When you meet Dr. Anna Le, founder of Annandale OB-GYN and a beloved physician to thousands of women across Northern Virginia, you immediately sense two things: her unshakeable purpose and her deep devotion to family. For Anna and her husband, Due, life is guided by faith, courage, and the belief that every life, whether in her clinic, on the mission field, or in her own home, matters deeply.

In this December issue of McLean Living, we are honored to feature the Tran family, whose story blends service, sacrifice, and joy in a way that reflects the very spirit of our community.

A FAMILY BUILT ON LOVE, LOYALTY, AND PURPOSE

At the heart of Anna’s world are her children, each one unique, cherished, and raised with the same foundational values: God, family, and country.

Vinh, the eldest, shares his mother’s focus and discipline. After earning his BBA in Analytics and a minor in Computer Science at George Washington University, he now works as a software engineer on Amazon’s international team. Thoughtful, driven, and grounded, Vinh carries his family’s values into his own path.

Paris, currently a dedicated student at Phillips Exeter Academy, dreams of following in her mother’s footsteps and becoming a doctor. Her days are filled with the joys and challenges of teenage life, friendships, academics, big aspirations, and the constant balancing act of it all.

And then there’s Raiden, the family’s joyful spark and selfdescribed “blessing from COVID.” A natural swimmer since nine months old, he loves dinosaurs, trucks, and his ever-faithful stu ed companion, Woof Woof

Their children span decades in age, giving each one the experience of being “an only child” in their own way—and receiving their own special brand of parental spoiling. As Anna jokes, “With Raiden, my husband just gave up trying and admits he’s his best friend.”

Behind it all is Due, Anna’s husband and partner in every sense. A Marine o icer who served with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade and 1st ANGLICO, Due completed multiple deployments to Iraq and later continued his global service as a refugee and asylum o icer for the Department of Homeland Security. Today, he serves as the Chief Operating O icer of Anna Health.

Anna speaks of him with a mix of admiration, gratitude, and humor: “I love him because he makes me the best version of myself—but mostly because he tells me how amazing I am as his boss!”

Their partnership is built on deep commitment, playful honesty, and shared purpose. As Anna puts it, “Nepotism at its finest.” She may have hired him, but everyone agrees: he’s earning every stripe.

Most importantly, Due is unwavering in his love for their children. Anna recalls the year he flew halfway around the world just to watch Paris perform at Arena Stage—only to return immediately to duty after her two-hour show.

“We don’t balance or compromise family,” she says. “Our work family simply becomes an extension of our real one.”

McLean youth sports have also become an important part of their family life. From McLean Little League to McLean Youth Soccer, the fields across town hold memories of first home runs,

pop flies caught in the outfield, and the rush of scoring a first goal. With Raiden turning four, the excitement begins again as he starts T-ball this spring.

Whether traveling to Ukraine, a place they hold dear, or returning to Da Nang in Vietnam, the hometown they left as children, the Tran family carries their values with them everywhere: honor, service, compassion, and gratitude.

WHY THEY CHOSE MCLEAN

© Best Version Media

The Tran family fell in love with McLean for the same reasons so many of our neighbors do: its strong sense of community, walkable neighborhoods, beautiful parks, and rich history. Holidays here feel magical, whether trick-or-treating through friendly streets, admiring festive Christmas lights, or watching decorated fire trucks parade through town on the Fourth of July.

For Raiden, Clemyjontri Park is pure paradise, a place where his imagination takes flight among firetrucks, trains, and airplanes. For the rest of the family, it’s a reminder of what makes McLean special: a community where imagination, safety, and connection flourish.

INSIDE DR. LE’S MISSION

Over two decades, Anna has witnessed the full spectrum of the human experience, heartbreak, hope, fear, and resilience.

“Each life matters,” she reflects. “I see women rise above their circumstances, rebuild, and become stronger than ever. I’m honored to be a part of that.”

Anna founded Annandale OB-GYN in 2005 with this simple but profound philosophy. Now spanning 11 practices, a research department, and international medical missions, the practice remains fully physician-owned, a rarity in modern healthcare.

“I have never accepted private equity,” she shares. “We are large enough to serve every patient’s needs, but never so large that our patients lose their connection to us.”

Every year, she leads a surgical mission to El Salvador, performing complex gynecological surgeries for women who would not otherwise have access to care.

“These missions bless me more than I bless them,” she says. “They remind me that God gave me these talents to serve.”

As women’s healthcare has evolved, especially since the A ordable Care Act, Anna has continued to adapt and expand her approach. Today, Annandale OB-GYN emphasizes holistic, integrated care, with services that now extend into family medicine and fertility to support the entire family. Anna still gives her personal cell number to her patients, a simple gesture that reflects her unwavering commitment.

Her passion for minimally invasive surgery and fertility medicine comes from a place of profound empathy:

“Women are resilient,” she says. “If we can restore their health, help them carry a baby, or guide them through fertility challenges, they don’t just survive, they thrive. And when women thrive, the entire community grows stronger.”

Anna builds her team with the same mix of loyalty, legacy, and heart that she brings to her family life. Summers at Annandale OB-GYN feel like summer camp, complete with interns who are often the children of sta members, many of whom eventually join the practice permanently.

“My team is my extended family,” she says. “If they have the skills, there’s always a place for them to grow here.”

And her message to women is simple but powerful: “Stop and care about your health. Life pulls us in every direction, but your body is what allows you to meet those demands. Protect it.”

LOOKING AHEAD

When asked what comes next, Anna’s answer is both clear and heartfelt:

“I want to impact and save as many lives as possible. I know my next steps—I will expand my reach as far as I can to help every life that crosses my path.”

In McLean, the Tran family has found a home that mirrors everything they stand for: community, resilience, and love. And our community is all the richer for having them here.

“Each life matters,” she reflects. “I see women rise above their circumstances, rebuild, and become stronger than ever. I’m honored to be a part of that.”

Sweet Smiles All Season

The holidays are such a special time filled with family gatherings, festive activities, and, of course, plenty of sweet treats! From gingerbread cookies and candy canes to rich hot chocolate and holiday baking, this season is full of flavors kids love. And that’s okay! Treats can absolutely be part of the fun, as long as we remember to care for our teeth along the way.

As a pediatric dentist and a mom, I always remind parents that enjoying the holidays doesn’t mean putting dental health on hold. With just a few simple habits, we can help our children keep their smiles healthy and bright through every celebration

ENJOY TREATS IN MODERATION

Sweets are best enjoyed with meals rather than as all-day snacks. Eating at mealtime increases saliva production, which helps wash away sugar and acids that can harm teeth. Encourage your child to drink water after enjoying cookies or candy, it’s one of the easiest ways to rinse the mouth and protect enamel.

KEEP BRUSHING AND FLOSSING FUN

Holiday schedules can get busy, but maintaining daily brushing and flossing is more important than ever. Try adding a festive touch; let your child pick a toothbrush in their favorite holiday color or play cheerful music for the two minutes of brushing. Keeping routines fun helps kids stay consistent.

SCHEDULE A DENTAL CHECK-UP

Before the year wraps up, consider booking your child’s regular check-up. Preventive visits allow us to catch small issues early and give your child a confident, healthy smile for the new year.

LEAD BY EXAMPLE

Children learn best by watching us. When they see parents brushing, flossing, and choosing water over sugary drinks, they’re more likely to make those choices themselves. Making oral care a shared family routine can turn it into a fun bonding moment.

The holidays are about joy, laughter, and creating memories. With a mindful approach and a good brushing routine, your family can enjoy all the sweetness of the season, without the cavities that sometimes come with it.

Here’s to a happy, healthy, and smiling holiday season!

enhancement is carefully chosen to bring out the best in your smile, creating results that look seamless, natural, and uniquely yours.

RELIEVING PAIN AND RESTORING BALANCE

While many people think of smile makeovers as purely cosmetic, they can play a significant role in improving comfort and function. When combined with bite correction, a smile makeover goes beyond aesthetics and can help alleviate discomfort caused by misaligned teeth, uneven pressure, or a dysfunctional bite. Restoring balance to your bite and jaw alignment can relieve tension, prevent further wear on your teeth, and even reduce the frequency of headaches and migraines. In this way, a smile makeover enhances both the health and beauty of your smile.

EASY, EFFECTIVE, AND LONG-LASTING

Thanks to modern dental technology, achieving a beautiful smile is easier and faster than ever before. Many smile makeovers can be completed in as little as two visits, depending on the treatments needed. Advanced techniques allow your dentist to refine the shape and color of your teeth with precision, giving you a radiant, confident smile that can last for years with proper care. The process is designed to be comfortable, e icient, and highly predictable, making it an excellent option for patients seeking meaningful, longlasting results.

Your dentist will work closely with you to determine the right combination of treatments to help you achieve your ideal smile.

At the 19th annual Lombardi Women event, more than 460 guests gathered to honor the doctors, nurses, researchers, patients, survivors, and supporters leading the fight against breast cancer — and to champion Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in Washington, D.C. This year’s program was co-chaired by longtime volunteer leaders Meredith LaPier and Jennifer Bognet.

“Tonight is not just about raising funds,” shared co-chair Jennifer Bognet. “It’s about raising hope.”

The evening’s panel discussion was moderated by WUSA9 news anchor Lesli Foster and featured Claudine Isaacs, MD, professor of medicine and oncology at Georgetown University School of Medicine, along with Blair Todd, this year’s recipient of the Spirit of Life Award — an honor recognizing individuals who have faced breast cancer with courage while elevating awareness in their communities.

How to Keep Winter Where It Belongs OUTSIDE

When winter arrives, many homes su er from drafts, uneven temperatures, and rising heating bills. It’s not just the cold outside—it’s what’s happening inside your home. Heat escapes through gaps in walls, windows, floors, and ceilings, while cold air sneaks in just as easily.

WHY YOUR HOME FEELS COLD (EVEN WITH THE HEAT ON)

Cold air often enters through weak spots in the building envelope—the barrier between inside and outside. Common causes include:

• Gaps around windows, doors, and attic hatches

• Poorly insulated attics, walls, and crawl spaces

• Vented crawl spaces or unfinished basements

• Leaky ductwork or HVAC vents

• Worn weather stripping

Even small leaks add up, letting warm air escape and cold air creep in.

WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE LEAKS ARE?

If you want a detailed picture of where your home is losing heat, a home performance audit is a great tool. Through air leakage testing and inspections, it identifies hidden gaps behind walls, above ceilings, and under floors—so you know exactly what needs fixing.

HOW TO KEEP THE COLD AIR OUT

1.

Air Sealing

One of the most e ective ways to cut heat loss is sealing air leaks. Focus on the building envelope—windows, doors, attic hatches, plumbing penetrations, and recessed lights— to eliminate drafts and retain warmth.

2.

Insulation Upgrades

Insulation acts as a thermal barrier to keep heat inside your home by slowing heat transfer, thus helping maintain indoor temperatures. Upgrading under-insulated attics, walls, and basements makes your home warmer and more energy e icient—especially in winter.

3. Crawl Space & Basement Treatment

Vented crawl spaces and unfinished basements are major sources of cold air intrusion. Sealing and insulating these areas, and installing vapor barriers where necessary, can dramatically reduce heat loss from below your living space.

4.

Duct Sealing & Insulation

Leaky or uninsulated ducts can lose a surprising amount of heated air before it ever reaches your rooms. Sealing and insulating ductwork ensures your HVAC system works e iciently and your home stays consistently warm.

© Best Version Media

5. Ensure Heating Systems Are Ready

A well-maintained heating system is the backbone of a comfortable home in cold weather. Before the cold sets in, schedule a professional inspection and tune-up of your furnace, boiler, or heat pump. Changing filters, cleaning ducts, and addressing any mechanical issues ensures the system runs safely and e iciently, preventing breakdowns during the coldest days.

THE PAYOFF: A WARMER, HEALTHIER, MORE EFFICIENT HOME

When you keep cold air out, you not only stay more comfortable—you also:

• Lower your energy bills

• Reduce strain on your heating system

• Improve indoor air quality

• Minimize moisture and mold risks

• Enjoy more consistent temperatures throughout your home

STAY WARM WITHOUT WASTING ENERGY

You don’t need to crank up the heat to stay comfortable this winter. With a home performance audit and targeted upgrades like air sealing, insulation, and duct repair, you can keep the cold outside—where it belongs.

Comfort, e iciency, and peace of mind start with a wellsealed home.

The Holidays... Business Edition

For many business owners, the holiday commercials and change in weather signal a time to slow down, plan for the new year, reflect on the challenges they’ve overcome, and recharge the battery. But in the world of M&A, this season can quietly become one of the most strategic windows of the year.

While a handful of buyers and investors may appear to be winding down, the truth is, many of those dealmakers are gearing up. Serious acquirers spend the final quarter of the year planning for the deals they want to close during the first quarter of the year. That means while the rest of the world is taking their foot o the gas, they’re reviewing industries, evaluating potential targets, and lining up capital to start the year o on the right foot. If your business is even considering a sale in the next 6 to 12 months, now is the time to start preparing. A certified business valuation is a good place to start.

As a certified M&A advisor, I encourage my clients and network to use the holiday season to do what most entrepreneurs rarely have time for: get your house in order! This means clean up your financials, make sure your books are accurate, review your customer contracts, set goals for the new year, evaluate vendor

relationships, and most importantly, make your human capital feel appreciated and heard. These details matter when it’s time to present your business to buyers or transition your company to the next generation. Proper preparation will yield better results!

This last month of the year, take the opportunity to think strategically about value creation. A business with a strong, motivated team, predictable revenue, and clear processes always commands a premium. Consider how you can enter the new year with tighter systems, better documentation, and renewed energy among your employees.

So, while competitors are checking out for the holidays, smart owners are quietly positioning themselves for a powerful start to the new year.

Mindful Holidays

MANAGING STRESS, SLEEP, AND HORMONAL BALANCE

The holiday season brings loved ones together, and with it, a fair amount of stress. Between travel, gatherings, and year-end deadlines, many people find their routines upended. In the midst of it all, it’s easy to neglect the maintenance our emotional health, sleep, and hormones require.

When stress runs high, our bodies release more cortisol. In small doses, cortisol is our friend, and helps us respond to challenges. But constant elevation can disrupt menstrual cycles, worsen PMS symptoms, and make sleep less restful. Over time, that imbalance can leave you feeling fatigued, irritable, and o -center.

Small but mindful changes can make all the di erence. Prioritize consistent sleep - even on busy weekends - and take short breaks for movement or breathing exercises. Be firm in your boundaries, enabling yourself to be your best self. Eat balanced meals, stay hydrated, and remember that ca eine and alcohol can amplify stress and disturb sleep.

The end of the year is also an ideal time to schedule your annual wellness visit, update your flu shot, and discuss any cycle or mood changes with your provider. Managing your mental and hormonal health now helps you enter 2026 grounded, rested, and balanced - ready to enjoy what truly matters most.
