THE LONGEST TABLE EVENT
Made It To Vienna,Virginia!
BY CATHERINE HARDMAN PHOTOS COURTESY OF KAREN BOLT PHOTOGRAPHY
What started as a simple idea to bring the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City together in 2022 for a postpandemic potluck meal has transformed into a global movement to foster community connection in cities all over the world. In the last three years, the Longest Table has been replicated with resounding success in cities like Paris, San Francisco, Seattle, Kansas City and more. Good Morning America recently featured the Longest Table’s positive impact on community connections, and Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris even featured a Longest Table dinner in a season four episode.
On Saturday, May 3, Vienna hosted its own Longest Table in the heart of town. Four hundred attendees of all ages gathered for a potluck lunch on two long tables along Mill Street, with overflow picnickers participating on the beautiful Town Green lawn. Local podcaster Rick Bernstein served as the volunteer MC, while DJ Darin of Belt It Out Productions and the band Half Pint Harry entertained the festive crowd. Lawn games leveled up

the fun, and students from James Madison High School’s DECA Club served as the volunteers for the event. “We were so excited to bring this lovely community-building event to our town,” said The Longest Table Vienna committee lead Trisha Stotler. “Our hope was to have this simple meal, bring neighbors together, and introduce them to more friends in the community. We were so happy with the success of the event that day.”

Sponsored by Compass Real Estate, Modera Wealth Management, and United Bank, the Longest Table Vienna also included a local nonprofit partner, Rustic Love, who was the recipient of proceeds from the event. Rustic Love is a local 501(c)3 organization created by Vienna resident Michelle Connors and her children during the early days of the COVID pandemic, with a mission to actively engage and bring the community together to help the food-insecure. Rustic Love’s colorful wooden heart signs dot the community of Vienna and their recognizable logo is an open heart, a symbol of proactive caring and concern for others –an ideal philanthropic match with the core mission of the Longest Table Vienna.
Planning is already underway for the second annual Longest Table Vienna event next spring. Updates on next year’s event will be shared as they become available. Be sure to follow The Longest Table Vienna on Facebook and Instagram@thelongesttablevienna. To learn more about Rustic Love and their impact on our local community, visit rusticlove.org.

ROOF-ER
The Roof-ER Mission
CATHERINE HARDMAN
PROVIDED BY MAURICIO CORDEIRO
A LOCAL BUSINESS RAISING THE STANDARD FOR ROOFING CONTRACTORS
At Roof-ER, their mission is to hold a fiduciary responsibility to their customers, plain and simple. In an industry known for poor workmanship, lack of communication, and at times, outright deceit, Roof-ER seeks to restore the name of exterior remodeling contractors nationwide. By committing to their core values of integrity, quality, and simplicity, they promise to deliver an experience every homeowner wants when remodeling their home: a simple and straightforward quality installation for a fair and honest price.
1. Integrity
Great businesses are built on trust: trust in the people, the process, and the product. Roof-ER's commitment to integrity starts with our training methods and continues through our final quality inspection. Customers know what to expect from us and as a result, are confident in referring us to their friends and family. Roof-ER is proud to say 90% of our new customers are referrals.
2. Quality
Sustainability doesn't come through shortcuts. By focusing on quality from start-to-finish, Roof-ER is quickly becoming the premier roofing contractor in Northern Virginia and Maryland for those customers looking for a restoration project done right. Whether it is our detailed inspections or our quality assurance
protocol, we focus on every last detail to ensure our customers know they've received the best service available.
3. Simplicity
Complexity = chaos. After a storm, this equation has the potential to become even worse. Roof-ER understands what homeowners want most after noticing an issue with their home’s exterior: peace of mind. Leveraging technology and emphasizing simplicity allows Roof-ER to o er an unrivaled value proposition: an expert restoration project with minimal headaches.
Integrity: Honesty First. And Second. And Third.
Their Hippocratic Oath: to hold a fiduciary responsibility to each and every customer through a commitment to their core values of integrity, quality, and simplicity
What they do:
FULL ROOF REPLACEMENT SERVICE
When your home in Northern Virginia or Maryland needs a full roof replacement after a violent storm, it's time to call the Roof Docs at Roof-ER. Strong winds, heavy rain and hail can wreak havoc on your asphalt roof shingles, and even areas like the peaceful Mid-Atlantic aren't immune to the threat of storm damage.
© Best Version Media
Their experienced team of roofing contractors can repair or completely replace your roof in the event of storm damage, and all of their roofing sta are fully trained and certified. Plus, they also provide free contact-less estimates prior to your service.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RE-ROOFING AND A FULL ROOF REPLACEMENT?
If you need a full roof replacement in Fairfax County, it's important to understand the di erence between a roof replacement and reroofing.
Their process for a full roof replacement in Vienna and surrounding cities includes removing all of the roof's shingles and replacing them with new materials. Re-roofing involves placing new shingles over top existing shingles. In general, a roof replacement is a better construction practice than re-roofing.
REPLACEMENTS IN FAIRFAX COUNTY
When it comes to full roof replacements, we typically use asphalt roof shingles due to their extreme popularity in this region's residential construction.
HOW LONG DOES A FULL ROOF REPLACEMENT TAKE?
Depending on the size of the roof and the labor required, a full roof replacement in Vienna using asphalt shingles takes only a day or two.
WHEN WILL INSURANCE COVER ROOF REPLACEMENTS?
If you experience hail or wind damage, your insurance company should cover the roof repair cost.
WILL REPLACING YOUR ROOF INCREASE YOUR PROPERTY VALUE?
Yes! Getting new roofing is a valuable home improvement. Brandnew roofing will increase your home's property value. In fact, new roofing can yield 80% of its cost to the seller upon resale.
FREE ROOF INSPECTION
If your Northern VA home's roof has been damaged by wind or hail, you need the top full roof replacement company in Vienna with the experience and skill to provide fast, high-quality replacement services. To find out the roof replacement cost in Northern VA, call 703-239-3738 to schedule your free roof replacement estimate!
THEIR WORK/THEIR FOUR STEP PROCESS:
A standard approach to every job ensures a quality restoration:
1. Inspect
2. Diagnose
3. Prescribe
4. Operate
If your roof, siding, or gutters are found to have an ailment, the last step is to review project details with your Roof Doc and let RoofER's install team take care of the rest.
WHY DO I NEED TO REPAIR MY ROOF?
Whether a bad storm rolled through your area or water has been pooling on your roof for days, you should never ignore emerging

roof issues. Not only can ignored roof damage worsen into a costly problem for your home it can also pose a safety risk and decrease your property value.
COMMON ROOF PROBLEMS
Here are some of the most common roof problems that their roof repair company in Vienna can address:
ROOF LEAKS
• Cracked or otherwise damaged flashing
• Broken or torn shingles or tiles
• Damaged skylights
• Chimney cracks
• Improperly sealed roof penetrations
• Carpenter gaps in the roof decking
There are many causes for roof leaks, and the location of the leaks often indicates where your roof may be damaged.
POOLED WATER
Pooled water occurs after a rainstorm and can result in water damage to your roof if it's left untreated. However, tapering your roof's slope will prevent pools of water from forming. If you've had water pooling on your roof for multiple days or weeks, you need to have your roof inspected for water damage before any tapering can be completed.
SHRINKAGE

Shrinkage happens when your roofing materials begin to deteriorate, warp or crack as a result of aging. When shrinkage occurs, you need to have the issue addressed as soon as possible.
HAIL DAMAGE
Even, places like Northern VA experience hail. When hailstorms occur, they tend to cause varying degrees of damage to roofs. Hail damage can be di icult to assess but, if present, can lead to costly repairs. It is best to consult a professional roof inspector if you believe your home has been impacted by hail
STORM DAMAGE (WIND)
Strong storms are also common reasons for roof repair service in the Vienna area. When your roof is exposed to strong gusts of wind, your shingles blow o , leaving your roof vulnerable to more serious damage. Storms can also pummel your roof with debris, which can prove quite destructive to most roof types.
SIDING REPLACEMENT SERVICES
Whether due to storm activity or an accident, your home's siding may need to be replaced from time to time. Damaged siding needs to be addressed by a siding professional as soon as you notice it, as untreated damage to this part of your home's exterior can turn into a serious — and costly — problem down the road.
SHOULD I REPAIR OR REPLACE ALUMINUM SIDING?
Your siding protects you from wind, rain, snowfall and other

© Best Version Media
weather elements that can be hazardous to your home. When your siding endures stormy weather, it can crack, blow o , or become dented, which compromises its ability to function properly or severely a ects its aesthetics. Completely replacing damaged siding is the best way to ensure your home's protection.
Damaged aluminum siding often requires full replacement. With The Roof Docs, you have access to a certified team of professional siding installers who can perform siding replacements and a wide range of other necessary services. If your siding is damaged alongside your roof due to a windstorm or hailstorm, Roof-ER is your one-stop-shop for repairs.
Benefits of Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding has several advantages over aluminum. Vinyl siding possesses the following benefits:
• Durability - Vinyl siding is designed to withstand the stress of the elements. Aluminum siding is much more susceptible to damage from wind and hail.
• Style - Attractive vinyl siding can improve the resale value of your home. You can select the color and texture that best suits your home's style.
• Low Maintenance - Vinyl siding is incredibly easy to maintain. Dirt and grime can be easily removed with a hose or power washer.
GUTTER REPLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION SERVICES
If your home in Northern Virginia or Maryland experiences moisture issues after heavy rain or snow, you aren't alone. Working gutters divert water away from your residence, but damages can build up from the ravages of time and extreme weather.
That's why Fairfax County residents should call Roof-ER for gutter inspections. They o er professional gutter installation services in Vienna as part of their full-service roofing inspections, repairs and replacements. Their gutter services help maintain your home's condition, improve its appearance and save residents from more expensive issues.
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH DAMAGED GUTTERS
In most cases, clogged and aged gutters are a minor nuisance. But
if left unaddressed, you could have major home repairs to make from the moisture buildup, such as:
• Rotting roof, fascia or foundations
• Pooling water in the basement or garage
• Mold and mildew growth on the interior or exterior
• Swollen or damaged siding
• Standing water in the yard or gutters — prime breeding grounds for mosquitos
• Damage to the landscape from soil erosion
ROOF-ER’S GUTTER INSTALLATION PROCESS
The gutter replacement services always begin with a comprehensive inspection. We can identify the potential impacts of your faulty gutters on other parts of your Vienna home, such as the siding and roof. If you approve a gutter replacement, they'll help you select the products, colors and upgrades so we can begin work as soon as possible.
HOW LONG DOES THE GUTTER REPLACEMENT PROCESS TAKE?
The time to complete a gutter replacement varies with the complexity of your home in Vienna — longer, straighter runs are simpler to install than multiple bends. We'll provide a time estimate with the cost. We aim to finish gutter replacement projects promptly and will work within your schedule to keep your home protected.
