As a result of the accolade, the school was awarded a scholarship for a student to attend the World Vision and Sanitarium Senior Scholarship Week to be held in Auckland in October. Those involved in the 40-hour famine from Otamatea High School selected Year 13 student, Charlotte Huband as the recipient. Charlotte was selected for her assistance in famine fundraising, empathy for those in need, leadership qualities as school prefect as well as a desire to continue to be involved with famine issues. “I’m really excited and looking forward to learning new ways to make a difference and how World Vision works,” says Charlotte. She will attend the programme along with 29 other senior students from across New Zealand and will learn about global issues and develop leadership
