The Small Pukekos Early Childhood Centre in Kaiwaka wanted to give back to the local community and held a creative arts expo where they sold pieces of artwork for charity. The children completed three pieces of artwork each, which were sold to friends, family and community members. “We were overwhelmed with the support and raised $860 — our target was $500,” said centre manager Crystal Chapman. “We have split the funds between the Kaiwaka Fire Brigade and St John Ambulance. The firefighters visited for their cheque presentation and the children were able to learn what the fire brigade do to help keep us safe.”

farmers and we came up with the fashion show and dinner idea.” The vet centre sought out key business partners to support the event and help fund the evening. continued on page 3 …
