May 8, 2014 Traffic Ban in Naples Motorists are restricted from driving in the city of Naples at certain times under the city's anti-pollution plan. The ban started April 28 and will run until Dec. 31. The ban includes all U.S. vehicles, except official U.S./NATO government vehicles, as they are not regulated by European catalytic converter standards, such as Euro 4 and above (this information can be found on the vehicle’s registration). The vehicle ban is excluded in some areas of Naples, including the Tangenziale, the A1 Napoli-Roma autostrada and A3 Napoli-Salerno, the SS 162 and Viale Fulco di Calabria. The ban runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. In addition, there will be Sundays in which it is prohibited to drive throughout the city from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The municipality has so far identified the following Sundays until the month of August: May 11, June 1, July 6, Aug. 3. The ban is exempt during the following days of the year: May 1, June 2, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Dec. 8, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 26 and Dec. 31. Some categories of motorists are exempt, including drivers of electric/GPL/methane vehicles, emergency services, taxis, law enforcement vehicles, vehicle with disabled people, vehicles with catalytic converter standard (Euro 4) and over; vehicles with at least three people on board (car-pooling) excluding vehicles with catalytic converter standard (Euro 0 and Euro 1). May 10: Capo Base-wide Gas Outage There will be a base-wide gas outage at Capodichino this Saturday, May 10, from 7 a.m. 7 p.m. The outage will take place in order to replace a valve on the main line. Hot water, gas appliances, and heaters will all be out of service. Reminder: Gaeta Drinking Water Declared Non-Potable Drinking water at Gaeta Fleet Landing and Olde Mill Inn is declared non-potable and not fit for consumption. All affected are advised to use bottled water for drinking, food preparation, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, and feeding pets. Notification of Mail Return As has been announced for several months, all personnel should have been changing their mailing addresses to the new Zip+4 construct. The deadline for this change was April 15. Starting July 1, mail not utilizing the Zip+4 construct will be returned to sender. Please contact your mail orderly if you have not received your new address or have had any trouble changing your address so we can ensure no vital mail is returned.
