Kaipara District Council decided at its last meeting to end the opening prohibition on the religious holiday, after the Shop Trading Hours Amendment Act 2016 was passed by parliament last
year to give local authorities the option to allow trading or not. “We made the decision because we want to encourage growth,” said Kaipara Mayor Greg Gent.
