Rural protest rally steps up

 Dargaville Primary School kids have beaten out 24 other nominees to receive a green-fingered prize from Rabobank; a new, extensive school garden designed to teach sustainable living and horticulture. Teachers, parents, local building suppliers and the entire Rabobank team attended the school on Monday morning, picking up tools to make the pledged garden and tunnel house a reality for the members of the school’s popular garden club, an optional part of the curriculum, which supports healthier eating and in-depth knowledge of how our daily meals reach the plate. New pontoon plan for Dargaville  by Paul Campbell

The first step in a project to create a water-based transport network on Kaipara Harbour by investing in wharf infrastructure is being taken with Kaipara District Council revealing design plans for a new pontoon on the river in Dargaville. Construction of the new pontoon is expected to begin in February and to cost around $500,000.
