Inwoners van Rayton is op die oorlogspad oor ’n voerkraal met beeste en skape wat op ’n erf in Ray Championstraat begin is
’ n Amptelike ondersoek word nou deur die Mangaung-metro se gesondheidsafdeling gedoen om te bepaal of dit toelaatbaar is dat sowat 35 beeste en 40 skape op die erf aangehou word
Die beeste word aangehou op ’ n erf reg langs Beudene, ’ n gespesialiseerde dagsorgsentrum en terapeutiese groep vir kinders met spesiale behoeftes
Beulah van Aswegen, stigter van Beudene, sê sy het op 24 Junie kort nadat die eerste beeste hier hul verskyning gemaak het met die eienaar gaan praat
Hy het toe vir haar gesê dit is net ’ n tydelike reëling, totdat hy die beeste na sy plaas in Bainsvlei verskuif
Dit is al byna twee maande later, en in plaas daarvan dat die beeste verskuif is, het hulle meer geword met ’ n trop skape wat intussen ook hier gevestig is
Die beeste het aanvanklik in die veld daarnaas gewei, maar dit is gestop en nou word die vee gevoer
Van Aswegen is bekommerd omdat hulle twee maal ’ n dag kos maak vir die sowat 100 kinders en volwassenes wat daagliks hier versorg word en etes kry
“Ek het baie hard gewerk om al my registrasies in plek te kry sodat die skool veilig is en dit aan al die regulasies voldoen”
Sy sê veral die kinders wat serebrale gestremdhede het, is vatbaar vir siektes
“Die kinders speel oral hier op die
hoewe in die veld, en ons is bekommerd oor dinge soos bosluise”
Noelene van Rooyen, wat in Lilyvalestraat naby die “kraal” woon, sê sedert die beeste hier gevestig is, is daar groot, blou brommers in haar huis
“Daar is sowat ses gastehuise en ‘ n restaurant in Rayton, en die teenwoordigheid van die trop beeste hier skep vir ons almal probleme,” sê sy Van die kwessies wat in ’ n amptelike verslag deur die departement van gesondheid uitgewys word, is slegte reuke en ’ n oormaat vlieë, die bestuur van afvalstowwe en die invloed van helder ligte wat dwarsdeur die nag op die diere skyn
Inwoners sê die helder lig wat op die beeste skyn, verblind motoriste wat in die nag in Ray Championstraat ry veral omdat die perseel op die skerp draai in dié straat is Johan Pretorius, die DA-wyksraadslid in die wyk waarin Rayton val, sê ondersoeke word nou deur verskillende departemente, asook die staatsveearts, gedoen
“Daar moet vasgestel word van waar die beeste kom Bek-en-klouseer is in baie plekke ’ n probleem, en ons wil seker maak dat hierdie beeste nie daaraan ly nie”
Pretorius sê die metro moes lankal optree het
“Hulle moet weekliks ’ n boete uitreik vir die onwettige aanhou van vee ”
Hy sê burgerlike beskerming wag vir besluitnemers oor grondgebruik wat kan beslis of dit landbougrond is en dat beeste daar toegelaat word Met die ontwikkeling van Shellyvale is Rayton tot ’ n residensiële gebied hersoneer Munisipale regulasies vir residensiële eiendom geld dus
“As die metro besluit dit is ’ n landbougebied, skuld hy baie geld aan inwoners wat residensiële tariewe betaal”
Zaandré Campher, bestuurder van die Bloemfonteinse DBV, sê dié instansie se skutstatus by die Mangaung-metro het verval en hulle mag nie groot of klein diere skut nie
“As ons nog skutstatus gehad het, sou die DBV kon optree,” sê hy

Dit het ’n week se beplanning geverg om sy geliefde Saterdag op ’n Vrouedag-skietgeleentheid te vra om sy vrou te word.
Só vertel Gerrit Brandt, een van die baanbeamptes op die skietdag op die Arizona-skietbaan buite Bloemfontein, wat vir vroue aangebied is
Hy het Toni Leigh Oosthuizen vyf maande gelede ontmoet, en ’ n maand later het hulle begin uitgaan
“Vrydag voor die skietdag was ons vier maande saam, en ek het besluit om haar Saterdag op die skietbaan te vra om te trou
“Dit was ’ n logistieke uitdaging om alles gereël te kry en te reël dat die families ook daar is”
Die beplanning was om haar te vra net nadat sy om 13:00 geskiet het
“Dit was moeilik om my konsentrasie op my werk te hou tot dan Kort voor een het ek vir haar gesê sy moet nou gaan skiet Sy het nog teëgestribbel en gesê dat sy moet werk
“Sy het vyf skote geskiet Sy sit hulle so bitter mooi op daardie teiken neer, ”

Ná ’ n rukkie het hy haar gevra: “Is dit ’ n ja,” en sy het gesê: “Ja”
Gerrit sê dit was lekker om dit met familie en sy vriende – wat ook baanbeamptes is te deel

Solutions, wat die skietdag aangebied het, sê die geleentheid was ’ n reuse-sukses Daar was 150 vroue, en almal het dit baie geniet

Effort both on, off field applauded

The Free State Sport Association for the Physically Disabled and Visually Impaired (FSSAPD) held their annual prize giving ceremony on 2 August, at the Martie du Plessis School
It was no suprise that Louzanne Coetzee won the FSSAPD’s sport star of the year award with her participation in the 2024 Paralympic Games, where she received a bronze medal in the 1 500m and finished seventh in the marathon
She also competed in the London Marathan and ran a personal best in the 21km at the South African Sports Association for Physically Disabled (SASAPD) National Championships in Gqeberha at the end of March She is now preparing to run the Berlin Marathon in September
The junior female sport star of the year is Valerie Cooper, a para-cyclist from Martie du Plessis who took part in the national championships

At the national championship she also set a new record in the 800m
The senior male sport star is Mojalefa Majake, who won two gold medals in para-cycling at nationals in the 10km trail and the 20km road race
The Free State cycling team won the team of the year title
Dawid Landry was named coach of the year for inspiring his goalball team to win bronze at nationals
earlier this year and missed beating the records in the 1 500m and 800m events by a few seconds She won four gold medals in a strong field
Cristiano Nieman was named the junior male sport star of the year for his participation in para-cycling This Martie du Plessis learner won four gold medals at the nationals and bested two South African records in the 100m and 3 000m track events

Some other awards for administrators were also handed out Joseph Nkghale (CP Soccer) received an award for mentorship of the year, Mari Labuschagne (para-cycling) was named administrator of the year Alfred Thena was named most valued contributer Roselia Moteka of the Tswellang Special School was made an honorary life member Ernesta Strydom (Para-athletics), Marisa Potgieter (boccia, both of Martie du Plessis) and Coetzee, of the University of the Free State (UFS), represented South Africa abroad
