At Novus , we have vast experience in the healthcare sector. Our dedicated healthcare team are trained and knowledgeable about working in live environments, enabling us to successfully deliver patient and service-user focussed care facilities for both the NHS and private providers.
For healthcare providers, the needs of the patient are the number one priority and the contribution that the physical environment has on their health and wellbeing should not be underestimated.
The key to our approach is our understanding that every healthcare facility has unique requirements, allowing us to provide a bespoke service for each project and client. Working to achieve our client’s goals, we put patient wellbeing at the heart of all we do and collaboratively work with key stakeholders to deliver works around the core healthcare provision.
From our experience in the healthcare sphere, we can give positive and reassuring answers to all stakeholders involved in the provision of care across a wide spectrum of needs.
Our highly trained, security cleared site teams will implement controls to prevent patients, staff, and visitors from encountering live works. We fully induct all our site teams in hospital protocols and provide them with contract specific training to ensure safety while effectively managing the live environment.

Through delivery of Measured Term Contracts (MTC) for our healthcare clients, we have built our reputation on excellent service and customer care, coupled with outstanding performance and competitive pricing.
Alongside our partners, including the NHS, Novus completes numerous healthcare and hospital refurbishment, maintenance and compliance projects each year.
As a business, we are proudly appointed to frameworks across the healthcare sector for a variety of clients. These include:
Client: Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
Value: £40m
Duration: 2015 - Ongoing
In July 2015, we were appointed to a Measured Term Contract Framework with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Since then we have worked with the Trust to maintain, improve upgrade and refurbish their hospital estate, which includes Trafford General Hospital, the birthplace of the NHS.
Scope of works:
• Major capital investment programme.
• Internal refurbishment.
• Infrastructure upgrades including fire stopping works and M&E upgrades.
• Maintenance and lifecycle improvement work.
We had the challenge of working in live hospital environments. To overcome this, our teams carried out the works with minimal noise and disruption to the staff, patients and the public. We took the time to understand operational requirements through regular stakeholder liaison meetings before, during and after the refurbishment works programme.
I’m really proud of the effort from everyone involved. I’m excited to see what we can all do together soon!
Daniel Parry, Director of Estates & Facilities
Client: University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust
Value: £18m (£1.5m p.a.)
Duration: 2012 - Ongoing
We have built a strong relationship with the Trust delivering works at Royal Stoke University Hospital for nearly 10 years. Throughout this framework we have been awarded projects based on our successful track record which is a testament to our strong relationship with the Trust.
In 2020 we were successfully reappointed onto a three-year MTC framework at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Scope of works:
• Minor works which include:
- Decoration works
- Refurbishment
- M&E alterations
- External landscaping
- Maintenance
One of the most challenging projects was reconnecting two parts of the Royal Stoke University Hospital site with an extensive elevated walkway repair. The walkway was situated over a busy road and had to be fully encapsulated to protect the general public and traffic below. The team produced a comprehensive road and traffic plan, and a pedestrian diversion for the project’s duration.
Novus carried out works to a superb standard on what was a very challenging project, given the bridge’s location over a busy road. This potentially disruptive project for the hospital was very well co-ordinated by Novus operatives who worked in a sensitive manner throughout to provide staff, patients and visitors with a safe walkway.
