The Northland Field Days organisers say that “Thursday crowds were as expected, with Friday appearing to be less than last year, but a boost of more than 12,000 attending on Saturday saw a number of food stalls and site holders running out of stock before the conclusion of the event.” The three days “ran exceptionally smoothly with all exhibitors and public alike extremely happy.” Pictured here is the fire service site, which held a kids’ combat challenge course. Minister launches Matakohe bridges project by Paul Campbell
Work on replacing the one-lane Hardies and Anderson bridges on State Highway 12 at Matakohe has officially begun with the sod-turning ceremony headed by Transport and Economic Development Minister, Simon Bridges. The event last Friday marked the end of a long local campaign over the section of road that has been responsible for numerous accidents and a bottleneck into Kaipara for traffic and freight. “The bridges will be replaced with two-way structures as well as realigning
