December always feels like such a special time — a season that sparkles with warmth, generosity, and gratitude. As the year winds down, I can’t help but re ect on the many wonderful stories, connections, and moments our community has shared. What a joy it’s been to celebrate the people and places that make Vienna such a remarkable town.

Our Family Feature this month shines on Najee Davis, owner of Chick- l-A on Maple Avenue, and his beautiful family. Najee’s inspiring journey reminds us that success often grows from perseverance and lessons learned through challenge. His story is one of faith, family, and dedication—a perfect re ection of the season’s spirit.

Our Nonpro t Spotlight highlights Social4Good (S4G), a remarkable organization launched in 2019 that educates, engages, and empowers women to make a meaningful impact in Northern Virginia. Each month, S4G members come together to learn about a pressing community need and take action—through small, collective contributions that create signi cant change for local nonpro t partners. Their mission perfectly embodies the idea that when we unite around compassion and purpose, good things truly multiply.

As always, I want to take a moment to recognize our ad sponsors who make this magazine possible each month. Their ongoing support allows us to tell the stories that connect us, inspire us, and strengthen our sense of community. I encourage you to support and thank our sponsors when you can — your support means the world to them and helps keep Vienna’s smalltown spirit thriving.

As we step into this festive season, may your days be lled with warmth, gratitude, and the company of loved ones. Here’s to celebrating the joy of community and the promise of a bright new year ahead.

Wishing you peace and happiness this holiday season, Peace,

NAJEEDAVIS

Family, Community, and the Journey to Leadership

For Najee Davis, life is a blend of meaningful relationships, professional determination, and a steady commitment to giving back. The Davis family—Najee, his wife Brittaney, and their lively daughter Kensington—embody these values daily, crafting a narrative defined by love, growth, and connection.

FAMILY ROOTS AND EARLY MEMORIES

Najee’s family is small by size but strong in spirit. Brittaney is both his partner and best friend, their marriage founded upon years of laughter and shared adventures. One of their most cherished memories is their first date: a spontaneous rendezvous at a taco spot in Atlanta, followed by an

impromptu dessert outing after finding Top Golf fully booked. That evening, shaped by unexpected turns and genuine conversation, still stands out as a moment that set the tone for the love they share today.

Their daughter, Kensington, is already the heart of their home. At just 15 months old, she radiates joy—dancing, singing, and mingling with anyone she meets. Walking came naturally to her just a month ago, and her outgoing personality is reminiscent of Najee’s own love for people. The family’s interactions are filled with laughter, play, and a ection, reflecting a home where curiosity and connection are valued above all.

EDUCATION, SPORTS, AND CAREER AMBITIONS

Najee’s journey began on the basketball court. Throughout his childhood and into his college years at Wallace State in Alabama, basketball was his passion. However, recognizing that he opted not to take the sport to a professional level, Najee made a pivotal decision: to focus his energy on a di erent kind of teamwork. Inspired by a local Chick-fil-A operator, Najee joined the Chick-fil-A crew in Cullman, Alabama. Step by step, from team member to leader, he devoted himself to the company, eventually earning a place in the Chick-fil-A leadership development program.

In 2023, Najee’s hard work came full circle when he was selected as operator for his own Chick-fil-A restaurant located in Vienna. This milestone marked not just a career achievement, but a testament to the resilience and adaptability that define Najee’s approach to life. As an operator, he strives to create a business culture rooted in care, service, and mutual respect.

OUTDOOR PURSUITS AND COMMUNITY CONNECTION

For Najee, the outdoors is more than an escape, it’s essential for renewal. Whether walking with his family, sharing outdoor moments with team members, or embarking on long bike rides along scenic trails, time outside helps him recharge and maintain focus. Najee finds that the simple

draws strength from its spiritual community at McLean Bible Church, where meaningful Sundays and shared worship help anchor their values. Brittaney is especially active, recently forming friendships with other moms and nurturing bonds that support her and Kensington’s growth. The family delights in community gatherings, park outings, and surprises that strengthen relationships—never missing a chance to uplift those around them.

TRADITIONS, TRAVELS, AND FAMILY STORIES

Unpredictable road trips and playfulness are threads woven throughout the Davis family story. Perhaps the most vivid example is their surprise visit to Brittaney’s relatives in Georgia during her pregnancy.

the magic of genuine connection and celebration.

Travel is another cherished tradition. The Davis family loves beach escapes, especially in October when the shore is quiet and gently chilly. Mornings are spent sipping co ee while walking along the sand, searching for dolphins, and appreciating the tranquil rhythm of the waves. Such trips are opportunities for reflection, togetherness, and simple pleasures—the core of lasting family bonds. A MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE

Najee’s appreciation for community is evident through his business. As the operator of his Chick-fil-A restaurant, he expresses deep gratitude for every customer who walks through the door.

welcoming everyone with warmth and a genuine interest in their well-being.

The Davis family’s story is not defined by geography, but by the enduring qualities of kindness, resilience, and inclusivity. They are devoted to creating spaces— at home, in their business, and among friends—where others feel seen and valued. Whether through memorable travels, engaging outdoor activities, or spontaneous gestures of love, Najee and his family embody the spirit of true community leadership.

Their journey continues, shaped by each day’s challenges and victories, always guided by an open heart and a neighborly embrace. Families like Najee’s remind us of the simple but profound joys that arise from connection, gratitude, and pursuing life with intention.

e Business Minute

e H idays…Business Editi

For many business owners, the holiday commercials and change in weather signal a time to slow down, plan for the new year, reflect on the challenges they’ve overcome and recharge their battery. But in the world of M&A, this season can quietly become one of the most strategic windows of the year.

While a handful of buyers and investors may appear to be winding down, the truth is, many of those dealmakers are gearing up. Serious acquirers spend the final quarter of the year planning for the deals they want to close during the first quarter of the year. That means while the rest of the world is taking their foot o the gas, they’re reviewing industries, evaluating potential targets, and lining up capital to start the year o on the right foot. If your business is even considering a sale in the next 6 to 12 months, now is the time to start preparing. A certified business valuation is a good place to start.

As a certified M&A advisor, I encourage my clients and network to use the holiday season to do what most entrepreneurs rarely have time for: Get your house in order! This means; clean up

your financials, make sure your books are accurate, review your customer contracts, set goals for the new year, evaluate vendor relationships and most importantly make your human capital feel appreciated and heard. These details matter when it’s time to present your business to buyers or transition your company to the next generation. Proper preparation will yield better results!

This last month of the year, take the opportunity to think strategically about value creation. A business with a strong motivated team, predictable revenue, and clear processes always commands a premium. Consider how you can enter the new year with tighter systems, better documentation, and renewed energy among your employees.

So, while competitors are checking out for the holidays, smart owners are quietly positioning themselves for a powerful start to the new year.

Women Use Collective

Philanthropy to Make an Impact Locally

n 2019 a small group of women in Vienna joined a growing national movement where like-minded individuals pool their resources (time, talent, or treasure) for greater impact. Collective philanthropy emphasizes collaboration, community, and shared decision-making. In six years Social4Good has grown into a powerful local organization, 250+ members strong. Equally impressive, it has partnered with 60 nonpro ts, providing over $325,000 in nancial and in-kind support as well as “hands-on” service hours to meet critical community needs.

Educate, Engage, and Empower Women to Make a Difference

Social4Good is an all-volunteer, grassroots organization that brings together talented women who want to support the organizations that make their community strong, while engaging with each other and learning about critical needs. “Social4Good offers a unique model in collective philanthropy,” says Sheila Murphy, Co-Chair of Social4Good. “Each month, the organization partners with a different local nonpro t. These

projects have three components: service ( nancial support, inkind contributions, and/or hands-on activities), social (members and nonpro ts engage with each other), and educational (members learn from the nonpro t about their mission, client needs, and services).”

Focusing on the diverse needs of the Northern Virginia community, Social4Good donates 100% of funds raised directly to the nonpro ts. The organization is founded on six Rules of Engagement: open to all; attend when you can; support what you’re passionate about; no politics or religion; local impact; and no complaining. This simple yet effective model produces results.

2026 ProjectsAddress Wide Range of Critical Community Needs

Social4Good recently identi ed its 2026 slate of nonpro ts serving Northern Virginia and corresponding projects. These projects will address a broad range of issues facing the most vulnerable in our community: homelessness, child abuse and neglect, food insecurity, period poverty, access to affordable healthcare, child literacy, diaper insecurity, and mental health.

Nonpro t partners in 2026 include: Boxes of Basics, Fairfax CASA, Food for Others, Cornerstones/Embry Rucker Shelter, BRAWS, Arlington Free Clinic, Book Bounce and Reading Is Fundamental, Fairfax Diapers, and The Women’s Center. In an environment of political and economic uncertainty, these organizations are facing funding challenges during a time when the need for their services is on the rise. Social4Good is helping to bridge funding gaps and ensure that their neighbors in need feel seen, heard, and supported.

Membership is Simple, Rewarding, and Fun

Becoming a member of Social4Good is simple. Members just need to participate in one or more monthly projects - at whatever level and frequency that works for them.

As an all-volunteer organization, there are many opportunities to become involved beyond participating in a monthly project.

“We are always looking for women to serve as project leaders, help research and identify the nonpro ts we will support, engage with members and prospective members, and promote our organization’s work in the community”, says Sarah de Kramer, Co-Chair of Social4Good. “As an organization, we are inclusive, collaborative, and social. Members give back to their community and learn about local issues in a social and engaging environment.”

The Exponential Impact of Social and Good

Social4Good's impact extends beyond the dollars and inkind contributions collected, as members build relationships with others who are united in their passion to improve their

community and create lasting change. Inspired members often continue to engage and support the nonpro ts served long after the monthly project is over. In addition, Social4Good aims to use a creative and collaborative approach whenever possible so that resources are maximized and shared among the nonpro ts.

CRANBERRY & BRIE

Bites

A SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL APPETIZER

So let me tell you how delicious these super simple Cranberry Brie

Bites taste! I know the ingredients may not look like much but once it is all combined, it tastes amazing! The perfect holiday appetizer! It is so festive, and everyone gobbles them up. If you want something just a bit elevated but will only take you minutes to make – this is THE one!

Ingredients Needed:

• all-purpose flour

• crescent dough sheet – You could use pu pastry for this – I have not tested it, and you may need to adjust the baking time.

• brie cheese – if you don’t like brie then you could go with another semi-soft cheese. whole berry cranberry sauce – do not get the jellied cranberry sauce. It is not the same. You want to look for the cans of whole cranberry sauce. They are usually next to each other on the shelf so be careful with which one you select.

• fresh rosemary sprigs – this is optional, but they really give that touch of festiveness and it makes it just a tiny bit elegant.

How To Make Cranberry Brie Bites:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F degrees. Spray a mini mu in tin with cooking spray. Spread a little flour out onto your counter. Then roll out crescent dough. If using crescent rolls rather than the crescent roll dough sheet, be sure to pinch the seams together to make one sheet. Cut crescent roll dough into 24 equal-sized squares.

2. Place squares into mu in tin slots. Cut brie into small pieces and place inside the crescent dough squares.

3. Top with a generous spoonful of cranberry sauce. Finally, top each one with a little sprig of rosemary. Bake until the crescent dough is a light golden brown (about 15 minutes).

4. Then serve warm!
