The Navy announced Tuesday in NAVADMIN 119/17 that personnel who wrongfully distribute or broadcast intimate images in violation of Article 1168 of U.S. Navy Regulations will face mandatory administrative separation processing.

“There is no room in our Navy for this toxic behavior,” Chief of Naval Personnel, Vice Adm. Robert Burke, said “This new policy shows that we are committed to eradicating this behavior from our force.”

These changes align with All Naval Message (ALNAV) 021/17, released April 18, which updated U.S. Navy Regulations with Article 1168, making it unlawful to share an intimate image of someone without their permission for personal gain or to humiliate, harm, harass, intimidate, threaten, or coerce the depicted person or with reckless disregard of harm to the victim.

Military Personnel Manual (MILPERSMAN) Article 1910233, Mandatory Separation Processing, and MILPERSMAN 1910-142, Separation by Reason of Misconduct - Commission of a Serious Offense, have been updated to reflect this new policy for enlisted personnel.

This mandatory processing shall be conducted based upon the version of the MILPERSMAN in effect on the date the violation occurred. Officers who violate Article 1168 will be subject to administrative separation processing in accordance with SECNAVINST 1920.6C. For more information read NAVADMIN 119/17 at www.npc.navy.mil.

Last weekend, as part of the NEX customer appreciation weekend, NSA Naples had the honor to welcome Medal of Honor recipient, Command Sergeant Major Gary Littrell, U.S. Army, retired, for an inspiring visit. Even though an Army Soldier, Mr. Littrell’s story is an amazing testament to the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. The opportunity to speak in-person with an individual who earned our nation’s highest military honor was a once in a lifetime experience for most of us. I am thankful to the NEX for making this possible, and to everyone in the community who came out to welcome CSM Littrell and spend a few moments talking with an American Hero.

The month of May is dedicated to celebrating very important people to whom we owe our deepest appreciation – our military spouses. Our spouses play a paramount role in our lives and in the services, but yet they are sometimes under-appreciated. Spouses stick by us through long deployments and PCS moves, and give us the love, support and motivation we need for resiliency and success in a military career. To ALL of our NSA Naples community spouses, thank you so much for everything you do!

I’d like to also thank all of the volunteers involved in collecting and repairing abandoned bicycles on Support Site for a donation to the “E ti porto in Africa” organization. This charity, set up by Professor Vincenzo Mallamaci, an Italian cardiologist, provides bicycles to children on the Ivory Coast in Africa. This kind of teamwork and partnership with our host nation is aimed at helping those in need and is a hallmark of our service. It’s also a great indicator of our community values, and I am honored to present this donation to Prof. Mallamaci next week. Anyone wishing to join us can do so by coming to the Capodichino Hangar Bay at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 25th.

Another important event coming up next week is Cyberbullying Prevention Night at the Naples Elementary School on Tuesday, May 23rd. The event starts at 5 p.m. and is aimed at promoting awareness of this challenging contemporary issue, and empowering parents and students to be prepared to meet and overcome issues associated with cyberbullying and nasty on-line behavior. I highly recommend parents and their children attend and take part in this important discussion.

Spanish Cultural Exchange with Italian High School

Hello from Naples High School’s Advanced Placement Spanish class! Over the course of this year, we were able to work on our conversational Spanish skills while also experiencing the great culture our host nation has to offer, not to mention making great new friends along the way. This year we went on three different field trips with Spanish students from Il Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II, a high school in downtown Naples. These trips provided us with new insight as to how to interact with others in a foreign language, a skill that is incredibly useful to get by in another country.

For the first trip, they graciously invited us on a tour of their beautiful school right on Piazza Dante, in the center of Naples. We explored the campus, getting to see their fantastic library filled with classic Italian novels and their gorgeous view of Naples from the school’s terrace.

Throughout the whole excursion we only spoke in Spanish and we were able to practice our conversational skills. We were even able to sit in on a Spanish class at their school. At the end, we saw a small play that the students wrote and put on, narrating the history of Spaniards in Naples. Then as a going away present to us, their student-led choir graced us with an amazing performance, including songs

by Michael Jackson and Adele. The trip was a fun way to make new friends and made us excited to see them again.

The next time we saw the Italian students, we in turn gave them a tour of our own school. Our basketball court was a big hit with them. Then we took them to sit in on one of our Spanish

classes, where three South American guest speakers gave superb presentations on their native countries’ history and culture. We then challenged them to a game of Spanish culture Jeopardy. Lastly, one of our own Naples classmates taught all of us la bachata, a lively Spanish dance. Luckily, it wasn’t the last time we saw our friends.

It was just a week later that we saw them again, this time out in town. They gave us a tour of historical sites in Naples that tied in with the Spanish occupation. We were able to see a variety of artwork in a museum, the great shopping selection of Spaccanapoli, and Naples’ oldest chocolate shop. The most exciting part of the trip was getting to cheer on our classmate Allan Legorreta as he stumbled blindfolded across Piazza Plebiscito as a traditional game that is thought to bring good luck. Luckily, Allan managed to find his way across the plaza without falling or breaking any limbs. We also enjoyed authentic Neapolitan food at Rossopomodoro, a traditional pizza restaurant, and tasted delicious pastries at a cafè nearby. This trip was by far our favorite, because we were able to explore out in town with our friends, whereas before we were just in the schools. All in all, it was a spectacular experience to get to meet and interact with Spanish speakers in their hometown. We ate delicious food, told delightful jokes, and made new friends, all while practicing and developing our Advanced Placement Spanish skills. We would especially like to thank Ms. Roberta Pennasilico and Professor Miriam Aristud, the teachers responsible for helping to coordinate our trips, for organizing these wonderful cultural exchanges.

HISTORY: TENTH FLEET ESTABLISHED Form Naval History and Heritage Command

On May 20, 1943, the Navy established the Tenth Fleet in Washington D.C., under the command of Adm. Ernest J. King, to coordinate U.S. anti-submarine operations in the Atlantic.

From the beginning of World War II, the Germans waged an incessant U-Boat war in the Atlantic against Allied merchant vessels.

Upon its establishment, Tenth Fleet became a clearing house for everything involving Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW).

All of the Allies worked together with Tenth Fleet for a unity of effort. Tenth Fleet had unrestricted access to the Admiralty’s UBoat tracking room and its various ASW research and intelligence agencies.

On March 1, 1943, the Allies met in Washington to discuss convoy operations in the Atlantic.

At this conference, they agreed to divide up responsibility for the Atlantic between Canada, Britain, and the United States.

In April of 1943, Fleet Admiral Ernest King began the consolidation of his staff that would result in the establishment of Tenth Fleet.

Shortly after King sent a memo to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which defined the operational characteristics of a central organization with access to all intelligence about German UBoats and the authority to direct Navy ships to prosecute them. A month later the U.S. Tenth Fleet was formally established.

Rapidly proving its worth, Tenth Fleet demonstrated immediate success. On May 22,

1943, just days after its establishment, Tenth Fleet provided intelligence to a hunter-killer group led by USS Bogue (CVE 9), resulting in the sinking of U-569, the first of many for the Bogue, and the first associated with the intelligence provided by Tenth Fleet.

While not the only organization in the war combating the U-Boat, the efforts of Tenth Fleet certainly helped bring about the end of the U-Boat threat. Prior to the establishment of Tenth Fleet, the Allies averaged barely more than four UBoats sunk per month.

During the month Tenth Fleet was established, the Allies sank 41, and averaged more than 23 per month thereafter.

Oberleutnant zur See Herbert A. Werner, a former U-Boat commander and one of the few to survive the war, described it succinctly when he said, “The Allied counter-offensive permanently reversed the tide of battle. Almost overnight, the hunters had become the hunted, and through the rest of the war our boats were slaughtered at a fearful rate.”

Of all the victories the Allies won during World War II, the U-Boat war was arguably one of the most complete.

Of 1,150 commissioned or in commission during the war, Germany had a total of 842 UBoats that saw battle. Of these, the Allies sank 781 and captured two, accounting for nearly 93 percent of Germany’s operational U-Boat fleet. The remainder were either scuttled by the Germans or surrendered at the end of the war.

SPOTLIGHT: BRAELYNN AND WESTLEY HEIDELBERGER

Deeply committed, involved, and always ready to answer the call, Braelynn and Westley Heidelberger are veteran volunteers with USO Naples.

“We started volunteering because we wanted to give back to the community and make people happy,” Braelynn said. “I love giving my time. It makes us feel good knowing we are able to help out in some way.”

In the past three years, the Heidelbergers have become fixtures at the USO, supporting regular community events to include USO Bingo Nights, Taste of Home, Teddy Bear Club and large-scale holiday events.

“All of the events that the USO puts out are flat out fun,” Westley says. “I have a great time making people happy and welcoming new people into the community. It is the greatest reward.”

As NSA Naples is the couple’s first duty station, Braelynn says volunteering greatly helped to adapt to their new life within the military community.

“The first few months here were extremely difficult for me,” Braelynn said. “At first I was a little unsure of volunteering, but then I got to know everyone and realized they were probably in the same boat, and we grew together as friends through the USO.” As of April 1, the couple has collectively dedicated more than 260 hours to serving our community.

“Volunteering helped get me out of my comfort zone, get out of the house, and use my time wisely by giving back,” Braelynn said. “It gave me a sense of community and family in a whole new aspect.”

Sabrina Pullido, Area Director, USO Naples, Rome, Sigonella, Vicenza, echoed Braelynn’s remarks.

“Braelynn and Westley fully embraced NSA Naples as their hometown, and gave back to the community through their USO volunteer service,” Pullido said.

“From family events to fleet visits, including single Sailor and spouse programs – they were always there to support. We feel privileged they chose to volunteer with the USO Naples, and immensely proud to have them as part of our family.”

Medal of Honor Recipient Army Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Gary Lee Littrell visited Naples Middle High School on May 12, 2017.

He was hosted by the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Cadets who were really looking forward to meeting him.

Littrell, a retired United States Army Command Sergeant Major who, while a Sergeant First Class serving as an adviser to Army of the Republic of Vietnam’s Ranger units during the Vietnam War, acted with extraordinary courage during a four day siege on his battalion — for which he received the Medal of Honor.

Between April 4 and 8, 1970, while serving on Advisory Team 21 of I Corps Advisory Group, in Kontum Province, Republic of Vietnam, Sergeant First Class Littrell was a Light Weapons Infantry Advisor with the 23rd Battalion, 2nd Ranger Group. The battalion

was under intense mortar attack – all advisors except Littrell were killed. Unrelentingly, over four days, Littrell kept the battalion inspired, while he directed artillery and air support, distributed ammunition, strengthened faltering defenses, cared for his wounded comrades, and shouted encouragement to the Vietnamese in their own language.

For his “sustained extraordinary courage and selflessness,” he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, which was presented to him in a White House ceremony by President Richard Nixon on October 15, 1973.

After walking through a dignified arch of swords held aloft by the NJROTC cadets in front of the school, Littrell chatted with the cadets who told him about their uniforms.

one who has completed three years of JROTC, said.

From the reception area, the cadets escorted Littrell to the school cafeteria where other students were eagerly waiting to meet him.

Littrell spoke to them about growing-up in Kentucky, his friends, and the actions that resulted in him being awarded the Medal of Honor.

“His presentation was really from the heart,” Matthew Elliott, one of the students who had been looking forward to meeting Littrell said. “We are all honored. He was really genuine; an amazing guy!”

The ceremony concluded with a very simple, “Thank you for your service” from one of the instructors responsible for setting-up the visit.

The later spring weather here in Italy is just about perfect.

Of course, warmer summer weather is just around the corner, and that means many of us will soon want to start running our fans and air conditioners.

Here are some simple tips to help you control your energy usage and enjoy summer of savings: • Allow cooler air from the morning or night before to flow into your home. As the temperature rises, close the windows and draw the shades to keep pre-cooled air inside.

• Use a ceiling fan while you’re home and running the air conditioner. This will allow you to raise your thermostat setting about 4 degrees Fahrenheit.

• Set your air conditioning thermostat higher than 78°F (health permitting) when you’re at home and to 85°F when you’re away.

• Check the filter on your heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. A dirty filter can cause your system to work harder to keep you cool, wasting energy.

• When possible, delay chores that produce heat such as dishwashing, laundering and cooking until cooler times of the day or night.

• Run the dishwasher only when full. And avoid leaving water running when doing things like shaving, brushing your teeth, or washing dishes.

NATO Military Chiefs Prepare Recommendations for Heads of Governments

NATO’s chiefs of defense met in Brussels on May 17, 2017, to assess the alliance’s current and future work and to form advice and recommendations for their nations’ political leaders, who will convene here next week.

Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, represented the United States at the meeting.

At a news conference following the meeting, Gen. Petr Pavel of the Czech army, chairman of the NATO Military Committee, said the military chiefs examined the situations confronting the alliance and formulated their recommendations and guidance.

“Translating political objectives into military reality is at the core of the work we do,” Pavel said. “What is also crucial is that the military advice we provide is clear, concise and, importantly, able to deliver the desired strategic effects.”

Counter-ISIS Coalition NATO heads of state and government – including President Donald J. Trump – will meet next week here to examine the chiefs’ recommendations.

NATO already is involved in fighting

terrorism. All of the NATO nations individually are members of the coalition arrayed against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Official NATO membership in the coalition fighting ISIS will be one of the key topics for the heads of state and government meeting, Pavel said.

The chiefs also examined ways to further progress on projecting stability from NATO to neighboring countries in North Africa and the Middle East. This includes moves for stability in the western Balkans and in Iraq, the general said.

The chiefs also discussed the alliance’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan. The NATO commander of the mission – U.S. Army Gen. John W. Nicholson – has recommended increasing the number of NATO personnel in the train-advise-assist mission in the country in 2018 and beyond. About 13,000 alliance service members are in Afghanistan, including about 9,000 Americans.

NATO needs a flexible and conditions-based approach to military actions in Afghanistan, Pavel said. “The chiefs of defense emphasized their long-term commitment to train, advise and assist the Afghan national defense and security forces,” he said.

“The Afghan forces are facing a tough

security environment, and they continue to be tested, but they continue to endure. It is unquestionable that a stable Afghanistan is in everybody’s interest and not just for regional stability. NATO will continue to support all initiatives which will help to achieve these objectives.”

Changing Posture, Enhancing Capabilities U.S. Army Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, NATO’s supreme allied commander for Europe, said the alliance members must do more to ensure a Europe that is whole, free and at peace. The alliance is changing its posture and its mindset and is enhancing its capabilities to respond to the evolving nature of conflict, he said.

“We are adapting the alliance to respond to different approaches to modern warfare that is extremely complex, potentially vast in scale and intensity,” he said. “We continue to work as allies to achieve this transition.”

Scaparrotti emphasized the need for unity within the alliance. “National, bilateral and collective alliance efforts must be integrated and mutually reinforcing,” he said. “This is fundamental to our success.”

And the NATO nations are responding. The general ticked off a number of

initiatives that show the unity of the alliance, including the enhanced forward posture units in the Baltics and Poland, the air policing effort, the very-high-readiness task force, and operations in Romania and Bulgaria as just a few examples. He also noted that NATO nations are spending more on national forces – increasing readiness and capabilities.

Long-Term View Scaparrotti said the alliance cannot sacrifice the future for the present.

“Looking forward we must maintain a strategic long-term view,” he added.

“We must have a sense of urgency coupled by a sense of endurance. Simultaneously, we must find the right way to make the best use of our current capacities to secure allies for challenges we face.”

The alliance must be flexible and fast, Scaparrotti said. “Our instruments need to offer us flexibility and utility across applications is critical, and we must be based on a requirement in terms of both quality and quantity,” he said. “NATO is charged to be ready to respond to the new and continually evolving security environment. We must continue to set conditions and invest now to ensure European security in the future.”

Navy Ends Online GMT Requirements From Chief of Naval Personnel

The Navy recently announced that Sailors will no longer be required to log onto Navy Knowledge Online, Navy eLearning or My Navy Portal to complete General Military Training (GMT) for any topic except Cybersecurity as outlined in NAVADMIN 072/17.

Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. Robert Burke said that during fleet visits he often hears Sailors say online training is ineffective and impersonal.

This effort, he said, is aimed at improving leader engagement opportunity, reducing administrative distractions and addressing Sailor’s frustration with current online training products.

“I want Sailors to know we’ve heard them,” Burke said. “This is about restoring an important leader engagement opportunity – an opportunity to talk about integrity, accountability and character, something today’s online products are missing. There is no doubt this approach will yield an even greater competitive edge for the Navy.”

While there are still annual GMT requirements, individual commands now have the flexibility to complete required training when and how they see fit. Existing training materials will remain on Navy eLearning and My Navy Portal, providing an outline for commands to use.

To maximize training effectiveness, units should look to conduct GMT in small groups, which will

allow leaders to engage Sailors with meaningful discussion and focus on character, as part of the Navy’s continuing Fleet-centered leader development.

Going forward, the Navy plans to overhaul GMT and other on-line eLearning products to make them more engaging and personalized, but not at the expense of leadership engagement, Burke said.

While Suicide Awareness, Equal Opportunity and Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Prevention and Response training may require a more formal setting, and may benefit from supplementation by existing seminar discussion material available from “Chart the Course” or “Full Speed Ahead” training, other topics such as Records Management, Operations Security, and Privacy and PII, can be conducted at quarters, all-hands calls, divisional training using existing learning objectives and material to elicit discussion to the point that the leader is satisfied that the learning objectives are understood.

While there is no requirement to document the completion of GMT in the Navy eLearning Learning Management System, Commands are encouraged to keep local records. The Cyber Awareness Challenge V4 (DOD-IAA-V14.0) can be found on Navy Knowledge Online, Navy eLearning or My Navy Portal.

NS2AU (NATO Support to African Union) reaffirms commitment to African partnership Protective Actions to Take in Response to an Active Shooter Incident From NSA Emergency Management Office

Unfortunately, it seems there is a potential for an active shooter incident just about anywhere, at any time. At Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples we consider and prepare for this potential threat at all times. Our NSA Naples Security Forces are well trained and prepared to respond, but there are actions we can take to prepare and protect ourselves and those around us, at all times. In many situations it may be impossible to tell if an incident was terrorist initiated or a criminal action until well after the security response is over. Therefore, the actions we take as organizations and individuals will aid in our survivability and assist responding security forces.

At NSA Naples we will receive an indication or notification that an active shooter incident is occurring through an announcement over the Giant Voice, computer desktop notification systems (CDNS) or by those in the immediate area of the incident hearing gunshots or loud voices alerting other people of the threat.

The announcement made over the Giant Voice system will be: “Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown. Active shooter on station. Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown.”

This announcement will be made every three minutes until the incident has concluded, or as directed by the NSA commanding officer.

When you hear the announcement, receive a message on your computer desktop or hear loud voices alerting others of the threat, please take the following protective actions: ● Immediately run away from the threat and take shelter inside the nearest room / building if available.

● As a last resort and if the opportunity presents itself, personnel should use whatever means possible to attack / overpower the subject to save further lives.

- Examples include: Suspect reloading weapon, or back turned to you.

- Deadly Force is justified in saving your life or the lives of others. ● Relocate as many people from the hallways/common areas in a room which can be locked. ● Lock all doors, windows and turn off lights. Barricade doors if items are available. Take cover under desks, or crouch behind available cover. Ensure you stay away from doors and windows. ● If possible call 911(from an on-base DSN phone), or commercial 081-569-4911 and stay on the phone to answer dispatcher questions. Do not hang up until told to by the dispatcher. ● Follow directions from security personnel or the Giant Voice. ● Stay in locked room until instructed by security personnel or Giant Voice system to evacuate. Disregard fire alarms unless instructed to evacuate by mass notification systems or law enforcement personnel. The exception is if you determine there is a real fire threat – if you see smoke or actual flames. ● If you are directed to evacuate, do not make sudden movements or appear to be aggressive.

This year’s main activities have included the fourth African Logistics Forum and the preparation and conduct of the two planned NATO Mobile Education and Training Team (METT) courses in May and June. The logistics forum took place last month. The most recent event brought together civilian and uniformed logistics experts, representing more than 30 African countries, representatives from the AU, member states, Regional Economic Communities/Regional Mechanisms, European Union, United Nations, and various U.S. government agencies as well as multinational partners including NATO. The forum reviewed the relationships between the AU’s developing Continental Logistic Base and Regional Logistic Depots and sought to make recommendations for effective operationalization and harmonization. The NATO METTs are an Exercise Planning Course, slated to occur this month, and an Operational Planning Process Course in June for the AU Commission and the five ASF Regional Economic Community Headquarters.

The NATO Senior Military Liaison Office to the African Union was established in 2005, in Addis Ababa, under the scope of NATO’s Support to the African Union. The purpose of the office is to provide support to the AU, as requested by the African Union Commission, in particular to the development of the AU’s peace support capacity and the ongoing operationalisation of the African Standby Forces.

Currently four Nations – France, Italy, The Netherlands and Turkey – have been supporting the mission. This mission routinely runs with several NATO officers and enlisted troops based in the NATO office and some within the AU. The troops provide mentoring, capacity building and support directly to the AU in close cooperation with AU Peace Support Operation Division personnel from the

Allied Joint Force Command Naples Peacetime Establishment.

The NATO Senior Military Liaison Office has developed strong relationships both inside and outside the AU through standing AU partner forums and the Addis Ababa defence attaché network.

“The networking is one of the keys of this mission. Concretely, it permits us during the tour to have quite easily the EASF (Eastern African Standby forces) facilities in order to conduct both METTs” said LTC Cyrille Montaru (FRA/A), deployed as leader of the team.

Office members regularly participate in monthly Military Attaché Association, or MAA, and Western Defence Attaché meetings. Ethiopia has the third largest diplomatic network in the world, and the members of the MAA comprise a high number of military attachés/advisors and liaison officers accredited to Ethiopia. The main objectives of the association are to enhance an exchange of ideas, interaction and ability to influence peace and security issues and policies affecting the African continent.

The NS2AU mission is an interesting and challenging one.

The team has the opportunity to work with high level counterparts from AU, other key partners like the UN and the EU, and NGOs such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Oxfam.

“One to two times a week we have an activity in which international partners come together.

This offers you the opportunity to communicate with each other on various subjects and make you quickly build an extensive network” LTC Rob Snijders (NLD-A), currently deployed in Addis Ababa as deputy of the team, said.

Thanks to the Military Liaison Office, NATO actively maintains its network to support African Union in Addis Ababa, often referred to as “the political capital of Africa” for its historical, diplomatic and political significance for the continent.

Make a Terrarium Mini Garden From National Aeronautics and Space Administration

A terrarium is like an aquarium, but for plants instead of fish. It is made in just about any glass container. It is planted to look like a miniature garden or forest enclosed in its own little world.

A terrarium has its own mini-climate. The container has just a small opening or sometimes even a lid to completely enclose the container. That makes a terrarium like a greenhouse. Sunlight enters through the glass and warms the air, soil and plants the same way that sunlight coming through the atmosphere warms Earth’s surface. The glass holds in some of the warmth, just as Earth’s atmosphere does.

You can easily make a beautiful terrarium yourself.

First, you want all the plants to thrive in the same kind of environment. For example, you could plant all succulents (including cactus), because they need very little water. Or you could plant all ferns, because they like it moist.

You can use either an open or closed container, depending on the plants you choose: An open container is best for succulents and cacti because they like lots of air; while a closed container (with a lid) is better for ferns, ivies and begonias because they like it humid (but if you see water condensing on the lid, remove it for a while, then replace it).

For any terrarium, you need:

● Clear, clean glass container (aquarium, goldfish bowl, cookie jar, pickle jar, vase with a broad bottom, brandy snifter. ● Small rocks or marbles. ● Activated charcoal to filter the water and help prevent growth of fungi. ● Sterilized potting soil. ● Small plants of different colors, shapes and textures. Try to get miniature plants that aren’t going to grow too big for the container.

The layers of rock and soil are part of the beauty of your terrarium.

Start with a layer of rocks, about one inch or so, at the bottom of your container. These will help the soil drainage, so the roots of your plants won’t get waterlogged.

Add a 1/2-inch-thick layer of charcoal.

Fill the container up to halffull with potting soil.

Plant your plants. When you remove them from their little pots, carefully tease the roots apart and remove some of the old soil so they will fit nicely in the terrarium. Arrange them to look nice. Leave space for them to breathe and grow. Pat down the soil so they don’t get uprooted easily.

Add decorative rocks, pine cones, shells or even a miniature dinosaur or garden gnome to make your terrarium look like its own little garden world. Water the plants, but not too much and place your new terrarium in indirect light, then sit back and enjoy your new botanical creation.
