Despite the weather, the raft, kayak and seagull outboard races on the Northern Wairoa went ahead last Saturday and the Pretty Tough team was first again this year. Second place went to the Kaihu Krocodiles, and The Blue Bottles won most-creative craft. The Crash Heroes came first in the high school category, and Derek Godfrey won the kayak race. The seagull outboard race was won by Rick Groves. Pictured here are all the raft race and kayak competitors, including Pretty Tough in the front with the Edgar Bradley Memorial Trophy.
Dairy awards double for Kaiwaka u by Anna Harding
Award-winning Kaiwaka farmers will host the Northland Dairy Industry Awards field day event in the Kaipara next week after a double win in the 2017 awards when Niall and Delwyn McKenzie won Share Farmer of the Year and Blake Anderson won Dairy Trainee of the Year.
