Participants had the chance to choose the length of their course, which took them on the sand along the estuary and gave them the opportunity to experience the natural beauty that Mangawhai has to offer. Farm submissions hugely negative u by Ayla Miller

With almost 5,000 submissions lodged over the proposed Tegel broiler chicken farm in Arapohue, only 17 are in support, prompting a call for local submissions from the Kaipara to take precedence.

Northland Regional Council received 2,458 submissions, with seven in support, while 2,234 were lodged with the Kaipara District Council, with 10 in favour of the farm. Of the total number of submissions received, 344 submitters chose to appear before the hearing

commissioners. At least 2,007 submissions came from a website, operated on behalf of Greenpeace. Northland MP, Matt King, says the opinions of those made by people who will be directly affected should carry more weight when the submissions are taken into account.
