Ruawai farmer and businessman, Greg Gent, has confirmed to the Lifestyler that he is considering standing for mayor in the upcoming local body elections after being approached by members of the Kaipara community.

Mr Gent is currently chairperson of Southern Cross Healthcare Group, FMG Insurance, Dairy Holdings and deputy chair of the Plant and Food Research Board. He says that great progress has been made in the Kaipara under the

commissioners and he would like to see that momentum continue. “What we need at these elections, in my view, is a whole new council and with that a new culture and way of operating. The greatest risk I see is that after the
