編輯室的話
歌劇院「夏日放／FUN時光」在疫情翻滾中、在三級警戒緩坡降溫，在線上與現場虛實交錯下進行著，終於我們要重 新敞開大門，與藝文朋友們共同期待幕啟燈亮，享受表演者與創作者帶來的奇思妙想。
本期《歌劇院時刻》的主題文章，聚焦於即將在秋天展開的「遇見巨人」開幕演出──莎士比亞的妹妹們的劇團《混音 理查三世》。透過閱讀演員莫子儀與導演王嘉明的廚藝歷程與日常修行，讓我們更加好奇這場演出會變出什麼花樣。
在「歌劇院群像」專欄，我們將目光轉向歌劇院場館外圍的大片植栽景觀，一窺「綠劇人計畫」如何在社會賢達的參與 之下，共同打造出屬於市民的場所形象。「歌劇院Pick Up」專欄再一次選中個性獨具的歌劇院新駐點。
Editor’s Preface
Throughout ups and downs of the Pandemic NTT’s summer festival, Summer Fun Time, has been rolling out events and activities both on line and live. Now with the level 3 alert easing gradually, NTT is ready to open the door again and welcome our art-loving friends to join the exciting wait for curtain-up and to indulge in wonders brought by our performers and creators.
In this issue, NTT What’s On will feature the opening performance of 2021 Fall for Great Souls series, R3: The Remix Edition, by Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group. With a glimpse into cooking experiences and daily practices of Performer MO Tzu-yi and Director WANG Chia-ming, now we are even more intrigued about what they are going to dish out in the opening.
In “Portraits of NTT”, this month we will walk out to the external lush greenery outside the Theater complex and see how the program, “NTT Green Project”, lays out a landscape for all citizens with assistances from all walks of the society. While inside the complex, “NTT’s Pick Up” once again presents to you unique style shops stationed within NTT.

SHIH I-chiao Vocal Recital 2021 Trio d'Anches Sen
浪漫樂派強調的個人主義以及自由奔放音樂語言，因應 不同國家的在地文學、生活型態發酵成不同的樣貌，作 曲家擁有更多自由及發揮將自己的靈感譜寫於歌曲中。
石易巧嘗試以歌者的角度為大家介紹這個時期聲樂作品 的多樣性，帶來四位初期、中期及後期各自佔有一席之 地的作曲家聲樂作品，包括：顏森《悲嘆》、迪帕克三 首法文藝術歌曲、馬勒《呂克特之歌》，以及節奏強烈 且富饒童趣的葡萄牙文民謠─布拉加的五首巴西民謠。
The concert selected four composers of the early, the middle and the late Romantic era. SHIH I-chiao, mezzo-soprano, would introduce the diversity of vocal works of the Romantic period from the perspective of a singer. The repertoire includes Jensen: Dolorosa, Op.30, Braga: Cinco Canções Nordestinas do Folclore Brasileiro, Duparc: Three songs and Mahler: Rückert-Lieder
Trio d'Anches 這個組合原創於 1920 年代的法國巴黎，在 20 世紀前半期產出許多經典曲目。經過了 100 年的萃煉， 在遙遠的東方將以何種面貌呈現？一起玩音樂十年的森。 木管，將以絕佳的默契來挑戰及詮釋新曲目，並將創團 十年復刻版、堪稱 Trio d'Anches 試金石—E. Schulhoff 的 嬉遊曲再度搬上巡演舞台，又會呈現何種不同樣貌？ “Trio d’Anches Sen”, who play music together over ten years, will challenge and interpret the new repertoire with excellent tacit understanding. Otherwise, they present E. Schulhoff’s Divertissiment once again after 10 years. What kind of difference will it sound like? Welcome to join us for a wonderful exploration trip with music.

音樂是被「創造」出來的現實，透過音樂，人們體驗了 時間、價值與永恆。在這之中，我們是夢到蝴蝶的莊周， 也是夢到莊周的蝴蝶，一切皆在意識中成形。人與神、 理智與情感、陰陽、明暗、物質與精神、時間與空間， 萬物皆化為無形。如果說莫札特的音樂是來自於上天的 賦予，貝多芬則是嚮往天堂的自由，舒伯特是人世間的 柔軟，史特勞斯則如同光，他以豐沛的情感和才華，走 在時代尖端，帶領人們穿越光譜。
Music is a reality been created. In music, we experience time, values and eternity. Amongst, the I fly beyond our physical boundaries. Thee and He; time and space; nuance and spectrum. The interaction beyond the invisible structures between elements. Concerto for Solo Piano

本場音樂會將演奏浪漫樂派鋼琴家和作曲家阿爾康 （Charles-Valentin Alkan, 1813-1888）的作品《給鋼琴獨 奏的協奏曲》（Concerto for Piano Solo），此曲被編排在 1857 年出版的練習曲編號 39 之中，這套練習曲有許多創 舉，除了全部 12 首作品都是以小調作曲，且每個作品都 有相當的獨特性和技巧性。另外兩首曲目是由臺灣當代 作曲家洪綺蓮（HUNG Chi-lien, 1964-）創作，出生於臺 灣嘉義大林，曾任教於維也納舒伯特音樂學院，作品既 具獨特性又多樣化，不被傳統作曲手法限制，形式簡單， 風格深刻又令人難忘。
This concert will perform Concerto for Piano Solo by the romantic pianist and composer Charles-Valentin Alkan (1813-1888). The composition was arranged in the Etudes Op. 39 published in 1857. There were many Innovative ideas in this etude that year, except that all the twelve works were composed in minor, and each work has its own uniqueness and amazing technique. The other two pieces were composed by Taiwanese composer HUNG Chi-lien (1964- ). She was born in Dalin, Chiayi, Taiwan and taught at the Schubert Conservatory of Music in Vienna. Her composition are so fantastic, rich emotion and musicality. I contacted the composer about five years ago and told me that I would like to perform, and I have a deep feelings, not limited by traditional composing techniques, simple in form, profound and unforgettable in style.

Genesis One: Prometheus’ Dream
身處資訊爆炸的當代，思考已令人難以負荷，我們偶有 經歷感官扭曲與時空混置的狀態，龐雜的情感及思緒讓 大腦難以消化。若能研究大腦如何造夢，嘗試拋開「知 覺」並放大「視覺」、「聽覺」及「觸覺」等感官，我 們是否會對周遭人事物產生不同的認知？
本次演出，林映辰、張欣語及丹恩．賀三位年輕創作者 將透過互動式的魔術表演及聲光裝置，邀請觀眾一同進 入夢境——觀察時間形變、重塑空間虛實，參與刺激感 官的實驗；在自我探索、群體與空間的交互關係中，激 發感官新可能。
Living in the information overloaded era today, thinking is a big burden to the people. Sometimes, we feel under the conditions of perception distortion and misplaced time and space, and it is hard for our brain to digest all such complicated feelings and emotions. If it’s possible to study how the brain dreams and try to throw perception away and scale up the senses such as seeing, hearing, touching and etc., will we develop different understandings of the people, things and objects surrounding us?
The show, performed by three young creators, LIN Yingchen, CHANG Hsin-yu and Daan Ho, will apply interactive magic performance as well as sound and light devices to invite the audience to enter dreams - observing the shape changes of time, reshaping real and virtual space and being involved in the sensation-stimulating experiments; by way of self exploration and the interactive relationships between the group and spaces, the newly inspired and stimulated perceptions will be possible.

藝起進劇場─馬戲篇
Let's Go to the Theater - New Circus
歌劇院「藝起進劇場」突破教室的既定框架，創造現場 體驗的學習場域，師生實地到訪劇場欣賞演出，透過親 身參與、實際體驗，探索多面向的表演藝術。2021 年「藝 起進劇場」首次與馬戲合作，邀請 FOCA 福爾摩沙馬戲 團，由示範演出劇目《潘朵拉的盒子》延伸進劇場前、 中、後期系列活動。
三階段的活動安排讓馬戲突破傳統雜耍的認知，藉由示 範演出的參與及體驗，讓學生了解馬戲的技藝以及跨界 融合的多元性，期望藉此啟發青年學子的思考力、創造 力及想像力。
NTT “Let’s Go to the Theater” has broken the traditional frame of the classroom and created a learning space where students can learn through live experience. Teachers and students can visit the theater and enjoy performances so they can explore the multidimensional performing arts through their involvement in person and live experiences.
2021 “Let’s Go to the Theater” firstly introduces a demonstrative New Circus show, Pandora's Box, collaborating with the Formosa Circus Art to incorporate it into the early, middle and last stages of activity series in the program.
Such a three-stage arrangement makes the new circus breakthrough the traditional acrobatic image and allows the students to be involved in and experience the demonstrations so they learn the skills of the new circus and diversity of crossboundary fusions. It’s expected to inspire the thinking, creating and imagining capabilities of the young students.

2021年適逢馬勒逝世110週年，古典音樂台「2021愛 樂人講堂」特別擴大規模舉行馬勒交響曲系列講座，藉 由10堂課詳盡介紹馬勒的交響曲創作。主講人呂岱衛將 以深入淺出的方式、地毯式解析馬勒交響曲的創作背景 與音樂細節，希望讓更多樂迷能真正聽懂馬勒的音樂、 共感他的體悟，建立屬於自己的馬勒經驗。
2021 is the 110th death anniversary of Mahler. For this special occasion, Classical FM97.7 the "Classical Music Lectures" will host 10 lectures on Mahler’s symphonies and his way of composing.
LIU Dai-wei will introduce the background of each symphony and analyze all the musical details in a simple way, allowing more classical music fans to be able to truly understand Mahler's music, to empathize with Mahler, and finally to build their own "Mahler experience".

NTSO 開季音樂會 陳毓襄與國臺交 2021/22 Season Gwhyneth CHEN & NTSO
在上一樂季成功合作之後，國臺交駐團藝術家陳毓襄將 與國臺交再度聯手，於 2021/22 樂季的開季演出。這場 音樂會呈現浪漫的三種可能—威爾第《茶花女》的音樂 是典型的義大利、「南方」風格的；相當「北方」的布 拉姆斯第一號交響曲以渾厚中、低音域及壯濶的氣概體 現「自由而孤獨」的情懷；而蕭邦第二號鋼琴協奏曲兼 融南方與北方的格調，宛如歌劇詠唱調般的器樂歌唱， 被昇華成非常純粹、充滿詩意的「沒寄出的情書」。

臺中，又稱藝文之都，妙璇舞蹈團將以臺中火車站作為 文化背景，演繹出舊時光的美好景象，帶領觀眾一同重 回屬於這歷史建築的風光時代。此次邀請中部知名編舞 家，以復古的元素加入現代舞蹈中更多元的可能性，表 現出《驛》的絕妙風華！妙璇舞蹈團創立邁進第 21 年， 多次榮獲臺中市傑出演藝團隊之肯定，本次展演為新的 一個篇章，以舞蹈豐富的多元面向，結合各種可能性， 讓藝術之美更具有內涵與層次。
Taichung, also known as the city of arts and culture, will use the Taichung Railway Station as the cultural background to interpret the beautiful scenes of the old days, leading the audience to return to the historical building's glamorous era with us, and inviting well-known choreographers from central Taiwan to add more diverse possibilities in modern dance with vintage elements to express the wonderful beauty of the Station’s memory! This show is a new chapter in the company's history, combining various possibilities with the rich diversity of dance to give more substance and layers to the beauty of art.

LIAO Szu-wei Message in a Bottle
現在大家習慣將「書信」當一個名詞使用，但在古代 「書」和「信」是有區別的，「書」指信件；「信」指 使者，即傳遞信件之人。所以「人言」不僅代表情感與 想法的傳達，也象徵往來書信者共同擁有的情懷記憶。 作品以「瓶中信」的概念出發，從茫茫人海中遇見彼此 到相知相惜，宛如海上的瓶中信一般，即便漫無目的漂 流， 但遙遠的彼岸或許正有人因為它而展開一段故事。
Now people habitually use “shuxin” (letter) as a noun, but “shu” (letter) and “xin” (message) were different from each other in ancient times. “Letter” meant mail and “message” meant messenger, who was the man delivered the messages; the “people’s message” thus represented not only passing on feelings and thoughts but also the sentiments and memories shared by the correspondents.
The artwork is created based on the concept of “message in a bottle”; they met each other among the crowd and cherished each other. It’s just like a message in a bottle floating in the ocean; someone’s story may be about to unfold, far away on the other side, though the bottle is floating without a destination.

戲中壁Ｘ A Wall inside a Play X
1947 年劇作家簡國賢寫下《壁》在中山堂演出被禁止，隨著劇作 家遭到槍決，劇本也佚失，直到八〇年代末簡國賢的遺孀理子女 士透過研究者讓深藏多年的劇本重現。劇作家Ｘ寫下《戲中壁》 這劇本，試著重現 1950 年代的前輩劇作家簡國賢及同志們的思 想、行動及遭遇，寫作中的Ｘ反覆琢磨，卻在歷史的記憶與當代 詮釋中陷入困惑。為了讓行動和創作，不在記憶的迷霧中被時間 之流推向前，角色們不請自來地現身劇作家Ｘ的眼前。面對歷史 遺留的問號，不同世代的時代精神與政治氛圍，將有如何的對話？ 歷史的清白是否可能？
In 1947, the dramaturgist CHIEN Kuo-hsien wrote and staged a play, The Wall, which was subsequently banned. With the dramaturgist executed, the play also disappeared. It was not until the end of the 1980s that the widow of CHIEN Li-zi, revealed its hidden existence through a researcher’s hands. Another dramaturgist, X, writes the play of A Wall inside a Play, which tries to represent thoughts, actions and encounters of the old dramaturgist and his fellows in the 1950s. Mulling over the text, X seems to be lost in historical memories and contemporary interpretation. In order to prevent actions and the creation from petering out along the temporal stream in the mist of memory, the personalities of the play present themselves before X uninvited. Facing the questions left behind by the history, what dialogues could happen among generations whose zeitgeists and political atmospheres are varied and divergent. Would the truth ever be possible?

克拉拉．舒曼和羅伯特．舒曼，兩者皆為重要的浪漫時 期作曲家，克拉拉本人甚至是極具盛名的音樂神童及鋼 琴演奏家。兩人的關係起始於羅伯特拜克拉拉的父親為 師，並維持一段長達 30 多年的愛慕、情侶，甚而婚姻關 係。無論是克拉拉音樂中的德奧傳統，或是羅伯特的雙 重性格 ( 陰暗面及熱情面 )，甚至是他眼中的克拉拉，都 將在此場音樂會中透過多首精心安排的曲目，娓娓道來 他們的愛情故事。
Clara Schumann and Robert Schumann were both important composers in the romantic period. Clara herself was even the socalled "music prodigy" in her time, and was a very famous pianist. The relationship between the two maintained a relationship that lasted for more than 30 years. Whether it’s the German and Austrian tradition in Clara’s music, or Robert’s dual character (the dark side and the enthusiastic side), or even Clara in his eyes, they all introduce to you in this recital through an arranged repertoire.

In the age of underdeveloped labor rights in 1960, female workers worked as homeworkers all their lives. They sacrificed their youth for the family’s economy. These young ladies were too negligible to dream the future, they had no choices but gave up their dreams and faced the reality instead. This is a story of Taiwanese female homeworkers in the 60s, and their daily pains and their small dreams.

「空谷幽蘭」比喻一個人的品格十分高雅、氣質清新脫 俗。音樂方面，則是形容演奏家的風格並不刻意地迎合 社會的主流價值，而是以最真摯樸實的情感向聽眾娓 娓訴說，如同山谷中的蘭花，優雅地綻放。本次音樂 會，旅法薩克斯風演奏家、同時也是臺中古典音樂電台 FM97.7「風中的樂音」節目主持人－閻正天，將帶來多 首改編作品。這些音樂饒富詩意與歌唱性，彷彿空谷幽 蘭之聲，細膩純淨柔化心靈，道出一首首簡單平凡卻又 深刻感動的故事。
"Orchid in the valley " is a Chinese metaphor for describing the elegancy and refinement of one’s character and temperament. In terms of music, it paints a portrait of a musician who, instead of catering to the mainstream values of the society deliberately, play with sincerity and pure emotion, like an orchid in the valley blooming gracefully. In this recital, saxophonist YEN Chentien who is also the radio host of “Classical FM97.7", will bring a number of transcriptions – rich in poetry and singing like the orchid in the valley, delicate and pure, softening the soul and telling a simple but moving story.”

Walking down the streets of Taiwan, we can often hear idiosyncratic folk music. Music is nothing but a reflection of time. It reflects how deep a cultural reservoir we have here in Taiwan. Each and every song has a charm of its own, and has enthralled us all. This time, we invited indigenous performers from Smangus, Jianshi Town, Hsinchu. They brought along several songs that tell the story of the Atayal people, of how they connect themselves with the land, of how they pass on their culture via tunes. In the concert there will be songs, songs that honor the interactions of men and nature, songs that resemble intricate flowers, and flowers that blossom upon the fertile soil of Atayal culture. We sincerely invite you to join us and enjoy these sonorous emotions our earth passed onto us. Let us listen to the sound of land, together.

本課程邀請歌仔戲新生代小生陳禹安策劃、授課，以李清照私人劇團感傷動作派《許仙》精選唱段，結合小生持扇之 身形訓練課程，藉由基礎唱謠與身形律動分解練習，帶領後青年學員認識歌仔戲台上行腔轉韻與手、眼、身、法、步 的綜合藝術體現。
The program will have young Taiwanese opera star, CHEN Yu-an to plan and teach. She will take the selected sections of Khóo Sian, created by Physical Sentimental Theatre Company of LeeQingZhao the Private, as the educational materials. By combining the body posture while holding the folding fan of the young male characters in Taiwanese opera, she will guide the students to learn the body performances of the young male characters and the graceful parts of the rhythm. Along with the lyrics singing and tones turning of the Taiwanese opera, demonstrating the basic lyrics singing and the body movements split practice.

How do office workers study during the busy working hours? Will they always feel anxious and upset while facing the daily stress? Come to NTT to recharge! In 2019, a group of twenty participants in their golden years, led by the musical actor, YEH Wen-hao, set out to exude their newly found brilliance and confidence on the stage. In 2021, under NTT’ s invitation, Mr. YEH will again embark on the colorful journey of musical performance with a whole new group of adventureseekers. A series of ten musical classes are prepared to evoke your internal performing energy. Touch Wave Workshop for the Visually Impaired by CHENG I-lly, Artist in Residence, 2021-2022
歌劇院駐館藝術家鄭伊里與協同講者雷雅涵運用「演奏引導」、「聆聽」與「反饋討論」的方式，將帶領視障者演奏 由木質共鳴箱、鐵絲與水等不同介質所建構的「聲音表演裝置」。
參與者在未知中觸碰到裝置並同時發出聲響，藉由藝術家的引導誘發他們對於觸覺與聽覺的感知和聯想，再藉由電子 聲波轉為震動觸感，引導參與者探索觸覺與演奏方式的相互關聯性，激發視障者的創造力與想像力。
With "guided playing", "listening" and "feedback discussion", NTT Artist in Residence CHENG I-lly together with co-lecturer Theresa LEI invite participants with visual impairments to play a "sound performance installation" constructed with different media, including wooden sound boxes, wires and water. Sounds are triggered by unknowing participants' touches, who will be further guided by the artists to develop their own perceptions and imaginations related to touch and sound. Their collaboration will be transformed into vibration caused by electronic sound waves. An artist-guided exploration of the interconnectivity between touch and ways of playing music aims to tap into the creativity and imagination of the visually impaired.

此場座談由歌劇院駐館藝術家周曼農邀請具有沉浸式劇場及參與式劇場豐富創作經驗的導演洪千涵一起對談，先探討 「沉浸」與「參與」的概念源流，再運用實作經歷及案例分享，針對創作的種種面向交流對話，期待能提出對當代展 演的新觀點。
The 2021-2022 NTT Artists in Residence, CHOU Man-nung invites Director HUNG Chien-han to conduct this special dialogue on the conceptual origins of "immersion" and "participation" as well as sharing cases of actual productions. As HUNG Chien-han is a highly experienced director in the immersive and participatory theaters, this dialogue tries to explore various dimensions of theatrical creation and to introduce new perspectives to contemporary performance.

NTT 放映室秋季動畫夜與 TIAF 臺中國際動畫影展合作，本月《2019-2020 TIAF 得獎動畫片 - 小朋友篇》特別精選 13 部適合小朋友與大朋友共同觀賞之動畫短片，訴說溫馨童趣、奇思妙想的個人故事，亦或家庭關懷、社會、生態的議題， 共享動畫的多元面向。
其中《吉祥物輓歌》榮獲 2019「短片競賽」首獎，本片隱喻韓國公務員考試生態，動畫主角狐狸住在一間窄小房子裡， 瘋狂打工存錢、參加訓練班，只為了達成畢生最大的心願——成為「城市吉祥物」。
In collaboration with TIAF, NTT Cinema specially presents 2019-2020 TIAF Award Winning Films - For Children with thirteen animation short films suitable for both children and adults in its autumn screening evenings. Full of warm and wondrous personal stories, depicting family, social or ecological issues, these animations offer multiple dimensions for the audience across ages to explore and ponder.
Mascot, the winner of the Grand Prix of short films at TIAF, is a metaphor for the civil servant examination system of South Korea. The protagonist, a fox, living in a tiny house and crazily saving money with part-time jobs for attending the intensive preparation program, hopes to realize his dream of life – becoming "the mascot of the city."

年近七旬的京劇界叛逆老頑童吳興國面對疫情，始終抱持沉穩，依舊天天練功養精蓄銳，將硬底子功夫傳承給年輕一 輩。1986 年創立的當代傳奇劇場，以《慾望城國》創新傳統京劇的手法造成一時轟動。2013 年英國愛丁堡藝術節開幕 作品《蛻變》為當代傳奇劇場改編自卡夫卡《變形記》的作品，首度將表演與超現實影像結合，開創科技藝術之先河。 本場講座由京劇界傳奇人物帶您品味當代傳奇劇場成立 35 年以來，不斷地創新、引領風潮的心路歷程。
At almost seventy and facing the COVID-19 challenges, the old bad boy of Peking Opera, WU Hsing-kuo, still stands tall, follows through his daily practices and prepares to pass on all his hard trainings to the next generation. Established in 1986, the Contemporary Legend Theatre rocked the world of performing arts with its debut, The Kingdom of Desire, a Peking Opera innovation. In 2013 Edinburgh Art Festival, the Contemporary Legend Theatre presented the opening performance with Metamorphosis, an adaptation of Kafka's title of the namesake. It was WU's first attempt to bring together performing art and surreal visionary, as well as to chart out a new path in technology and arts. In this lecture, the true legend of Peking Opera will lead you through thirty-five years of the Contemporary Legend Theatre, along a path of continuous innovation and trend-setting.

金馬影帝的 口語計畫

莫子儀為歌劇院 NTT-TIFA 《指尖上的幸 福人生》擔任華語版旁白的聲音表情仍 讓人記憶猶新，在莎士比亞的妹妹們的 劇團即將公演的《混音理查三世》中， 他又要扮演吃重的角色，既挑戰觀眾， 又魅惑觀眾。當上金馬獎影帝並沒有改 變莫子儀數十年如一日的劇場修行，他 仍不斷復盤那永遠處於「進行中」的口 語計畫。本文特邀劇場編導劉亮延，以 同行的視角，帶領讀者閱讀莫子儀的「聲 音表情」。
時間倒轉回 2000 年，莫子儀大學三年級。他說，一整年的時間裡，每個禮拜都要錄一卷 錄音帶交給老師，內容是朗讀各種各樣讀物，從劇本、小說、詩歌到報紙，作為口語訓 練的作業。他的表演老師是馬汀尼，臺灣重要的莎劇導演，任教時期尤其專注於演員台 詞口語訓練，市場傳言平日課堂以苛薄嚴厲著稱。而莫子儀之所遭受週週折磨，大半原 因來自於口語能力不及要求。馬老師對錄音帶作業也僅作簡短回應，能夠想像，青春苦 學美少年那段日子不曾得過太多令他飛揚若狂的讚美。這叫土法煉鋼，每週繳交 30 分鐘 錄音帶，然後緊張得不知道老師怎麼說。暗巷裡摸索，台詞口條真心不容易，究竟什麼 叫做唸得好，便又暗忖著下週將要又去覓什麼誦讀。這位金馬影帝的 20 年前，就在閱讀 與唸誦，一段段剪接聲音的練習，可以說就是在找文章自己讀給自己聽的日子中度過。
表演的訓練，很大一部分容易被理解成外部形式的訓練，怎麼說話就像腿能劈多開一 樣。運動競技的隱喻在戲劇教育的世界中，實際上也無可避免，但有意思的是，莫子儀 這段經歷，如今講述起來更像閱讀與理解的訓練，而非發音咬字、標準正統化的問題。
這是一個關鍵性的轉折時期，在臺灣的歷史發展中，漸漸可以從國語文標準的比賽，轉 移到國語文表達的溝通了。演員說話的技術，更多時候來自於語言文字的閱讀能力，其 中更大一部分是想像，往前的叫妄想，往後的叫回憶。簡言之就是一種文學的能力。
莫子儀表示，對於表演的口語問題，讓他產生更深體會的，是在排練王嘉明導演改編自 莎劇《泰特斯・安特洛尼克斯》（Titus Andronicus）的作品《泰特斯 - 夾子 / 布袋版》 （2003）。該劇演出中，演員戴著面具，扮演戲偶。剝奪了臉部表達以及自然身體後的 表演，讓莫子儀嚐到台詞口語的魔力。在同一齣戲中，莫子儀還同時注意到麥克風的特 性，瞬間能把人物變大又變小。
對於表演而言，說話是一件相當困難的事情。觀眾要樂意聽才能進入，也才會相信。面對台上的對手也是 如此。為了要讓人接受，莫子儀提到了身體方法。他有時侯會借助於外部形式，將自己裝進一個人物裡， 尤其在影視作品的表演中，例如透過服裝道具的輔助，乃至劇本或檔案資料中有可能的線索，例如氣候情 形、季節等對身體的影響。莫子儀第三次使用非母語，接演客家戲，是 2018 年客家電視台連續劇《台北 歌手》，為了要表現臺灣客籍作家、音樂家呂赫若（1914-1950），除了硬著頭皮練客語，讓同輩客家人 ( 譬 如撰稿人 ) 驚聲嘆嘆以外。他還練鋼琴、學習美聲演唱。其中他特別提到，潮濕空氣裡西裝革履的身體經 驗，那是拍攝期間他特別仔細辨識的細節。
莫子儀讀劇本的習慣有很多，有些時候甚至帶著粉碎性的快感。他提到自己會嘗試一些主題設定，譬如以 溫度為主題，從冷到熱。以顏色為主題，從粉色的夢到土色農村。在海底，在湖心，種種近乎想像力的重 量訓練。拿到劇本，先從冷讀開始，從一個不相干的外人、第三者，冷靜通讀幾回。
如冷靜通讀《紅樓夢》時，保持一個與人物情感平行的距離，為一個人物建立一個習慣，怎麼樣說話、為 什麼這樣、如果不這樣又會如何，練習借助於外部的限制，從第一顆扣子，比較緊的襯衫，帽子，鞋襪。
人物創作出來之後，還要一次一次地放棄重來，避免成為套式。
作為臺灣七年級裡最老的男演員，莫子儀面對劇場影視的兩岸交流問題時，對於口音的考 量，可能具備更為世故的理解。他指出，「說話」是一種表演的能力，口音的轉換是能力 的問題，工作開始之後當然需要花時間琢磨，口音不至於變成身分認同的問題，不是普通 話、北京話、臺灣腔的問題，而是演員透過「說話」，能不能表達出情感，進而被接受。
莫子儀間接表達了對穿著戲服上大街，刻意用口音展示自己，這類習慣的負面看法。
普通日子裡，莫子儀對聲音有過度敏感的問題，可以說讓他受苦受難。據說他睡覺的房間， 牆壁門縫都需要特殊隔音設備，生活裡壁鐘、手錶、水滴、風扇、暗自的馬達這些聲響都 會影響到他。走在街上，對於吵鬧或安靜，他的標準與一般人不大相同。白噪音可能對他 來說並不是白色的意思。
再看一遍 2020 年的臺灣電影《親愛的房客》，莫子儀的表演，愛語喃喃聲氣滿枝，他在 說話層次上的講究足以總結了本文，一覽無遺。
街角遇見莫子儀，恐怕不能確定，影帝的耳朵，是不是都塞了耳塞子呢？

說起來一定不是巧合， 1997 年在屏風演劇祭，王嘉明 加入莎士比亞的妹妹們的劇團（簡稱莎妹劇團）的第一 個作品就跟病毒有關：《伊波拉―關於病毒倫理學的純 粹理性批判》，但除了套用世紀病毒的大帽子，這個戲 就是齣不斷拆解文字及語意的凶案推理劇，與伊波拉毫 不相干。

2021 年來到 COVID-19 後疫情階段，病毒不是遙遠的非洲駭聞，而是全球的日常。即將在今年四度上演的 《理查三世》（本次演出劇名為《混音理查三世》），卻受到病毒假期的正面衝擊，居家隔離的日子裡， 王嘉明彷彿現代版的生活家李漁，在網路世界裡發展他的閒情愜意，谷歌食材與料理作法、洗衣劑的優劣 評比、主菜與酒的配對等等，天將降大任之前先放了大假，除了百分之三十的時間貢獻給視訊教學與會議， 百分之六十的時間都在網路上拼貼有滋有味的生活閒情。
