Event to tackle men’s wellbeing SALDANHA - A Men’s Day event to tackle mental health, masculinity and the pressures facing men is imminent. Men’s health, mental resilience, financial well-being and the pressures associated with modern masculinity will be among the topics explored at a Men’s Day event at The Bay Club & Social at Blue Bay Lodge in Saldanha on Saturday 21 November. Presented by The Better Man Project, the event aims to create a space for honest conversations about the challenges men face, from financial responsibilities and fatherhood to loneliness, physical health and the pressure to perform. The programme runs from 11:30 to 17:30, followed by a screening of the Springboks versus Ireland rugby match on a big screen from 18:00. The two panel discussions will feature speakers with experience in finance, psychology, urology, fatherhood and professional sport. Among them are Pieter Rousseau, a wealth manager at PSG Wealth; counselling psychologist Trevor Hall; urologist Dr Jonathan Wicht; life coach and mentor Richard Boome; and former professional rugby player Bernard Le Roux, who made 47 appearances for France between 2013 and 2023. Kyle John Dods, co-founder of The Better Man Project, entrepreneur and owner of The My Place Group, will serve as master of ceremonies. Topics will include mental resilience, the relationship between masculinity and vulnerability, financial pressures,
the importance of physical health checks, fatherhood and breaking patterns of high-performance expectations. The organisers say the initiative is about encouraging men to retain positive aspects of traditional masculinity while challenging habits and expectations that may no longer serve them or future generations. FIRST INITIATIVE The discussions will be followed by a five-station Frankie Fenner braai feast prepared by chefs Scott Parker, Dods and Andrew Nel. The day will also include access to financial advisers from PSG, on-site health assessments with Vitality points logged, business and social networking opportunities, a welcome beer and KNOX hydration throughout the event. Each full-day ticket includes a men’s gift pack valued at R1 300, featuring merchandise, a Men’s Health magazine, hydration products and vouchers. Tickets cost R1 195 per person for the full-day programme. A full-day ticket with bed and breakfast accommodation costs R2 445 per person sharing. Early-bird tickets have sold out. The event is the first initiative of The Better Man Project, which aims to encourage accountability, personal growth and more open conversations about masculinity. No under-16s are permitted. Tickets are available through Quicket. Bookings can also be made directly through Blue Bay Lodge on 022 714 1177 or reservations@bluebaylodge.co.za. For further enquiries, contact Dods on 082 419 7307.

Two NGOs join hands Noluvu Ludidi LANGEBAAN - Two initiatives, Loaves of Love and The Crown Keepers, have joined forces to support vulnerable families, empower women and young girls, and strengthen communities across the West Coast. The partnership was celebrated at a high tea at the Langebaan Yacht Club on Wednesday 21 October, where 27 women gathered for a fun and beautiful day of women celebrating one another. Livia van As of Loaves of Love said the initiatives shared a vision of bringing hope to those in need while creating opportunities for women to grow. “Loaves of Love is a vision God placed on my heart to bring hope, nourishment and dignity to those in need, while The Crown Keepers is Mariette Vorster’s inspiration to uplift and empower women,” she said. Through food support, mentor-
ship, skills development and encouragement, the initiatives aim to help vulnerable families and create opportunities for women and young girls. Van As believes that no child should go hungry and no woman should feel that her dreams do not matter, and with this initiative this is what they want to achieve. Mariette Vorster of The Crown Keepers said the partnership demonstrated the value of women supporting and celebrating one another. “Every woman has her own unique story, challenges, and dreams, and we don’t need to share the same path to celebrate each other’s victories,” she said. Vorster said the vision was to create a safe, empowering space where women could recognise one another’s potential and turn their dreams into reality. The initiatives plan to expand their outreach and establish further partnerships with local businesses and community members.

as ‘gebou’.

“ ’n polisiekantoor is ’n dienspunt.

Sou jy ’n bydrae wil gee, kontak Sheridene by 065 337 4655 of Elton by 073 393 4681.
