 Kaipara’s newest citizens were welcomed into the community by the Kaipara District Council last week, with a ceremony at the Dargaville Town Hall. Those who received their citizenship, along with their families and supporters, were greeted by Mayor Greg Gent and entertained by Dargaville singing group Rivertown Singers.

The event saw a cross section of community organisations give a presentation about their services and discuss their shared visions. Dargaville Community Development Board manager Lorraine Davidson said the main aim of the evening was to increase collaboration between groups

and individuals with the same goals — to encourage revitalisation and growth. “The event was attended by those people who are interested in community development and those we have already been working with,” she said. Representatives from the Kauri Coast Promotions Society, Dargaville Business
