After training together and two end-of-season games, they are now the top regional rep team in the whole of Northland, from Wellsford through to Cape Reinga. Coach, Paul Slimo, said he is proud of the boys for their strategy and discipline. “It has been a real pleasure to coach all of these potential All Blacks.” Eleven players have been selected for the South Zone squad, which will go on to play Auckland and North Zone.

Auditor-General Lyn Provost has admitted work for Kaipara prior to 2010 did not meet professional standards
and apologised to council. Chief commissioner John Robertson says that is not enough. “As a result of Audit New Zealand’s negligence, huge costs have been imposed on Kaipara District Council and its ratepayers. The simple fact is that Audit New Zealand did not identify the Mangawhai Community Wastewater
Scheme as a key audit risk or even an area of focus. Proceedings are expected to be lodged by the end of October. Mr Robertson says Mr McKerchar failed the people of Kaipara and should be held to account. continued on page 3 …
