Mr Peters gave a wide-ranging interview to the Lifestyler as he visited the Northland Field Days and confirmed he is opening an electorate office at 87 Victoria Street next to McKays, on March 23 at 5.30pm. “It is important to be in the middle of town where the people can see you,” he said. “I have had a submission given to me regarding the Kai Iwi lakes. It has
surprised me to see how underestimated its economical importance has been in this part of the world. “I am surprised at how many people visiting the lakes come here and shop in Dargaville. Any serious change to that lake use will be a serious economic loss, at a time when they cannot afford any loss of opportunity at all. “You have to turn around the loss of opportunities that have been going on
for far too long and start defending what we have got here and building on them. When I went to school here it was a very prosperous place with full employment.” Mr Peters touched on the oneway bridges at Matakohe, after the government promised action during the by-election he won. “They promised 10 two-lane bridges.” continued on page 3 …
