THORNHILL’S You Nice Soup Kitchen has once again brought joy to thecommunity, this time through thedistributionofEaster eggs and fruit to underprivileged children.
Recently, approximately200 children received the special treats, in line with the number of beneficiaries thesoup kitchen supports weekly.
Thefounder,Eunice Boesman, said the moment was filled with emotion as the children received theirgifts
“The children’sfaces litupwith joyand excitement. Many expressed thanks, some clapped and cheered, while others huggedtheir giftstightly. For many, itwas arare treat that brought smiles and laughter,” said Boesman.
She emphasised the importance of such gestures, particularly for children growing up in difficultcircumstances.
“Receiving giftslike fruit and Easter eggs is something big for our children in the townships. This could be the only gift they have ever received.
“It provides emotional upliftment,a sense of belonging, memorableexperiences, and encouragement to stay hopeful despite hardships,” said Boesman.
Boesman also highlighted theimportance of acknowledging those who madethe initiative possible, noting thatrecognising donors not only shows appreciation but alsoencourages continued support and inspires others to contribute.
The latest outreach forms part of the ongoing work of You Nice Soup Kitchen, which she started from her home. Sinceits establishment, thenon-prof-
it organisation has grown significantly, bothindemand and impact
What began as an effort to feed just over 100 people aweek has expanded to reach around 200 individuals weekly, including children, senior residents, and families in need.
“The soup kitchen continues to serve each week faithfully, despiterising food costsand growing demand. With thehelp of volunteers and local partners, it remains abeacon of hope in thecommunity,”said Boesman.
Soup is still served every Wednesday, with around 200 people relying on the weekly meal
Boesman’s home remains open to those in need beyond thescheduled feeding days, offering support to anyone who comes seeking help.
Looking ahead, she hopes to expand theinitiative further.
“The vision is to grow from aoncea-week initiative into adaily feeding programme, expanding our reach to neighbouring communities such as Loerie, Hankey, and thefarms around Thornhill,” said Boesman.
However, she noted that continued support is essential to sustain and grow theinitiative.
Boesman said that current needs include food donations such as vegetables, staples, and fruit.
They are also in need of financial assistance to cover rising costs, volunteers to help with preparation and serving, and transport support to reach surrounding areas.

Johan Joubert is as die oudste van drie kinders in dieSandfordKraaminrigting in Gqeberha gebore.
As plaasseun was hy eenvan 18 leerdersindie Wolwefontein Laerskool. Interessant genoeg, was sy ouersseplaas se naamHaasfontein.

So sterfdie muis toe inderdaad tydens chirurgie.
