p Matakohe School pupils raised $250 towards anti-bullying programmes when they swung in behind Pink Shirt Day. Bikes and scooters and roller skates were the order of the day, along with the overall theme which was decidedly pink — the parents’ support group made pink cupcakes, pink milk shakes and sold Pink Shirt Day wrist bands. There were competitions for the best-decorated bike and the best-dressed pupil and after fun in the school grounds the kids also discussed what bullying is, deciding it includes words as well as actions. They took on board a message ‘to treat others how you would like to be treated’.

New Harding Park structure u by Colin Patterson

Harding Park on Mt Wesley includes the site of Dargaville Museum and the headquarters of the Kaipara Vintage Machinery Club. The proposal also includes the Mt Wesley cemetery, the Harding family plot and the Pou Tu o Te Rangi pa site. All the land apart from the pa site is council land. The pa site was previously owned by the Crown but was returned to Te Uri o Hau as part of a Treaty of Waitangi settlement.

It says the entire area is covered by the Harding Park reserves management plan and having it all under the oversight of one committee will allow for more cohesive management. It is also planned that a Harding Park Advisory Committee be set up to represent the interests of the various user groups and to provide advice to the management committee. ¢
