CAREER EDUCATION CENTER NTHBA Works with the Community to Help Prepare the Future Workforce You spoke and they listened! The Career Educations Center's first Parade of Homes in June 2019 was a success! Our first one-bedroom house was sold and moved to its new home. The proceeds from that sale and generous donations from the North Texas Home Builders Association allowed students to start thinking larger. Architecture students along with guidance from their teacher and the Construction teacher started planning designs for a two bedroom, 1 bath house, with a front porch. Students had to present their floor plans, 3D rendering, and make a model to present in front of a panel ready to ask questions about their design choices. The winning design was chosen and the Construction students began their work. They had a great start, with the house foundation done and structure framed before the Christmas break. Next the Electrical students started placing electrical boxes and all programs had big plans to continue work after Spring Break.
As we know, Covid-19 put the brakes on just about everything, but students will be eager to get back to work on the house when school resumes in August. Potential buyers for this house can buy early and be part of the custom build and work with students to select colors and finishes that fit their preferences. Habitat For Humanity For over twenty years, the North Texas Home builders has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Wichita Falls during their Parade of Homes to raise money and awareness for Habitat. We are proud of our homebuilders in the North Texas Home Builders Association and their supporting members for making a life changing difference in the lives of low-income families in Wichita Falls. This year has been trying for our housing ministry, just as it has been for everyone else in our community. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everything and everyone in some way. The volunteers are almost completely gone from our build site, our Habitat ReStore closed their doors for a period of time during the shutdown. It seems that everyone knows someone who has been sickened or have lost people we love. Habitat has tried to prioritize the health and safety of the people we serve, and the people who help us carry out our mission. Many Habitat homeowners who, through their work as nurses, service employees and other essential workers, have been true heroes of our community. Habitat is blessed by the support that we received since reopening our ReStore on May 1st. We have experienced record sales and donations for our store which provides financial support to our building ministry in Wichita Falls. Volunteers are the lifeblood of Habitat, at this time, we limit “on-site� and other in-person volunteers at the worksite. We look forward to the day when we can fully open up our build site with volunteers to help us build. Our families we serve need us to return, too. The federal government has now delegated decision making regarding reopenings to state and local authorities, and we are following their guidance.Decisions to resume operations will be based the status of the pandemic, directives from state and local governments, and the capacity of our affiliate to modify operations in a way that prioritizes safety. We expect that full resumption of operations will be a phased approach that will take place over a period of time. Habitat makes home affordability a reality for families and breaks the chains of poverty housing. Keeter Custom Homes I began Keeter Custom Homes with the desire to follow in my families footsteps of improving and building new neighborhoods. From a young age I watched as my grandfather built a reputation as a trusted man in the real estate industry. Some of my earliest and best kept memories are of my mother and how she managed the customer service and business side of real estate. That early insight gave me a perspective of just how important the building process is to the homeowner. With knowledge and experience anyone can build a home, but it takes a special kind of person to build a dream come true. I began small but always dreamt big. I purchased my first investment property in 2006 while still a full time student at Midwestern State University. From there, I took all I had learned from my family and implemented those same values and experience into my own business by designing custom remodels and developing an investment portfolio. That has always and will continue to be my approach with Keeter Custom Homes. I educate my clients on the process and how it can benefit them long term. There are some tough conversations to be had at times but anything worth building right requires transparency and communication. I have been building custom homes and designing custom remodels since then and create a personal bond with each one of my clients from step one. Choosing a location, a building plan, and a budget are all part of the education process that I take great pride in. One of the things that I enjoy the most is walking homeowners through each step of the process and educating them on what we do, why we do it, and what makes us stand out from the rest. Part of which is making our homes as energy efficient as possible which provides for short and long term savings for our homeowners. We are a family business. I have been married since 2012 and have two beautiful daughters that enjoy going to each job site to learn and be a part of the process. I love to share with them and make the same memories I once did with my family that gave me the passion to make dreams come true through real estate. I work closely on every project with my Construction Foreman, Ricardo Sandoval, who shares the same vision and passion for Keeter Custom Homes as I do.
