I love working in an industry where I can utilize my creative and marketing skills on a daily basis. I also love children…their innocence, enthusiasm, positivity and energy. So what better way to combine these loves then to present our third annual Let the Kids Design your Ads feature.

This advertising feature is a great opportunity for children to express their creativity in a unique and practical way.

But more than that, it’s an opportunity for students to learn how the business of the community newspaper works.

The kids are always keen and curious to ;&# $35 ($9< 0/$35 0 "3/14%054$& 5605 regularly arrives on the doorsteps of their homes.

I had the pleasure of visiting the participating classrooms in April to give the students an overview of the North Shore News, and then an “Advertising/ Marketing 101” presentation to help them better understand the process behind creating advertising messages.

Thanks to their enthusiasm, and our advertisers’ support for this feature, the North Shore News is proud to bring you today’s special section that highlights

the work and creativity of young minds 4& $39 %$((3&45'* 24) #4!<9<&5 890#< 3/4/5 classes from Bowen Island, Westcot, Pauline Johnson, Queensbury and Canyon Heights elementary schools have worked hard to produce engaging ads for businesses in North Vancouver, West Vancouver and on Bowen Island.

Each advertiser received between .+- #4!<9<&5 0# #<748&7 5$ %6$$7< :9$(, and then selected the design that they felt best conveyed their business based on information submitted in a ‘creative brief.’ Those ads are the ones you see in this feature. To acknowledge and celebrate every student’s participation, we have created an online gallery on our website to showcase all design submissions.
