Available to people with a severe and prolonged mental or physical impairment� the disability credit is a non-refundable tax credit used to reduce income tax payable on your income tax and benefit return� this amount includes a supplement for persons under 18 years of age at the end of the year� All or part of this amount may be transferred to your spouse or commonlaw partner, or another supporting person� It can be

Seniors over 65 who drive for pleasure-use only may qualify for a 25% discount on their Basic Autoplan� If you have been approved for a fuel tax refund under the BC government Fuel tax refund program for Persons with Disabilities, then you may also qualify for a 25% discount on your Basic Autoplan, even if you don’t drive the vehicle you are insuring�

the Provincial government offers a sales tax credit of up to $75 per person for low income families or individuals residing in BC on December 31 of the year for which the income tax return is submitted� this refundable tax credit is claimed when filing your t-1 Income tax return�

If you are an owner or lessee of a motor vehicle and are a person with a qualifying disability, you may be eligible for a refund of tax paid on fuel purchased for your vehicle� registration is required (form FIN 119)� After this has been accepted an application for refund will be sent to you (FIN 472)�

Regular Premium Assistance this program offers subsidies based on an individual’s net income (or a couple’s combined net income) for the preceding tax year� to apply, you must complete and return an application form to hIBC� For MSP beneficiaries receiving premium assistance, MSP pays $23 per visit for a combined annual limit of 10 visits per calendar year for the following services: acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, naturopathy, physical therapy and non-surgical podiatry� All supplementary benefit providers, including optometrists, may charge supplemental fees to their patients, provided the patient is advised in advance�

BC PharmaCare Program helps British Columbians with the cost of eligible prescription drugs and certain medical supplies� the lower your income, the more assistance the government provides� register by calling 604-683-7151 or on-line� Under Fair PharmaCare, your family is responsible for the cost of your prescription drugs until you have paid your full deductible� After reaching your deductible, PharmaCare pays the majority of eligible prescription costs and you are responsible only for a co-payment� Your co-payments continue until the annual maximum based on your family’s income is reached� After that, PharmaCare pays the full amount of all eligible prescription costs� the monthly deductible payment option allows you to spread the cost of the deductible over the full year� this option benefits families who have high prescription costs by allowing them to distribute their prescription drug costs over the course of the year and receive PharmaCare assistance with all eligible prescription costs�

The Shuttle Bus drivers assist riders getting on and off the bus, and carrying their groceries to their door if needed. The local service from Park Royal to Dundarave is offered by donation on a scheduled route.

Capilano Community Services Seniors’ Hub 604-988-7115

A shuttle bus takes seniors to shopping, social activities, and seasonal events. Volunteer drivers provide rides for isolated or disabled seniors to and from medical appointments. Registration is required.

The Go Bus is a free (donations are accepted) shuttle service that assists seniors to access shopping centres, seniors’ centres, grocery stores, pharmacies, and more in North Vancouver. The Go Bus travels various circuits based on ridership.

The Access Bus travels every second Friday from Parkgate Community Centre to Lynn Valley Mall picking up seniors from bus stops on a designated route. Volunteers are on board to assist with bags and walkers. Small fee for service.
