tyson is looking forward to leading the NDSU Bisons back to the NCAA tournament again as he embarks on what he calls his Kobe Tour.

Next stop for Tyson will be graduation from North Dakota State University on May 16th 2020 with a degree in Business Finance and a chance to be an NBA player.

Go Ahead and Get your Laugh On Thanks Barbara Days The Gorilla Remover

A man wakes up one morning to find a gorilla on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages and sure enough, there’s an ad for “gorilla removers”.

He calls the number, and the gorilla remover says he’ll be over in 30 minutes. The gorilla remover arrives, and gets out of his van. He’s got a ladder, a baseball bat, a shotgun and a mean old pit bull.

“What are you going to do?” the homeowner asks.

“I’m going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I’m going to go up there and knock the gorilla off the roof with this baseball bat. When the gorilla falls off, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles and not let it go.

The gorilla will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van.”

So the guy puts the ladder up, gets the bat and the shotgun and walks towards the ladder. As he gets to the base of the ladder, he hands the shotgun to the homeowner.

“What’s the shotgun for?” asks the homeowner.

“If the gorilla knocks me off the roof, shoot the damn dog!”

The Beard

A married man was visiting his girlfriend when she requested that he shave his beard. “Oh James, I like your beard, but I would really love to see your handsome face.” James replied, “My wife loves this beard, I couldn’t possibly do it, she would hate me.” “Oh please?” the girlfriend asked again. “Oh really, I can’t,” he replies. “My wife loves this beard!”

The girlfriend asked once more, and he sighs and finally gives in. That night James crawls into bed with his wife while she was sleeping. The wife is awakened somewhat, feels his face and replies, “Oh Michael, you shouldn’t be here, my husband will be home soon!”

Married Folk

A man and a woman, who have never met before, find themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a transcontinental train.

Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, the two are tired and fall asleep quickly - he in the upper bunk and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, he leans over and gently wakes the woman saying, “Ma’am, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m awfully cold.”

“I have a better idea,” she replies.

“Just for tonight, let’s pretend that we’re married.”

“Wow! That’s a great idea!!” he exclaims.

“Good,” she replies. “Get your own damn blanket!”

After a moment of silence, he farted.

“I certainly have to agree with that.” piped-up his obviously long suffering wife. “Henry’s cork has been stationary for years.”

Fast Food

A friend and I were standing in line at a fast-food restaurant, waiting to place our order. There was a big sign posted. “No bills larger than $20 will be accepted.” The woman in front of us, pointing to the sign, remarked, “Believe me, if I HAD a bill larger than $20, I wouldn’t be eating here.”

TheHole

The first guy peers into it and says, “Wow! That looks deep.”

The second guy says, “It sure does.

Let’s throw a few pebbles in there and see how deep it is. We’ll be able to tell the depth by how long it is before we hear the noise of the pebbles landing.”

So they pick up a few pebbles and throw them in and wait. Nothing.

There’s no noise.

The first guy says, “Jeeez. That is really deep. I know, let’s throw one of these great big rocks down there.

Those should make a noise.”

So they pick up a couple footballsized rocks and toss them into the hole and wait... and wait... Again, nothing.

They look at each other in amazement. Then the first guy gets a determined look on his face and says, “Hey, over here in the weeds, there’s a railroad tie. Help me carry it over.

When we toss that sucker in, it’s gotta make some noise.”

So the two of them drag the heavy tie over to the hole and heave it in.

Once again, not a sound comes from the hole.

Suddenly, out of the nearby woods, a goat appears, running like the wind.

It rushes toward the two men, then right past them, running as fast as it’s legs will carry it. Suddenly it leaps in the air and into the hole.

The two men are astonished with what they’ve just seen and look at each other in amazement.

Then, out of the woods comes a farmer who spots the men and ambles over. He asks them, “Hey, you two guys seen my goat out here?”

The first guy says, “You bet we did!

Craziest thing I ever saw. It came running like crazy and just jumped into this hole and disappeared!”

“Nah”, says the farmer, “That couldn’t have been my goat. My goat was chained to a railroad tie.”

The Accident

A man woke up in a hospital after a serious accident and said to the doctor “I can’t feel my legs” the doctor said “ I know, I AMPUTATED YOUR ARMS”

The Rug

A woman was shaking out a rug on the balcony of her 17th floor condominium when a sudden gust of wind blew her over the railing.

“Damn, that was stupid,” she thought as she fell. “What a way to die.”

As she passed the 14th floor, a man standing at his railing caught her in his arms. While she looked at him in disbelieving gratitude, he asked, “Do you suck?”

“No!” she shrieked, aghast.

So, he dropped her. As she passed the 12th floor, another man reached out and caught her.

“Do you screw?” he asked.

“Of course not!” she exclaimed before she could stop herself. He dropped her, too.

The poor woman prayed to God for one more chance. As luck would have it, she was caught a third time, by a man on the eighth floor.

“I suck! I screw!” she screamed in panic.

“Slut!” he said, and dropped her.

The Moral of the Story: “One man’s trash is another mans treasure..”

So just be you.

The Gift

A husband got his mother-in-law a cemetery plot for Christmas. It came with a coffin, tomb stone, the works.

Next Christmas comes by and the husband gets her nothing. When the mother-in-law asks, “Why didn’t you get me a gift?” the husband says, “You haven’t used the one I got you last year!

Bob was playing golf and was having a very good game. At the 12th hole he sat down and began to cry profusely, “What’s the matter Bob” asked his new golf buddy.

My wife of 30 years I often played golf together. She fell dead at this very hole. I can’t forget that horrible day, It was the longest day of my life,from this point on it was hit the it was hit the ball, drag Alice Hit the ball drag Alice
