Jefferson Elementary COVID Playbook 10/30/20 Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment for all students that mitigates the risks during the COVID pandemic. North Platte Public Schools has developed a playbook that addresses the daily operations of our schools. At Jefferson Elementary, we have highlighted areas that are unique to Jefferson to assist parents in understanding the expectations and routines unique to Jefferson Elementary. Students will be taught expectations the first day and continue throughout the school year. Students will learn proper social distancing, washing hands, masks and sanitizing. If the Community Risk Dial moves to 'red' North Platte Public Schools may not resort to Remote Learning as outlined in the information below. If the Community Risk Dial elevates into the 'red' zone, NPPS will continue to work with the West Central District Health Department (WCDHD) and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) to implement plans and protocols for continued in-person learning. Along with using the Community Risk Factors, NPPS will continue to use District Internal Factors, including the number of students and staff who are either quarantined or isolated weekly to make an informed decision. We will follow WCDHD and NDE recommendations to provide in-person learning while controlling and reducing the spread of COVID-19. NPPS will continue to collaborate with the WCDHD and NDE to evaluate and adjust our plans according to our community and schools' needs. Our primary objectives are to keep students and staff safe and school operating in-person learning. We know that the best place to provide educational, social, and emotional support to our students is in the school buildings. If NPPS, WCDHD, and NDE determine that in-person learning is not safe due to the spread of the coronavirus, classroom, schools, and/ or the district may resort to remote learning as a safe alternative.
Topic Curriculum & Instruction
In the occurrence of the community/school/classroom risk dial moving into the red zone: Students will attend one assigned zoom session per day. Reading Whole Group, Math, Writing and Grammar will be provided during this session. Sessions will be recorded for those students unable to join the live session. Recorded sessions will be in their assigned google classroom to view at your convenience. Kindergarten through Second Grade will be given 1.5 Hours of Instruction via Zoom. Third Grade through Fifth Grade will be given 2 Hours of Instruction via Zoom. Recorded lessons for PE, Music, Art, and Counseling will be pre-recorded and given on a rotating basis. Individual school session schedules & directions will be shared in the occurrence of the community/school/classroom risk dial moving into red. Students receiving additional services/interventions will have additional lessons set up with them in small groups with the teacher providing the services/interventions. *Students currently in remote learning will no longer follow the remote learning teacher, they will adjust to this plan by following their classroom teacher.
