PARKING LOT COMPLETE! More “signs” of progress are visible at the North Platte Catholic Schools, with the recent completion of the St. Pat’s High School parking lot. The lot was paved this fall, Condon Signs installed new signage just after Thanksgiving, and Jory Torres (’09) and crew painted the stripes right after school was dismissed for the 2023 Christmas break. The new lot designates an orderly flow of traffic, and provides a beautiful welcome for visitors to our campus. The main sign, beautifully crafted of brick that matches the high school building, sits at the corner of E Street and Silber. Skillfully incorporated into this sign are the stone cross and Littl St. Patrick’s School marker from the original McDaid building at 4th and Chestnut (pictured below). Many thanks are in order to all of the alumni and friends who contributed to this project through North Platte Giving Day 2023… With special gratitude for Mark Young (’83), who also donated the entrance sign at the corner of Silber and Leo Scherer Avenue. The sign commemorates the parking lot, and honors members of the St. Patrick’s High School Class of 1983. Former superintendent Bill McGahan (‘60) documented the demolition of the original McDaid building. View it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/0jl5Ar2GWL8? si=lYgdJDYy-EGHE_R9. Commemorative “Memories of the Old McDaid” books are available at the Endowment office. Call 308-534-5939, or stop by 601 S. Tabor Ave.
