Whether it’s a selfie with a word or phrase, or a short video, tell us what working at NTMWD means to you. Retirement Announcements James Schreiber Instrumentation Technician - Ozone Written by Rick DeRose – Technical Services Maintenance Supervisor

James and I started working together approximately 14 years ago in the Ozone department of Tech Services and a year later we were the first two supervisors promoted there. He started at NTMWD a few years before me as a water treatment operator but his experience as an instrumentation technician was desperately needed in Tech Services so he quickly came on board over there. James is a dedicated instrumentation technician, water treatment operator and of course a U.S. Marine, and has been an incredible employee and friend. NTMWD, Tech Services and Ozone will all feel a difference when James is retired and no longer zipping into work on his sidecar motorcycle, but he is ready for his retirement, and we all could not be more jealous. I was very appreciative to work with him side by side and ultimately work with him as his supervisor towards the end of his career here. Not only do I appreciate him as a fellow U.S. service member, but I greatly appreciate the stories, his wisdom, knowledge and dedication to our department and ultimately NTMWD. They don't make them like James anymore, be sure to say “Hi” if you see him before he leaves.

Robert Livingston - Transport Driver Mesquite WWTP Written by Larry Whitus – South Mesquite Creek Regional Wastewater Plant Supervisor I

Robert Livingston started his career with North Texas in 1995 as the mechanic at the South Mesquite RWWTP. A few years later he moved into a transport driver position and has seen the Mesquite Plant grow from the old plate and frame for dewatering sludge to belt press and now the new centrifuge and cake silo. Robert will be sorely missed at the Mesquite Plant. Page 8

Russ Mayfield - Transfer Station Supervisor Sedrick Daniels – Transfer Station Manager

It is with great appreciation that we announce the retirement of Russ Mayfield, who has devoted more than twenty years of exceptional service to the North Texas Municipal Water District. Russ’s career began in 1988 with GNB Technologies, later Exide, in Frisco, Texas. He continued to build his experience at State Farm as an insurance adjuster while driving trucks on the side. In December 2005, Russ joined NTMWD, marking the beginning of a long and dedicated chapter of service to our organization. During his time with NTMWD, Russ consistently demonstrated strong commitment, professionalism, and leadership. He started as a driver in 2005, advanced to operator in 2017, and earned the supervisor position at Lookout Transfer Station in 2021. Throughout his career, Russ’s work ethic and dependability have contributed significantly to the success of our operations and the support of our member cities. Outside of work, Russ is a proud father of three daughters and one of four siblings. He enjoys spending his time tinkering with his three pickup trucks and his motorcycle, and he remains devoted to helping his mother with her home and land. Russ often jokes that NTMWD has seen him through one wife and three marriages— highlighting just how much of his life has been intertwined with his service here. Please join us in celebrating Russ’s outstanding career and in wishing him all the best in his well-earned retirement. His presence, leadership, and dedication will be deeply missed, and his contributions will continue to resonate within our organization for years to come.

Workday Spotlight: Absence, Time Tracking, and Scheduling As part of the District’s transition to Workday, employees and managers will use one system to manage time off, leave, time tracking, and work schedules. This will help streamline requests, approvals, and reporting while giving employees easier access to their information. Each card below gives a quick overview of how employees will use Workday, how managers and supervisors will support these processes, and what changes employees can expect.

Scheduling

Time Tracking

Absence

Work schedules will be assigned and maintained in Workday.

Clock in/out, review time, and submit timesheets in Workday.

Request time off and view leave balances in Workday.

Every employee will have an assigned schedule, including rotating two-week schedules where applicable.

Employees who track time will use Workday Web, the mobile app, or kiosk time clock where applicable.

Employees will submit time off requests, manage absences, and view current and future balances in one place.

Supervisors will maintain schedules. Schedules help support pay policies, including holiday pay. Access to maintain schedules depends on assigned system roles.

Daily regular and overtime hours will be visible in Workday. Employees submit timesheets each pay period. Managers review and approve time in the system.

Requests route automatically to your manager. Vacation and sick time will still calculate automatically. Accruals will align with pay periods instead of monthly.
