PTC Group of Colleges provides a diverse range of learning opportunities for students, adult learners and employers, in some of the most up to date facilities of any education provider in the area. From specialist training rooms, to areas for students to relax and eat as well as top class sport, beauty and nursery facilities that are open to the public.
Campus Developments NEATH CAMPUS
Neath Campus is set to look very different from 2017 after plans for a £3m refurbishment of the Campuses’ A and B blocks have been provisionally approved by the Welsh Government. The ambitious refurbishment, part funded by the Welsh Government, will include a completely new external façade with glass atrium plus major internal work creating a modern and welcoming student hub, also creating better access with the installation of a new lift. Other parts of the Campus will also benefit from Government investment with the purchase of new state-of-the-art engineering lathes worth £155K and new carpentry equipment worth £90K.
PORT TALBOT
NPTC Group of Colleges has been granted provisional Welsh Government approval for the development of a multimillion College campus, bringing the first educational establishment to Harbourside in Port Talbot. Estimated to cost around £28m, the Campus will boast all the latest technological facilities and a dedicated Sixth Form Centre; the new site will give the area’s shopping centre a much welcome boost by bringing in more than 1,000 students daily. This development has been planned in line with the Harbourside Development Strategy of the local authority.
The planned development follows the £6.5m Llandarcy Academy of Sport which opened in 2012 and will be the first major development to the Neath Campus since the £2m Nidum Arts Centre was unveiled in 2009.
PONTARDAWE CAMPUS
Already established as a Centre of Excellence for Motor Vehicles with Snap-on Tools, the Pontardawe Campus will further that outstanding reputation by becoming a Centre of Excellence for Vehicle Body Repairs with refurbishment plans worth £260k*. This will include installation of panel beating and respraying bays and equipment. The Campus will be welcoming new students from September 2017.
*subject to Welsh Government approval.

A Levels, Vocational Courses or Apprenticeships? All can lead to Higher Education and Employment but which is right for you? A Levels
A Levels are academic, or study-based courses. Assessment is mainly by examination, with some coursework. A Levels have been the traditional route into Higher Education. The A Level qualifications are split into two separate parts - AS and A2. The AS Level forms part of the full A Level; it is a nationally recognised qualification on its own and is normally taught over one year. The A2 then forms the remainder of the A Level and is taught in the second year.
Vocational Courses
Vocational courses such as BTECs, NVQs and Diplomas are more practical courses and closely related to the world of work. There will still be some study-based learning but the amount varies according to the course taken. Assessment can be by practical assessment, portfolio assessment (coursework), and examination. Vocational courses at Level 3 are equivalent to 3 A Levels and also lead to university.
Apprenticeships
If studying full-time is not for you, then work-based learning could be exactly what you are looking for. There are programmes to suit everyone! Work-based learning gives you the chance to gain experience in a real job, plus job-specific qualifications whilst earning money.
Foundation Studies
The Foundation Studies courses are intended to help school leavers and young people with learning needs by developing their personal independence and prepare them for work. Students do not need any formal qualifications, just a desire to participate in all learning activities.
Essential Skills
Essential Skills have been revised to become one suite of Essential Skills including: Application of Number Digital Literacy Communication Enhanced Employability Skills Stand-alone qualifications in these skills will still be available post-16 and in Work-based Learning and Adult Community, as appropriate.

Learning Programmes

Each student will study a specific LP including their main qualification/subjects and each LP is made up of three parts. WBQ or Learning Core Tutorial

This can be added to the UCAS points and help in your application to university!
