It is both an honor and pleasure for me to welcome you to the NSUAA Virginia Beach Chapter, Inc. – 2023 Green, Gold & White Spring Fling Gala. This year, we are excited to be able to have an event where our members, NSU alumni, families, friends and guests can join us in celebrating life after COVID.
The purpose of this gala is just another opportunity for us to fulfill our mission to provide scholarships and other opportunities to support Norfolk State University by raising funds, providing schol arships, recruiting students, and enhancing its image in the community. We encourage each chapter member to support the Alumni Association’s goals and objectives and to foster a wholesome relationship with all NSU alumni. Tonight, we are also celebrating the Chapter ’s 46th Anniversary. We have so many things to be thankful for tonight. The gala committee has worked diligently to make this evening a memorable one.
I would like to thank each of you for attending this Spring Fling Gala. Our students at NSU are truly our greatest asset today and tomorrow. We would not be able to accomplish what we do without your generosity and support.
I am humbled and excited to serve as the President of the NSUAA Virginia Beach Chapter, Inc. I look forward to celebrating with you during this event. Welcome!

It is indeed a pleasure for me to extend a most cordial welcome on behalf of the City of Virginia Beach. I was delighted to hear that NSUAA, Virginia Beach Chapter chose the beautiful Westin Hotel to sponsor the 2023 Green, Gold, and White Spring Fling. You have made a good choice in selecting Virginia Beach as the site of your event and April is a beautiful time to visit the City of Virginia Beach!
As one of the safest cities of its size in America, Virginia Beach offers an abundance of cultural and recreational opportunities and immediate access to quality Oceanfront establishments. The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art has a marvelous collection of art of our time and offers exhibitions and outdoor art shows. And don’t forget the many events down at the oceanfront.
Town Center is our downtown where you will find many wonderful restaurants, shops, and activities to fill your days and evenings.
We also have excellent parks, such as Red Wing Park, and recreational facilities. We are especially proud of the Virginia Aquarium, which combines hands-on exhibits with over 100,000 gallons of aquariums along with miles and miles of beautiful beaches and scenic waterways.
We are delighted to be a part of an organization that gives Norfolk State University students an opportunity to further their education and make positive impacts in communities across the Hampton Roads Region.
