Alain Teurquetil Designer
and Travis Grant
NSP is one of the world’s largest brands in recreational surfing and stand up paddleboarding. Since 2011 NSP has produced some of the fastest SUP race boards on the planet, quickly racking up some of the most sought after and prestigious titles with the help of national and international athletes.
Our race designer, Alain Teurquetil, first came across stand up paddling back in 2008 when his tandemsurfing buddy came back from Hawaii and decided to leave a paddle with Alain. Finding a paddle board in Australia back then was next to impossible, but another coincidence had Alain meet Dale Chapman. Living just an hour away, Dale was the only shaper on the Gold Coast with an interest in SUP design. Intrigued, Alain spent a lot of time paddling and trying out different concepts that year.
Several months later, Alain was traveling back from Europe and visited the Gold Coast once more. This time, Dale was working on 12’6” shapes and unlimited race boards, which caught Alain’s interest. After trying a 16’ race board, the virus really got a hold of him. Exploring different performance designs together, Alain quickly hit the limitations of his software. A solution came from Shape3D, a software company specializing in surf designs. By tweaking their CAD program beyond the metrics of classic surf and windsurf designs, creating
advanced race boards from design to finish became effortless.
In 2011, team NSP, under the direction of Trent Pedersen (today’s Brand Manager and CEO), along with his team, produced their first production race boards. These boards were later selected by the ISA to be used in 2012 at the ISA SUP World Championships in Peru. From there, NSP, with their boards quickly gaining a reputation for speed, approached Dale to collaborate on a race program for the brand. Under the condition that a top athlete would be signed to promote, test and help develop the race brand, Travis Grant joined the NSP team that same year and history was made.
Travis rode Alain’s winning designs and Dale shaped the prototypes into existence. In 2013 Alain and Dale tested their first 12’6” design in Europe, laying the foundation of NSP’s current racing and touring program. Alain with the help of our pro team continues to design and develop the the NSP race program while Dale focuses his attention on producing some of the most cutting edge foil and surf sup deigns. Together, Alain, Travis and Titouan Puyo created a race program that secured 4 Molokai titles, 3 Carolina Cup victories, with many more to come.
Today, young gun Marcus Hansen represents NSP in the upcoming 2018 ISA World Championships and kicked off his 2018 season with a phenomenal Tahiti win under brutal conditions. New to the team in late 2018, Ty Judson from Australia, will help continue the legacy of NSP‘s well-rounded, winning tradition.
At NSP we respect the environment and the world we play in. We are constantly looking for new ideas and technologies to reduce the impact on our planet as we build surf and SUP boards.
NSP was the first to incorporate shape molded SecureCell EPS blanks in our surf and SUP manufacturing process. The result is almost zero foam dust waste.
NSP Cocomat technology is the world’s first and only Patent Pending construction that uses natural fibers from coconut husks to create a light and strong micro sandwich.
NSP uses green epoxy resin from Sicomin epoxy systems. Sicomin invests considerable resources into innovation and supplying new, environmentally enhanced green epoxy systems based on natural ingredients. NSP Cocomat boards for instance are manufactured with high performance bio epoxy resin, based on no less than 28% of plant-based organics.
Another industry leading innovation by NSP is the use of water based dye pigments in our Cocomat construction. These dyes use zero percent solvents or other toxic additives.
In acknowledgement of NSP’s sustainable efforts and years of implementing new technologies and techniques that help reduce the environmental impact, NSP has partnered with Sustainable Surf’s Ecoboard project. Today, 90% of the NSP line up meets their strict requirements, justifying the use of the highly respected Sustainable Surf Ecoboard logo.
Sustainable Surf is a California-based non-profit charity organization focused on transforming surf culture into a powerful force for protecting the ocean playground. Learn more at: http://sustainablesurf.org.
Harmless Harvest supplies NSP with coconut husks from Organic for Life - Social & Fair Trade Certificated Organic Farms, for use in our Cocomat boards. Learn more at www. harmlessharvest.com.
Harmless Harvest envisions a world where nutritious, clean, organic and healthy food and beverages are the standard rather than the exception; where all people involved in creating the product are treated with fairness; and the planet is treated harmlessly.
In keeping with our pledge to pursue sustainable materials and manufacturing, NSP introduces Flax Fiber Rail technology to the Cocomat series in 2019. This already eco friendly product will benefit from this highly durable reinforced fiber made from the flax seed plant, and help NSP in reducing the use of fiberglass and overall carbon footprint.
PRO CARBON - When winning is all that matters!
• Cutting edge aerospace carbon fibers and ultra-light core materials are combined within our unique vacuum construction, making Pro Carbon the lightest, stiffest and fastest racing construction technology available.
• Featuring a PVC reinforced deck for integrity and carbon rails for stiffness; reducing flex, making the board ultra responsive.
• Carbon Innegra reinforcement adds impact protection in nose and tail for close quarter battles at race starts, beach race finishes and buoy turn sections.
• Pro Carbon is an elite construction technology that is standard in our production race boards allowing you to own exactly the same boards that NSP Pros Travis Grant, Titouan Puyo and Marcus Hansen win on.
The NSP racing team has dominated the Carolina Cup for years now, with riders like Titouan Puyo winning back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017 and Travis Grant coming 2nd in 2016, 2017 and 2018. It is only fitting that we call our latest race board “The Carolina”.
The brand new Carolina excels in all conditions from beach starts, downwind sections, flat-water sections, surf, headwinds, crosswind to gnarly currents. The design builds on key features of the Sonic, our best downwind board to date. A reduced rocker line translates into additional efficiency in flatter conditions, hitting peak performance on flat water, and water with a degree of texture. The Carolina is a winning choice for 90% of all racing conditions mother nature can throw at you.
The Carolina truly excels in flat to medium downwind conditions. Its shape also performs well in upwind and crosswind conditions.
• The lower rocker is derived from the 2018 Sonic 14’0” x 23”.
• For 2019, the Sonic no longer includes the narrower lower rocker that the Sonic 14/23 had in 2018. You can find elements of that shape in the brand new Carolina model.
• The recessed deck allows for a lower centre of gravity and adds stability.
• The wider widths of the Carolina provide a more stable and comfortable ride.
• Wide tail for easy buoy turns.
• Accelerator Vacuum System (AVS) for quick water drain from the dugout standing area.
The NSP 20, 22 and 24 racing fins are designed to deliver top performance: expect excellent tracking, stability, efficiency, speed and easy acceleration.
Special features:
The Carolina comes with neoprene handles and several balanced fixture points. Four AVS holes quickly expel excess water from the dugout. A patented Gore-Tex valve near the GoPro® (or GPS) fixture point prevents a pressure build-up, allowing oxygen to pass but keeping out moisture.

Recessed, course race board that performs all round, in all conditions.
The Ninja’s are all about efficiency, so that you can save as much energy as possible for longer runs.
Thinking back several years ago, paddle racers were only given displacement hulls and we surfed them, we raced downwind, and we used them in flat-water conditions.
Today, we offer the NSP Ninja, giving paddlers the option of an incredibly fast flat-water shape. But the best part, it works in water with textured conditions as well. The increasing demands of flatwater racers who are eager to race even more narrower shapes made us create the Ninja in 21” to 24” widths.
• Recessed deck for a low centre of gravity, adding stability.
• Increased widths provide a more stable and forgiving ride.
• Wide tail for easy buoy turns.
• Accelerator Vacuum System (AVS) for quick water drain from the dugout standing area.

A predominately flat-water board that excels in chop and small bumps.
The 2019 Sonic is designed specifically as an open-water, downwind race board but it also performs very well in upwind and crosswind conditions.
It doesn’t compromise for maximum performance, with a pintail and recessed deck, the centre of gravity is lowered. Along with an optimised width, this is the most stable Sonic to date.
The Sonic performs best when you hit some chop or string together bump after bump on big ocean swells.
The 14’x25.5” model is a more stable and comfortable version of the 14’x24”. If a rider is not used to being in front of the pack in an elite field or simply battles for a win in a specific age group, this athlete will most certainly be faster on the 14’x25.5” than the 14’x24”.
• All 2019 Sonics use the same rocker line as the 2018 models, (14’x24” and 14’x25.5”) and the 14’ x 23” has been redesigned to be in line with its larger counterparts.
• Pin-tailed with more nose rocker to suit downwind conditions.
• The 2019 Sonic is using a new concept, a bottom shape that combines the added stability of the 2018 model and the extreme glide of our dominating Molokai designs.

The most versatile and user-friendly board in the NSP range
If you want to kick turn easily, if you want to play in waves, if you want to downwind, and if you are not yet comfortable with a recessed deck, or if you simply prefer to race on a flat deck board, the NSP Puma is for you.
Initially designed for beach racing, the Puma’s have evolved into very capable downwinders and flat-water boards.
The 2019 Puma features 2 new 12’6 and 2 new 14’ designs that complement the accomplished carry over models. The Puma board range offers a model to suit all abilities and conditions. This board will never let you down whatever the conditions throw at you. It excels in bumps and wave conditions.
Our world-class Surf Race 20 is the more appropriate fin for beach racing, buoy racing and the ability to pull off consistent kick turns in the middle of a race or in Travis’ words; “It’s the fin better suited for turning and surfing.”

14’ Series – the narrower the board, the straighter the rocker.
• 14’x231/2” – our pros use this board for surf and beach racing, but this shape works just as well in flat to downwind racing conditions.
• 14’x243/4” – an intermediate width with the same concept as the 231/2” to fill the gap with the 14x26.
• 14’x26” – featuring a little less rocker in 2019 than in 2018, and a slightly different bottom shape allows a lot more maneuverability in the surf.
• 14’x28” – the same as 2018, but now in Pro Carbon.
12’6” Series
• 12’6”x23” and 12’6”x22” feature the same concept and rocker and narrowed down for lighter paddlers.
• We expect the speed of the Puma 12’6”x23” on flat water to be similar to the 2018 Ninja 12’6”x231/2”, while we increased its versatility.
• The Puma 12’6”x24” and 12’6x26 remain unchanged for 2019.
The Molokai is named and designed after one of the most demanding races – The Molokai 2 Oahu.
NSP team rider Travis Grant won this legendary title 4 times. His experience in this grueling race, combined with the designs of Alain Teurquetil accumulated in the 2019 Molokai Unlimited Pro Carbon, an elite shape that performs in any downwind, upwind, side-wind or semi-flat to choppy race you find yourself in.
• Balanced rocker to save energy.
• Integrated steering system.
• The 17’2”x26” flat deck is unchanged.
The 17’2”x23” recess uses a new concept bottom that combines the added stability of the 2018 and the extreme glide these shapes are known for. This allows you to link bump after bump in an effortless way.
Key design elements can be found in the 2019 14’ Sonic as well. The newly introduced 17’2”x25” recess also shares important design elements of the 17’2”x23”, but offers a more comfortable racing experience.
Rudder:
Our world-class The Molokai comes with a winning carbon race rudder designed by Trent Pedersen.
Proven 100% Spectra® steering lines and an easy to operate carbon steering pedal. 2x neoprene handles on several balanced fixture points. Four AVS holes quickly expel excess water from the dugout. A patented GoreTex valve near the GoPro® (or GPS) fixture point prevents pressure build-up, allowing oxygen to pass but keeping out moisture.
