Kaiwaka Primary School students attended the 25th annual Kaipara Festival along with 18 other schools from the Kaipara region performing Kapa Haka and Pasifika items held at Helensville Primary School. “Our school has been to every performance except for one and the children did really well. We had a Noho Marae prior to the event and Whaea Mina Paikea, our tutor, certainly prepared the students better than ever,” said principal Rosie Ellis. “Sixty-two students in our Kapa Haka group attended the festival and they performed on cue and did really well. We had a lot of family and supporters come along. It was a wonderfully run festival and a very enjoyable day with great performances.” Photo courtesy Josie Gritten photography
