ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES Dear McLean Residents, My name is Gloria, and I am your Publisher. This is my THIRD issue of McLean Living Magazine. The world is infinite. Possibilities are endless. Imagine it, dream it, and it can happen. That’s the theme for our April Issue. When Dreaming, DREAM BIG! Bigger than you could ever imagine. Set goals and take action. I have a list of short-term goals that I want to accomplish, from learning how to play the piano to winning a tennis tournament. I also have a list that says: Be a good friend, call your mother, be a better listener, write thank you notes, don’t buy those shoes and save (I end up buying them). Since I made a habit of keeping a list of goals to accomplish, the hype of new year resolutions and stuff like that seems a bit silly to me. Goals should be something we practice day in and out throughout the year. This brings me to my introduction of Naj. She is an amazing woman who has big dreams and is still setting goals. I have come to know Naj in the past month and she is truly an inspiration at such a young age. I Invite you to read her story and what Fulton Bank will come to offer us right here in McLean. clean has long been known for its prestigious neighborhoods filled with multi-million-dollar custom homes. However, what intrigues me the most are the near-million dollar collections of ultra-rare sports cars residing within the garages of many Mclean homes. With spring now upon us, these sports car owners are eager to brush off the dust and enjoy their Ferraris the way the Maranello Italy factory intended. To be driven. There is nothing more satisfying for a car enthusiast like me than seeing a very rare and expensive vehicle on the road instead of cooped up and hidden away. I’ve had a long-life passion for cars that has honestly grown into a full-blown obsession at this point. My father gave me the initials BMW, so it is safe to say I was destined to love cars. When I moved to Tysons Corner in March 2021, I knew I would see plenty of cool cars in town, but I did not truly expect what I found. My apartment balcony overlooks the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Tyco Road. I chose the apartment for its large balcony and sunset view. It only took a couple of weeks for me to realize the sunset was not the only view I was going to see. On a sunny weekend day, a quarter-million-dollar car drives by almost every five minutes. I have seen every Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche you can think of casually cruising through traffic. Last month I even got a picture of a Pagani Huayra driving past my apartment building. Living in an area where I see cars daily that many of my friends in neighboring counties might see once a year, inspired me to become a photographer and share photos of the beautiful cars around. I started an Instagram account in July 2021 called @TysonsExotics and the account has received more positive feedback than I could have ever imagined. The account now has over 32,000 followers of pure car enthusiasts like myself. I very much enjoy taking and sharing photos virtually of cars through social media, but there is no replacement for the very special camaraderie between like-minded car enthusiasts created face-to-face at the car shows and events hosted in the area. Cars and Coffee is the perfect place for creating such relationships. The very popular Katie’s Coffee House in Great Falls is a must for anyone with an admiration for automobiles. The event is held every Saturday morning from 6 AM – 9 AM in the Village Centre shopping complex. You can expect to see any make and model of car, from a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle to a 2022 Lamborghini Aventador. It does not require any registration to showcase your special car, simply drive in, park, and enjoy. Saturday mornings at Katie’s Cars and Coffee is truly a perfect way to start a spring weekend. How to Prepare Your HVAC System for Spring by Brian Anderson
A
s the days start getting warmer and warmer, you appreciate that cool breeze that instantly welcomes you when you walk through your door. By late spring, temperatures continue to rise and your home starts feeling stuffy. You turn on the fans and they don’t seem to be helping. Uh oh - your Air Conditioning (A/C) is on the fritz. Our A/C units do a lot for us during the hottest months of the year and sadly, don’t receive enough TLC to make it through the summer. To guide you through the process, here is the ultimate homeowner’s guide for preparing A/C units for its busy season. Work From the Outside In First, start off with the basics. The next time you’re outside, take a minute to inspect the condenser outside of your home. This unit is responsible for collecting fresh air and cooling it down to a specific temperature. Therefore, it is essential that any debris such as leaves, branches, or even long grass be cleared from its surrounding area. We recommend maintaining a two-foot debris-free zone around your condenser unit to ensure it can take in as much air as possible. And because this component of your unit is vital to your comfort, be sure to have it checked out during your routine HVAC inspection. Freshening Up Indoors Did you know air filters should be changed every month? Because air conditioners are used much during the 6 | APRIL 2022
spring and summer, filters collect so much more dust, allergens, and other particles that not only affect the efficiency of HVAC units but the air quality too. By replacing air filters regularly, homeowners can enjoy fresher air indoors and a lower energy bill. Another aspect of an HVAC unit homeowners should keep in mind are the air vent covers or registers. Registers should be routinely checked out for visible grime and cleaned when necessary. Like dirty filters, dusty registers disrupt airflow and cause A/C systems to run at subpar levels. While inspecting registers, look for any leaks and/or blockages. HVAC units run the best when free of any kind of debris. In fact, blockages in the system can drop its efficiency by 15%. By following these simple steps, you can keep your system running smoothly and save money. Get Your Ducts In A Row Did you know that air particles travel through your home’s HVAC system about 5-7 times a day? While your HVAC system works hard to freshen up that air, particles such as dust, mold, and other debris often get lost in the mix. An air duct cleaning is a service offered by certified professionals who give your system a thorough cleaning. It provides a host of benefits for homes and homeowners. If you’re not sure if a duct cleaning is right for you, here are 5 classic signs your HVAC system is due for a cleaning. 1. You can’t remember the last time your air filters were changed
Dirty air filters are a reliable indicator of internal grime buildup. 2. Visible dust or mold growth on receptors or your HVAC unit Visible signs of dust and/or mold growth on external components of your HVAC unit or being found by a technician inside of your system are clear indicators that your ducts should be cleaned. Some forms of mold, such as black mold, can be dangerous to your health making it essential to give your air ducts a clean as soon as possible. 3. Your home has been recently built or renovated We all know how dirty and dusty construction sites can get and it’s very easy for those nasty particles to find their way into your home’s HVAC system. Start fresh in your new space by scheduling an air duct cleaning to maintain optimum cleanliness.
The first thing we all want to do when it gets hot out is to crank the A/C all the way up to stay cool. Sadly, doing this is often the biggest cause of rising energy bills, so I suggest the following: find the hottest possible temperature you can stand and try setting your thermostat to it. As much as all of us want it to be in the 60s inside our homes, that is not always the most cost-effective way to stay comfortable. This doesn’t mean that you should make the jump straight from 68 to 75 degrees. Instead, move the temperature up gradually, by about a degree every few hours. This gives yourself, your family, and even your pets time to acclimate to the new temperature setting, and makes it feel much less drastic. Find Creative Ways to Stay Cool Another great option to keep your home comfortable, no matter the weather outside, is to use appliances and resources other than you’re a/C unit to control the indoor temperature. This can include things like: • Turn on ceiling fans: Ceiling fans a great way to cool down a room • Use the sun to your advantage: On a hot, sunny day, it is best to close your blinds or curtains to avoid extra heat entering your home through windows. • Windows are a handy tool: Here in the Mid-Atlantic, the temperature can drop up to 20 degrees at night! This means that you can still sleep comfortably even without running your A/C; just open a window and let nature do its thing!
Be Smart About Your Thermostat Smart thermostats are the most intelligent way to create an efficient heating and cooling schedule and keep your energy bills low. With the right smart thermostat, homeowners can schedule when they want their air conditioning to run. Some systems can even be controlled from a smartphone via WiFi. They can be programmed to not run the air conditioning when a house is empty, helping HVAC units avoid overuse and keeping energy costs down. Some thermostats even have the capability to learn your heating and cooling needs and preferences, and over time, will automatically adjust accordingly to your schedule. Keep your System in Tip-Top-Shape Like any piece of equipment, routine maintenance is essential. “Pardon me, I was just catching up on Succession!” Naj Oudada answers her phone with a laugh. I’ve caught her multi-tasking. Naj is cooking a traditional Moroccan couscous, the one-pot meal a whole family can feast on all weekend. She learned the recipe from her mother, who visits often from Morocco. Cooking is one of Naj’s hobbies. She and her 16-year-old daughter, Lina, trade off cooking and cleanup duties. Lina likes to prepare lettuce wrap tacos and avocado toast, and the two of them enjoy warmer weather by grilling outside on the barbecue. Because their schedules keep them on the go, and neither is known for staying still, Naj admits they’ve also been known to frequent Sweet Greens and South Block. “We try to keep it healthy!” Naj says with a laugh. Naj and Lina spend a lot of time together, hiking in Great Falls Park, trying new activities, and walking around their neighborhood near Tysons. “It’s very walkable and everything is convenient. There’s a WeWork and Founding Farmers, and we walk to Whole Foods when it’s nice. There are always people sitting outside and at Christmas time the lights are beautiful,” Naj shares. When the weather isn’t cooperating, Naj frequents Equinox gym, and F45 when she wants a more intense workout. She passed on her love of motion to her daughter. Lina started ballet at age 3 and now dances with her high school’s dance team, and she swims at the gym while her mom works out. More recently, the two are learning to golf together. Naj’s team at Fulton Bank turned her onto the sport. “They’re a bunch of golf nuts!” Naj says with a grin.

Naj Oudada is Vice President of Commercial Banking at Fulton Bank. The bank is planning to open a new location in McLean in the coming months, to better serve McLean’s ever-expanding business landscape. Naj manages the portfolios of companies with revenues of 10 million and greater, assisting them in growing their reputations, business lending, treasury, and building relationships and trust with clients. It’s the perfect position for Naj, who is fluent in French and Arabic and knew what she wanted to do from an early age. At 5-years-old, Naj told her father, an engineer, she wanted to work in finance. She has always enjoyed meeting people and business development, and found corporate life an excellent environment for her skills. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree
in finance and her MBA, Naj realized just how perfectly suited a career in banking was for her. She has the flexibility to spend time with her family and learns something new every day, about money management, treasury, and how businesses grow in Washington, DC’s unique climate. We have a lot of projects to do in the McLean community, and we’re exploring sponsoring community charity events, businesses, and non-profits,” Naj enthuses. “If I have a dream, I chase it. I want to help people personally, and I have to give in order for me to get,” Naj says. She carries this ethos of growing through challenge into all aspects of her life. While working in Georgetown in 2013, Naj asked a client making a deposit how she stayed in such great shape. The client turned out to be a hot yoga instructor, and invited Naj to a free class at the hot studio where she taught. Naj went the very next day. “It changed my life. The stress you go through, it’s amazing,” Naj says. She still practices at the same Georgetown studio, now accompanied by her daughter. McLEAN LIVING | 9

After yoga, Naj often takes a stroll through Georgetown’s busy streets. Naj cites DC’s diversity and international flair as one of the reasons she initially moved to the area, and loves trying out new restaurants with friends. Two of her favorite spots are La Chaumier for French food and Cafe Milano for Italian food. The self-proclaimed coffee addict can frequently be found at Bluestone Lane for a cuppa and breakfast, and enjoys introducing clients to the happy hour at North Italia or seafood at Eddie V’s. In the evening, she likes to wind down by catching up on Succession or Suits.
Meet KAMI! I AM UP FOR ADOPTION by Sarah Meashaw, owner of Pooch Studio Kami was picked up as a stray in South Carolina, underweight and covered in old scars. Unsurprisingly, she also tested positive for heart worms, an easily preventable but deadly disease, if left untreated. She received treatment for heartworms in the shelter and is now looking for a forever home to call her own!
Before Covid, Naj loved to travel, and has always had an insatiable curiosity for new experiences. One of her favorite travel memories is visiting Strawberry Hill Hotel in Jamaica. “It was a one-hour trip up and into the mountains, and it was the scariest drive of my life! The roads are so small and tiny, I said to myself, I think I’m going to die, but it was a beautiful experience. The people, the weather, the coffee: Those are the best memories of my life,” Naj reminisces. The pandemic has kept her closer to home, where Naj has cultivated an interest in houseplants. Her favorite in her collection is the money tree her mother gifted her. “She said it would bring me luck, and I said, ‘Okay!’” Naj is looking forward to Fulton Bank’s move to McLean and all the things she and her team can contribute to the community. “Professionally, there’s no limit to my success. I have to continue to chase my dream until I achieve where I want to be,” Naj says. And McLean is right where she wants to be, building up its businesses and its people. “I always want to live with purpose, and I want to lead by example for my daughter,” Naj declares.

Kami is around two-years-old and weighs 33 pounds. She looks like a Rottweiler in a Basset Hound's body! Kami is very shy with people but totally blossoms around other dogs. She has lived in a foster home with seven other dogs and has seamlessly integrated into the pack. Brokering a Better Buying Experience by Miriam Keliddar
I
n 2020, with 18 years of experience in real estate, Tessa Wilborne decided to start her own brokerage. “Real estate has been good to me but I am at a point in my career where I want to empower people, both buyers and agents making a career of it. I want to help them grow. A broker should teach you how to go out and achieve a self-sustaining business and stand on your own,” Tessa says. She told her colleague of seven years, Gary Clark, and he responded, “I’m in.” T&G Real Estate opened its doors in the The Boro Tysons in January 2021. “We were so focused on getting it started, there wasn’t any time for joking. I'm still not joking,” Gary deadpans. He and Tessa met when she was living and working in Fredericksburg. Tessa’s husband had started a youth football association, which prompted Tessa to found a cheer program so her young daughter had an activity, too. “I played basketball and volleyball. But I knew how to surround myself with people who knew cheer!” Tessa says with a laugh. Gary cold-called her and said his business gave back to the community

through youth sports, and he was coming to Fredericksburg to speak with some youth football coaches. Initial attempts at breaking the ice failed. “He showed me pictures of himself playing for the Redskins. And I said, ‘I’ll be interested when you have photos of yourself playing with the Seattle Seahawks,’” Tessa remembers. His ideas on community involvement, however, resounded immediately. “We started running camps for the sheriff’s department down there, and now for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department, and all over Virginia, Maryland, and DC," Tessa says. It was the beginning of a great work relationship. They both have large families (Tessa has four children; Gary has five) and wanted to set them up for their futures. It was also the start of a great comedy team. “Tessa’s pretty dull, so we don’t have any funny stories,” Gary quips, but it’s quickly apparent the two share a mutual respect, cloaked in jocular tones. “Tessa is hands down one of the best
in the country. People try to recruit her from her own brokerage! I can’t be mad at them for trying, though,” Gary tells me. “She’s the type of person who can go up to a total stranger and ask a random question like ‘Hey, can I have a french fry?’ Not once has anyone gotten upset; they’ll ask if she wants ketchup. Most people wouldn’t think of engaging like that, but she has no problem with it whatsoever. If she asks someone getting on the elevator where they’re going, they’ll tell her. If I asked, they’d have me arrested or something.” “You’d be the person who wouldn’t share their french fries,” Tessa interjects. “Me, on the other hand, I’m pretty boring. One of us has to be,” Gary agrees. “Our brokerage is a success due to Tessa being the person she is. I’m just a silent investor.” “I think you should repeat silent one more time, because you’re definitely not silent,” Tessa muses. “I’m silent until you screw something up. Then I’ll say something,” Gary says with a laugh.

“People think T&G stands for Tessa and Gary, but I say it stands for Trust and Guidance. We’re here to guide you in the real estate market, achieve your vision, and get you where you want to be.” Gary says. That can include finding a home, a retirement plan, or a source of passive income. “We teach people how to use real estate.” The greatest challenge for the boutique brokerage has been competing against much larger companies for business. “It’s like going up against Whole Foods or Coke. It can be difficult when people don’t know who you are at first,” Tessa explains, “But I look at the challenge as a learning experience, and a good thing. This is what we do: We adapt and figure it out. It does help that people know Gary, it can get us in the door. But you have to know what you’re doing to stay in the door.” Just like the cheer program, Tessa has surrounded herself with strong partners. “We live here, we work here, we really want to be more than your real estate partner. It’s not just a business relationship. Don’t call me just for
real estate!” Tessa says. She’s built a strong network in the mortgage, title, wealth management, and credit repair industries, and takes pride in her ability to give knowledgable recommendations. “People will call you, looking for everything from movers to contractors, so you want to make sure you can recommend people who know what they’re doing,” Tessa says. T&G’s current goal is to continue growing their name and to have a footprint in markets all over. “Gary would say he wants to dominate everything in the next 5 years. He’s the super aggressive one,” Tessa says. “I’d say you can take over the world, but you don’t let everyone know you’re taking over the world.” Gary believes T&G’s relationship-based approach to business redefines the industry. “No one competes with the experiences we give our clients, past clients, and future clients. Our events are 5 star, every time. Right now I’m working on our Grammy viewing party, at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club,” Gary says. Their next big project is opening their Miami
office, where Tessa’s oldest son is an attorney and will join T&G as a partner. Tessa was a young mother when a friend recommended she look into real estate as a career so she could control her own schedule. Tessa grew up a “true army brat,” and has lived in 27 states. “I understand all the stress of buying real estate and moving. Moving so many times, I get it! We try to take the stress off you so you can relax a little bit. The market is crazy, moving 100 miles per hour,” Tessa says. She considers Seattle her hometown, as she lived there the longest, and her family still lives out west. In 2004, Tessa was living in Texas when her parents bought a home in Chesapeake, Virginia to be near her sister, who was playing basketball for ODU. They invited Tessa to come join them, and she’s called Virginia home ever since. She’s lived in the Tysons area for the past two years. In her free time, Tessa enjoys spending time with friends and with her children, who have all been heavily involved in sports and school activities. “It’s hard to have hobbies when your kids are in McLEAN LIVING | 15

sports, but my youngest is graduating high school soon. So if you have any ideas for entertaining hobbies, I’m open for suggestions!” Tessa says with a grin. For now, she enjoys the occasional pilates class, and food. “I cooked for 19 years, so I don’t do that anymore, but I like to eat!” Tessa doesn’t have a favorite spot, because she enjoys everything from Wendy’s to steak houses, but she does attend many a business meeting at Eddie V’s in Tysons. Gary is from Dublin, Virginia, and is best known for his illustrious NFL career. As he puts it, “Every football player needs a retirement plan.” He first met Gus
Pappas, the man who would become his mentor, at a sports bar in Tysons Corner while Gary was playing with the Redskins. “We did a TV show at that bar and he owned a ticket company at the time, and had a mortgage company and was involved in commercial real estate. He’s a brilliant man. He came out to a show and we hit it off and have been friends ever since, over 30 years. Any of my business success is due to him, for the most part, and a drive to just not fail,” Gary shares. “He gave me a job in the mortgage industry, my first job outside of football, as an account exec. I saw how well he did, and you can’t help but take notice.”
“The best thing about T&G is it’s redefining the industry, the relationships we have with clients, and how people look at and buy real estate,” Gary says. Everything comes back to relationships and nurturing bonds within the community. Real estate can be an intimidating subject, but people like Tessa and Gary want to guide the way. ”I think outside of the box.It’s stressful buying a house. I want to make it lighter for people. No one’s going to die here, we’re not doing brain surgery. If we don’t get this house, we’ll get the next one!” Tessa says with cheer.

JOHN ROLL MCLEAN: A Pioneer and Namesake by Alexander Spotswood More than one history-obsessed youngster growing up in McLean has thought that the town was named for Wilmer McLean, the Virginian who saw the First Battle of Manassas happen in his front yard and the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia happen in his front parlor four years later (this author happened to be one). In truth, however, the McLean has a much different namesake. John Roll McLean was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 17, 1848. A famous daguerreotype panorama of the city taken just seven days later showed a bustling city, a riverfront crowded with paddle-wheel
steamboats, and captured a town that had in a few short years since its settlement in 1788 become the sixth largest city in the nation. That same year, McLean's father, Washington McLean, would make an acquisition which would prove decisive in his son's life, buying the major Democratic Party paper in Cincinnati, The Cincinnati Enquirer. In the 1860 Census, Washington McLean, 40, is listed as the “Proprietor of the Cincinnati
Enquirer” owning about $56,300 in real estate with about $5,000 of possessions, his son, John, also makes an appearance as an 11 year old, but this would by no means be the last time the world would hear of John R. McLean. McLean got his degree at Harvard, but after finding law not to his liking, he joined his father on the politicallypowerful editorial board of the Enquirer, a position which seemed to greatly suit McLean as he became an important political operator in Ohio, receiving the

Together with former Secretary of War and then West Virginia Senator Stephen Elkins, (both men were immensely wealthy), McLean built an electric trolley line from Washington to the Great Falls of the Potomac to capitalize on the growing suburban boom (commuter rail line owners had already given their names to various locations around Northern Virginia, including Carl Wiehle, George B. Loring, and General W.M. Dunn), and despite challenges in construction, the rail line (with cars ordered from Cincinnati) opened in 1906, with McLean Station at about the halfway point along the line. And that is where we leave McLean, as a rather unpromising three-sided shelter station on the Great Falls and Old Dominion Line, next month we’ll explore the remainder of McLean’s career as the publisher of the Washington Post and the wild, lurid life of his playboy son Ned McLean, and how both helped their namesake town grow into the vibrant community it is today.

of work a day, not counting being at practice or traveling. It can get hard, but I love the job so it is worth it! Luckily the season is three months and not all year! Any memorable moments this season? My favorite moments this year were seeing the kids interact with each other. During Covid, kids could not sit close to each other, had to wear masks, they weren’t even allowed to cheer. We made the best of it, but it was not the same. Seeing the team come together and cheering and interacting with each was so nice to see. A major part of being on a team is making friends and laughing and cheering and having fun. Seeing the kids enjoy that was amazing! What are you most proud of in your coaching career? What are you most proud of from this season? I would say I am most proud of the relationships I have built. When coaching you meet so many people, kids, parents, other coaches. Working with kids is always amazing and helping them learn and grow is very meaningful to me. It is hard to pinpoint a single thing from this past season. If anything I would have to say my proudest moment of the season was at our first meet. The kids had so much spirit and were so excited to cheer for each other, I was very proud of them staying strong through Covid and coming out just as spirited and excited as ever.

How did you get into swim/dive?

I myself started swimming when I was 7 and swam through my senior year of college.
I always anticipate having a strong team. We may not always be the strongest team around with undefeated seasons, but we are always competitive. I expected the same this year. We knew we had a couple of very strong freshmen coming in which is always exciting!
How did you get into coaching, and for how long have you been doing it? I got into coaching through my summer league team. I started working as a junior/helper coach when I was 17. I stuck with it and eventually became a regular assistant coach and eventually the head coach of the team I swam for (not locally, I am from PA). I have been coaching for a total of 14 years. Before the season started, how did you

Does the team have a rallying cry?
by Miriam Keliddar over the holidays. Trying to keep the team motivated and full of spirit while facing these challenges was tricky, cheering with a mask on is hard! But I think the kids did a great job staying enthusiastic and they were happy to be back to (mostly) normal. What's the most difficult part of coaching? The most difficult part of coaching is balancing all of your responsibilities. I am also a full-time teacher. Balancing my day-to-day job, the demands of running an athletics team, and a personal life can be tricky. Coaching requires 2-3 hours

What do you look forward to, both in the off-season and next season? During the off-season, free time! I love coaching but it takes up so much free time. While I am always sad to see a season end I also look forward to having a more flexible schedule. For next year, I always look forward to the possibilities. I love seeing how much the kids improve during the off-season. I wonder who will step up to fill in places where we had seniors graduate. I also look forward to all the new team members we will meet in the new season.

Langley Lady Basketball Coach boasts Saxon Pride by Miriam Keliddar How did you get into basketball? I grew up playing basketball as a child and continued on as I grew up. How did you get into coaching, and for how long have you been doing it? I started coaching right after college. The timing worked out where Chrissy Kelly, my High School coach, had just taken the head coaching job at South County Secondary School. I asked her if I could join the staff and it was a great first coaching experience. I was an assistant at South County for 3 years, and then became head coach at Langley and have been at Langley for 11 years. Before the season started, how did you anticipate it would go? I had a feeling we would have a strong season. We had a very talented &
experienced senior class and we were welcoming some promising young talent. It felt like we had all of the pieces for a great team, and the girls worked hard. What was the team's greatest challenge this season? Our team had quite a few injuries during the season, so we had a lot of players having to be prepared (on short notice) to play many different positions on both ends of the floor. The girls did a phenomenal job with this, but it's definitely not an easy task.
learning styles, etc - so you have to be aware of those individual needs. But each individual needs to be working together as 1 to be successful. I think maintaining that balance of individuality and team chemistry is a challenge, but so important. Was there a turning point to this season?
What's the most difficult part of coaching?
A big milestone for us was the second Yorktown game during the regular season. I think the players really tapped into a new level of focus and confidence in that win. There was a lot of pride in the way we played and I think set the bar higher for how we could continue to play.

I found myself really enjoying watching the seniors go up against the younger players in drills and scrimmages. It just felt special and made me really proud of how far the seniors have come as well as how far the younger players can take things. What are you most proud of in your coaching career? What are you most proud of from this season? From my coaching career, I'm most proud of the relationships I have with my players after they graduate. There are so many of them that I keep in touch with and I get to
witness the amazing journeys they are on. I like to think that they carry memories of Langley basketball with them and I'm proud to have helped contributed to those memories and experiences. From this season, I'm really proud of our overall record. I think it reflects a tremendous amount of work and consistency over 4 months. Every win took so much focus and execution - it's amazing the girls were able to do that 19 times. I'm really proud of them. Does the team have any traditions, or a team saying or rallying cry?
Focus. It was our keyword or motto if you will. What do you anticipate for next season? I anticipate some growing pains early, as we figure out new rotations and new roles. Graduating 6 seniors, that played a ton of minutes, leaves a lot of unknowns we'll need to workout - but we will get there. What do you look forward to, both in the off season and next season? Helping to develop our returners and getting to meet some future Saxons.
