“There’s a choice of the afternoon matinee performance, or the Champagne Gala in the evening,” says WAG’s Lorraine Rowlands. “Both shows are the same and will include a marquee reception, with nibbles, enter tainment and a cash bar. Then the performances begin.” The show will feature weird and wonderful creations that have made the WAG event a magnet since its inception in 2006. Judging and prize giving will follow the evening performance. “Among the entertainers will be the WAG Dance Troupe, under the tutelage of Penny Goodall and they will be introducing the show and three categories, Sci-Fi, Rubbish and Bloomin’ Ridiculous,” Ms Rowland said. “Tickets are selling well and we hope to fill the Paparoa War Memorial Hall and give people a wonderful mid-winter escape. of the creations are truly remarkable and the number of ‘Headgear’ entries are a real credit to our creative young people. A must-see local event!”

Tickets are still available ranging from $5 for children to $25 per adult, with Gold Card holders at $15. For more details: www.paparoa.org.nz. ¢

The brevity of the hearings has been sharply criticised by two Kaipara ratepayers groups, who say Kaipara rate increases are being given cursory consideration by government.

Ratepayers or groups who have decided that they no longer wish to appear before the committee to speak to their submissions, have been asked to contact the secretariat by return email

or telephone 'as soon as possible', while those individuals wanting to speak are being given just five minutes to do so. continued on page 7 …
