The Senior Youth Panel in Naas is a combination of 3 age groups coming together at the end of the youths’ journey with the club. The plan for the group is to build on the exceptional training that the players receive up to the end of under 16, and help those players on their pathways into adult rugby, be that with representative teams or into our own under 20 set up
This is our second year of the Panel, and we are delighted to boast 55 playing members. All 55 have represented the club so well in the Leinster League this season and are fully deserving of their opportunity for silverware today.
We have two teams competing, one in the Leinster League Under 18 Premier final and the other in the Under 18 Division 2 final The fact that we are competing in both finals is testament to these players who have all worked hard since June last year to this point in March.
We have a group of five volunteer coaches who have given their time to help Naas RFC to develop this group, both as individuals and as a team. Lead by Rob Campbell, the coaching group of Tom Crampton, Mick Cahill, Michael Forde and Coleman Campbell have worked tirelessly with these young men to get them to where they are now.
As a group we appreciate the support and guidance from the coaches, members and players in Naas RFC. The backing of this panel by the club is a great support and demonstrates that player development is to the forefront of the thinking in Naas Rugby Club.
We would also like to thank the members of the greater Leinster Rugby Community who have offered their support through this season and throughout the development of our current playing group since they first started rugby, especially those with the Leinster Rugby Development programme and youths committee. Personally, I would like to acknowledge the work that John Treacy, coordinator of the under 18 league, does to support and develop rugby in our age group
I hope to see you all in Athy Rugby Club on Sunday afternoon for what promises to be 2 fantastic rugby games.
