Persistent rain could not dampen the spirits of the nearly 100 residents and visitors who enjoyed the Whakapirau Family Fun Day. The Integrated Kaipara Harbour Management Group along with the Whakapirau Ratepayers and Residents Association enjoyed a day of family fun which concluded with a raft race in the harbour. The IKHM group hosted an information site on sustaining a healthy Kaipara Harbour.

A clear message was sent to the Kaipara District Council as 62 boats were paraded down Victoria Street in Dargaville in a peaceful protest against proposed changes in the Draft Kai Iwi Lakes — Taharoa Domain — Reserve Management Plan 2015 which suggests power boats could be banned by 2018.
