“We were pleased to be hosting TV3, with the crew sending video that was going live into the Maori Television broadcast as well as segments into the TV3 morning programme,” said Maungaturoto Returned Services Association president, Terry McCook. “We also had a record turnout for the parade with 350 people, and many of these were young people and children, which indicates the huge interest the day is creating.” His sentiments were echoed by Paparoa RSA president,

Ralph Williams, who attended the Maungaturoto observance before returning to officiate at The Kauri Museum at Matakohe, which held a combined service with Paparoa at 10.30am. “We had a really good turnout from locals and visitors and the crowd once again included many youngsters, with Matakohe Primary pupils leading the National Anthem in the service that followed a march to the grave of war hero and late prime minister, Gordon Coates.
