EDITORIAL What do fields such as culture, sport, tourism and brands have in common ?

These topics are related to one another by their ÂŤ emotional Âť factor. They bring up emotions in customers, they bring out passions and from a business point of view, the dynamics of the markets they operate in are similar.

However, the players in these industries have a common irrational core that prevents them from reaching optimal marketing and financial performance Indeed, the virtuosity of an artist, an athlete, an advertising professional or a five star chef can hardly be assessed with traditional commercial efficiency methods.

Therefore, in order to overcome this paradox, Nova Consulting developed in 2006 an innovative quantitative approach to optimize the economical assessment and performance of companies operating in these irrational industries.

This “Observatory on the Culture, Sports and Tourism sectors in Europe” includes databases filled out with key figures of the sectors, new modelling tools and ad hoc measures, plenty of exclusive sectorial studies.

It is also built on a network of a hundred scholars and expert managers.

They regularly exchange views and take part in the sectorial studies as members of a devoted think-tank. They aim to develop an interdisciplinary expertise in these sectors neglected by the traditional research, and try to professionalize them.

In this context, Nova Observatory can deliver unique content and thematic analyses on

Julien has developed a unique quantitative and financial expertise in sectors where such approaches are not common (Sports Industry, Culture, Tourism and Health).

He graduated from ESSEC Business School and holds a post-graduate diploma of the Paris-Dauphine University.

He started working at L’Oréal as a Category Manager and then became Division Manager before joining the Boston Consulting Group as a Manager for six years. Julien is also the co-founder and General Secretary of the European Sports Marketing Chair at ESSEC Business School, and was Strategy and Development Director at Havas Sport & Entertainment prior to founding Nova Consulting in 2006.

He has been helping famous brands, institutions and local authorities by providing them strategic, financial and marketing insights for more than 10 years. Julien started his fellowship at ESSEC Business School in 2000 and then at Paris-Dauphine University where he is currently completing a Doctoral thesis on the impact of sponsorship on brands.

With more than 20 years of experience in Strategy Consulting at the Boston Consulting Group, Nicolas Harlé is a world-renowned expert in Financial Institutions and their digitalization.

After graduating from Ecole Centrale Paris, Nicolas Harlé began his career in the Banking sector at Indosuez and then joined the Boston Consulting Group in 1996. He completed his training in 1999 with the prestigious MBA of INSEAD. Then, he became one of the core members of the Financial Institutions and Technological Advantages of the Boston Consulting Group, and held the position of Senior Partner and Managing Director in the Paris Office.

In January 2018, he arrived at Nova Consulting as Managing Director. Among other things, his mission is to strengthen the group’s expertise in new technologies and to work actively on the development of Nova Consulting’s new Innovation Lab.

Marie-Sandrine graduated from Sciences Po Paris and ESSEC Business School. She began her career in the publishing industry, at Bayard Press and Editions Atlas, before starting to work as Brand Manager for MIPIM at Reed Midem. Marie-Sandrine later developed and managed the Retail / Merchandising & Sales Department of the Centre Georges Pompidou, as a Culture and Leisure marketing specialist.

After 14 years of professional experience, she joined Nova Consulting in 2016 as Head of the Culture Department, where she is now dedicated to the commercial offer of real estate and business projects in the cultural and Leisure sectors.

Laurent graduated from ESSEC Business School and started his career in marketing of consumer goods at Unilever and L’Oréal where he spent 10 years. Then, he joined the strategy consulting sector integrating McKinsey & Co for 2 years before starting his own company, le “Marché des Gastronomes”, which he will run during 3 years. He went back to strategy consulting, working for AT Kearney and Accenture holding senior manager positions.

Laurent Pinsolle arrived at Nova Consulting late 2017 as Head of the Brands Department to conduct marketing missions and develop the expertise and R&D of the cabinet.

PARIS

Garance has been working for 15 years in the communications and artistic sectors. After her communication and art history studies, she spent about 10 years as a consultant in the Culture and Communication fields.

She went from being a PR Project Manager at RhônesPoulenc to Director of the event communication department at Ecocom (Deloitte group), to Account Manager at Publicis Consultants. She then managed a festival of contemporary creation called «Le Printemps de Septembre» in Toulouse for more than five years, and is now General Partner at Nova Consulting.

Garance has developed an expertise by working on cultural patronage and culture marketing issues. Since 2008, she has held a key role in the creation of a network of public and private sector experts of the culture business industry.

Antoine has earned the reputation of a finance and business leader, as a result of delivering disruptive growth as CFO, and as General Manager. His expertise lies in deploying finance resources, people and money, towards sustainable profitable growth.

Emmanuel graduated from the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris and started working as an Artistic Director in an advertising agency. He then worked for Havas Sports & Entertainment as a Creative Director where he worked on several communications campaigns.

Antoine has steered a progressive career track in fast paced, highly competitive and complex environments across France, Spain and North America (In the US since 2004). He has held a variety of roles with experience in all parts of the finance functions. In 2011, he was promoted CFO, Danone North America. Later on, he moved to a General Management position, as Head of Danone US Food Service.

He joined Nova Consulting as a Creative Director and manages all creation projects including visual identity, edition, multimedia and event communications. and contributes to all recommendations regarding communication strategies.
