Things to Check before Concreting a Column A column is a vertical structure that shifts weights to the ground through the footings. The columns assist the house in withstanding various loads. It includes the structure's weight, the weight of the occupants, the weight of the house's furniture, etc. Since column shuttering is such a vital member of the construction, extra care must be taken when casting them. The deterioration of the column causes the majority of buildings to collapse. Keep in mind that it will be impossible to keep the house in place if the column collapses. To avoid this, careful checking should be done when the reinforced concrete column is being constructed. What Is Shuttering? Formwork includes column shuttering. It's a makeshift vertical frame that's used to make the concrete you want. Shuttering is the process of forming columns, walls, and bases. Formwork (shuttering) is used in concrete construction to create a framework into which fresh concrete is poured and hardened. The content of the formwork and the type of structural element determine the type of concrete formwork. Checklist for Concreting a Column The following checklists must be fulfilled when concreting a column. •

Check the scale of the column shuttering; it should match the drawing. Also, double-check the column center lines concerning adjacent columns or as mentioned in the drawing. The column shuttering should be strong enough to withstand the pressure of fresh concrete and stay in place throughout the concreting process, mainly when using a vibrator. To keep the concrete shuttering securely in place and aligned, a concrete starter termed a "kicker" must be cast well before shuttering is constructed. It should be made of the same mix of concrete as the shuttering. The starter ought to be tough enough to prevent shuttering from forming around it. Steel sheets or plywood sheets designed with suitable stiffeners and battens should be used to build the shuttering or column box. Make sure to use light shuttering oil on the concrete shutter. It will give a good finishing on the concrete's surface. After the concrete hardens, the shuttering oil allows the column formwork to be easily removed. It also extends the life of shuttering by increasing the number of shutter intervals.

Features of Nova Formworks/Shattering System Nova's shuttering system is adaptable, reusable, and eco-friendly. It's inexpensive and gives you more than 100 repetitions. It's easy to set up and take it down, and no special skills are needed. Since the Formwork Panels are lightweight, they improve labour productivity. This system of Plastic Shuttering Plates expedites and saves time during construction.
