ANNOUNCING THE RESNA TRACK AT ISS

RESNA is proud to announce we will be presenting an entire trackof valuable education sessions at this year’s International SeatingSymposium, October 28 – 30, 2021. We are pleased to partnerwith ISS to offer sessions that focus on technology convergenceand standards.

Everyone working in assistive technology knows how technologyconvergence is greatly affecting careers and jobs. It is one reasonthe Assistive Technology Professional Certification exists, toencourage professionals to know about different areas of assistivetechnology and when situations demand it, refer to other ATPswith specific knowledge. If you work in seating and mobility, youunderstand that you need to know “more than wheelchairs.” Inaddition to knowing about the range of different technologies,understanding standards and research-driven best practices help allAT professionals find technology solutions for their clients that workand provide the best outcomes.

EVERYONE WORKING IN ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY KNOWS HOW TECHNOLOGY CONVERGENCE IS GREATLY AFFECTING CAREERS AND JOBS. IT IS ONE REASON THE ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION EXISTS, TO ENCOURAGE PROFESSIONALS TO KNOW ABOUT DIFFERENT AREAS OF ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY AND WHEN SITUATIONS DEMAND IT, REFER TO OTHER ATPS WITH SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE.

The presenters of these sessions are RESNA members who have years of experience in their chosen area of assistive technology. The RESNA Track sessions include:

GET READY FOR THE ATP JOB TASK ANALYSIS SURVEY

The Professional Standards Board (PSB) of RESNAconducts a regular job task analysis to identify the corecompetencies of assistive technology professionals andassess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required toperform those tasks. RESNA’s Job Task Analysis (JTA)is the largest research project worldwide related to thebody of knowledge for assistive technology. The resultsof this study are used to verify and update the contentto the ATP certification examination blueprint, thepre-requisites to sit for it and the continuing educationrequirements to maintain it.

The survey component of the Job Task Analysis Surveylater this fall. If you work in assistive technology, wewant your input! Keep an eye out for informationfrom RESNA and NRRTS regarding this very importantsurvey, coming soon.
