Abbey Central Wins Residential Development of the Year

PEVERIL HOMES IS THRILLED TO SHARE THAT ABBEY CENTRAL, OUR FLAGSHIP JOINT

DEVELOPMENT

WITH STAGFIELD GROUP, HAS BEEN NAMED ‘RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE YEAR, UNDER 100 PLOTS’ AT THE PRESTIGIOUS MIDLANDS RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY AWARDS

The ceremony, held on Wednesday 25 June at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, brought together the very best of the region’s residential property sector to recognise innovation, quality, and excellence across the industry.

Located on the former Rushcliffe Borough Council Recycling Depot in West Bridgford, Nottingham, Abbey Central is a transformational development that has turned brownfield land into a vibrant, sustainable community. This visionary scheme delivers 71 high-quality new homes - including 21 much-needed affordable homes - and sets a new benchmark for low-carbon, family-friendly urban living.

From the outset, both Stagfield and Peveril Homes worked closely with the Council on its vision to deliver a neighbourhood that prioritises sustainability, biodiversity and architectural design. As one of the largest No-Gas developments in the region, Abbey Central features Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV panels and EV charging points throughout. Some homes are achieving up to 80% reductions in CO2 emissions and energy use compared to current building regulations - far surpassing the industry benchmark of 19%.

Designed to exceed national space standards, the development offers a range of tenures and housing types, including terraces, apartments, and linked homes, ensuring inclusive and futureproofed living for all.

Recognised as a blueprint for Net Zero development within the region, Abbey Central has been highlighted in Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Low Carbon and Sustainable Design Planning Document and is setting the standard for the future of sustainable housebuilding in the Midlands.

Since its launch in April 2024, the development has enjoyed tremendous success - achieving rapid sales, full occupation of key house types, and widespread acclaim for its pioneering approach to gas-free living.

Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council Cllr Neil Clarke said: “We’re exceptionally pleased for this recognition of an exemplar site highlighting how you can think differently, be environmentally friendly and keep within our 30% affordable housing goal. We hope this inspires fellow partners and developers to provide even more energy efficient affordable new homes that can make future generations proud of the places they call home. When the Council sold the land we really wanted to raise the bar and show developers what can be achieved. Transforming this brownfield site in the heart of one of our towns into such a flagship development is testament to all the partners’ aspirations and dedication to bring its vision to life.”

Stuart Brookes, Director of Sales and Marketing, at Peveril Homes added “We’re absolutely delighted that

Abbey Central has been recognised as ‘Residential Development of the Year’. This award is a testament to what can be achieved through strong collaboration, shared values, and a clear vision for the future of sustainable living. Working alongside Stagfield has been a pleasurefrom day one, our joint focus has been on creating a high-quality, energy-efficient community that delivers real, lasting value for residents and the wider West Bridgford area.

Kevin Hard, Managing Director of Stagfield, said: “We’re incredibly proud to receive this award, which recognises the shared vision, collaboration, challenges and commitment that went into delivering Abbey Central. This isn’t just a housing development - it’s a statement about what’s possible when a knowledgeable team prioritise sustainability, community and innovation, and work in partnership together. A huge thank you to our partners at Peveril Homes, Rushcliffe Borough Council, and everyone who helped bring Abbey Central to life.”

BEST BEER GARDENS FOR THAT SUNSHINE PINT

If there’s one thing we Brits can all agree on, it’s that any weather is pub weather.

But as winter fades and the sun starts to make a welcome return, it would be a shame not to take full advantage of every golden moment. And what better way to do that than with a trip to a beer garden?

Nottingham boasts some of the finest pubs and beer gardens around, so gather your mates, grab a drink, and check out our top picks for the best spots in the city. We guarantee they’ll be almost as refreshing as that first sip of a cold pint in the sunshine!

The Lincolnshire Poacher

If you prefer a traditional, well-stocked pub over blaring music, slot machines, and endless sports channels, the Lincolnshire Poacher is well worth the short trip up Mansfield Road. This beloved Castle Rock Brewery pub has built a strong reputation among locals as a go-to spot for good company, great ales, and an impressive selection of whiskey.

The rear garden, with its brick walls adorned with vintage enamel signs, adds to the pub’s character, while regular outdoor food events keep things lively. Inside, you’ll find cosy booths perfect for a relaxed pint, a welcoming crowd of regulars always up for a chat, and often a friendly dog or two. Whether you're looking to unwind, grab a bite, or enjoy a quality drink in a warm and inviting atmosphere, the Lincolnshire Poacher won’t disappoint.

The Organ Grinder

Another top-notch classic pub with a welcoming atmosphere - a roaring fire in winter, a lush beer garden for the summer months, is 'The Organ Grinder'. Spread across two levels, part of the garden sits on the rooftop, adorned with hanging baskets and benches, creating a relaxed suntrap—perfect for enjoying one of the many fine ales on offer.

As a Blue Monkey Brewery pub, the drink selection is second to none, and traditional pub snacks like pork pies and Scotch eggs add to the charm. Whether you’re settling in for a quick pint or a long, lazy afternoon, this pub is the ideal spot to unwind.

The Canalhouse

There’s something about waterfront drinking and dining that instantly gives off summer holiday vibes, and The Canalhouse delivers just that. Another gem from Castle Rock Brewery, this pub is just a stone’s throw from Nottingham Station and a short walk from The Lace Market and Nottingham Castle,

making it a prime spot for a relaxed drink by the water.

Housed in a unique building that once served as Nottingham’s canal museum, The Canalhouse is famous for having water flowing inside the pub itself, with moored canal boats just beyond its doors. The beer garden is one of the largest covered outdoor spaces in the city, filled with flowers, the gentle hum of passing boats, and, as evening falls, the warm glow of fairy lights. Whether you’re soaking up the sun or enjoying the atmosphere after dark, it’s the perfect place to unwind.

Ye Olde TripTo Jerusalem

A pub that needs little introduction, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is one of Nottingham’s most iconic landmarks, steeped in history and carved directly into the rock beneath the castle. Dating back to 1189, it is believed to be one of the oldest pubs in England, with every nook and cranny inside brimming with character. From centuries-old relics to intriguing legends, the pub is a treasure trove of fascinating tales.

Step outside, and you’ll find yourself in a spacious, leafy beer garden with a unique view of the castle’s cliffs. As you sip your drink, it’s easy to imagine the dramatic events that have unfolded around this historic pub over the past 800 years—a true Nottingham institution not to be missed.

Pitcher and Piano

No list of Nottingham’s best outdoor spaces would be complete without Pitcher & Piano, housed in a stunning Grade II-listed church in the heart of the Lace Market. Beautifully restored, this unique venue blends historic charm with modern elegance, making it a one-of-a-kind setting for drinks and dining on its inviting outdoor terrace (don’t worry—no gravestones in sight!).

Inside, the striking stained glass windows, exposed brick archways, and stylish interiors create a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're catching up with friends over cocktails or enjoying a bite from their new all-day food menu, Pitcher & Piano offers the perfect spot to unwind in style.

Willowbrook

The Willowbrook is a welcoming community pub in the suburb of Gedling, offering a spacious and contemporary setting for both casual drinks and dining. With its large openplan layout, the pub features a dedicated dining area at the rear and a walled beer garden—perfect for sunny afternoons. A function room is also available for private events and larger gatherings.

At the bar, you’ll find an impressive selection of 12 real ales, including two permanent Castle Rock brews alongside a rotating lineup of guest beers. For those looking for something different, there’s also a great range of premium lagers, ciders, wines, spirits, and soft drinks, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

A modern take on traditional pasta dishes in an intimate, but welcoming atmopshere.

Our first visit to the highly anticipated Pici managed to coincide with a babysitter booking so we jumped at a 20.00 reservation on the Saturday the week the website went live. I followed on social media and made a few decisions before our visit. Primarily not to repeat the same mistake I made at Raymonds by ordering a cold steak.

We arrived to a nicely thrumming dining room, everyone looked relaxed and happy and the staff weren’t hurried or harried. You can see right through to the open kitchen and the interior is the essence of neutral. On closer inspection it has been really well done with different textures adding interest and a more luxe feeling.

We were advised to order

between 4-5 dishes between 2 people as they serve small plates (well kind of, having seen photos of the steak, it looked massive) but we struggled to edit down to less than 6. The first dishes to arrive were the trout, the pizette and the courgette fritti.

The trout was well cured and when combined with every element on the plate (roe, cucumber, sauce and orange) made a very good mouthful, hitting smokey, pickled, salty and sweet it was a really strong start. I did a quick mental walk through the rest of our order and was glad we went a bit more than 4 plates as we were hungry. When the pizette arrived I took a small slice but stepped back and let The Northerner have the lions share. Whenever I am eating a pizzette/flatbread I find myself with 1 thought ticker taping through my

I like eating out, trying new restaurants and being on the receiving end of great hospitality. I am a mum with 2 children (one baby, one 9 year old) so I include how the places I visit work for families. I have worked in bars, cafes, restaurants and pubs for most of my life. Good places should be supported, celebrated and shared.

FOOD CRITIC

brain “I wish this was a pizza”.

For more mature palates the base was delicious and brought through all the knowledge from the success of Slice n Brew.

Next came the courgette fritti, despite The Northerner not liking courgette having seen photos I knew I wanted to try it. We squeezed over the lemon and from the first bite we were enamoured. The sweetness of the hot honey against the light crispy batter reminded me of pineapple fritters from a cantonese restaurant but with the lemon and ricotta elevating it from overly sweet to a triumph. This was the dish of the whole meal and we raced through it.

Next came the Taglioni, the pasta was al dente and the firmness meant the flavour of the pasta danced alongside the crab, chilli and pangrattato. The heat lingers at the back of this dish but after a couple of mouthfuls comes to the fore to remind you to slow down. I kicked myself when we finished it that we hadn’t ordered more pasta dishes to try.

Then the plaice arrived and my immediate reaction was ‘oh’ – it looked (and tasted) rubbery and appeared to lack seasoning and butter. The parsley and wild garlic sauce did nothing to improve the dish and The Northerner couldn’t shift the taste for the rest of the meal. When the table was cleared we told our waitress that it wasn’t to our taste and they (very generously and without being asked) refunded 50% of the

cost of the dish which we appreciated when we got the bill.

The last dish to come out the kitchen was the tomato dish, I am not sure if this had been forgotten or dishes come out as and when they are ready but it would have slotted into the earlier dishes with a lot more grace. As the last dish to arrive we enjoyed it, but felt like something was missing. No matter though we were ging to share tiramisu for pudding and I had high expectations.

I am a big fan of a tiramisu that looks like it comes from a vast tray in a refrigerated drawer (like this one does). It looked the

part but on closer inspection I suspect they used milk chocolate on top and most of the sponge fingers hadn’t had the coffee soaking they need to contrast with bitterness against the creaminess. In its favour, the mascarpone had a decent level of booze in it so it definitely delivered 50% but we left half of it and felt a little disappointed.

With this being Pici’s opening weekend I was really impressed by the service. The restaurant was still welcoming reservations at 21.30 so their opening weekend will have been an undeniable success but I will definitely stick to pasta and fritti next time.

NEW SUMMER MENU AT MARCO PIERRE WHITE

A Nottingham restaurant has just launched a brand-new summer menu that blends seasonal dishes perfect for the time of year.

Sitting alongside its range of renowned signature and classic steak selections, the new menu features all the hallmarks of one of the country’s greatest ever chefs!

Those now looking for an unrivalled dining experience across the East Midlands, will, according to the venue’s boss, be so spoilt for choice they’ll want to come back again and again, such is the range and quality of what’s on offer.

In addition, the new menu includes a price busting set-menu. Called the ‘1961’ it will allow diners the option to enjoy two courses for only £20.95 while those who choose three courses, will receive a complimentary glass of wine during the venue’s ‘golden wine hour’.

The new summer menu has been launched at Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse Bar & Grill on Wollaton Street, Nottingham and includes a selection of lighter dishes ideal for the time of year without compromising on the ever-popular steaks and main courses which has made it one of the must go places for a meal.

Another new addition to the menu are some amazing wine pairing selections that not only complement the dishes on offer but increases further guests’ enjoyment of their meal.

Jolanata Szulczynska, food and beverage manager said: “We’re one of very few restaurants

in the area to constantly bring out new seasonal menus and provides a point of difference for those looking to enjoy a meal out and this new summer edition is packed full of dishes perfect for the season.

“The set menu is also a great way to dine out without breaking the bank and is called the ‘1961’ as it has been named after the birth year of the great Marco Pierre White. For starters dishes include a Heritage tomato & burrata salad, Caponta of Mediterranean vegetables and the Box Tree chicken liver pâté which is inspired from Marco’s time at the famous restaurant in Ilkley he worked at when he was younger.

“The mains are just as tantalising and includes a Sea bass alla Siciliana, Chargrilled pork loin and a Grilled salmon béarnaise. There’s also an Escalope of chicken alla Milanese, Black

& ricotta ravioli and Roast rump of lamb.”

The new range of summer specials sit alongside the sizzling range of British bred steaks with signature cuts such as Marco’s favourite Fillet steak Tournedos Rossini and larger cuts such as the Porterhouse T-Bone, Chateaubriand and Tomahawk.

Jolanta added: “The new summer menu has been designed to complement the vibrant atmosphere in the restaurant, meaning our guests can feel inspired by the choice of food on offer and enjoy their dining experience at the same time.

“The set menu is also a great way to enjoy a meal out without breaking the bank. It’s terrific value for money especially when you compare it against some other offerings on the market.”

jewellery STATEMENT

As race day fashion and wedding season approach, styleconscious attendees are embracing a bold new direction in accessories. Statement jewellery is stepping into the spotlight, transforming outfits with personality, drama, and individuality.

Leading the trend are oversized clipon earrings, which made a striking comeback on the runways of Paris Fashion Week. These retro-chic pieces are ideal for guests looking to add instant glamour without committing to pierced styles. From sculptural designs to vibrant colours, clip-ons are no longer an afterthought—they’re the main event.

Meanwhile, vintage brooches are enjoying a stylish revival, especially among modern gents. Pinned to lapels or worn creatively on ties and pocket

squares, these timeless pieces bring a refined touch to formalwear. “Brooches allow men to express personal style in a subtle but elegant way,” says individuality and sustainability life into heritage pieces and as an art form. Whether you're attending Royal Ascot, a countryside wedding, or a city soirée, statement accessories are your secret weapon for standing out stylishly.

Back to Basics

For shopaholics, the idea of clearing out of their wardrobe and focusing on a few simple pieces that work together is probably a nightmare. A stripped-back selection of clothing is known as a capsule wardrobe.

The term was coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique, in the 1970s. While you may love the idea of having a wardrobe full of clothes, choosing to focus on key pieces can make picking outfits easier and might even mean you can create more looks. Not convinced?

Check out our tips for creating a capsule wardrobe and see for yourself.

Think in numbers

It may sound silly, but setting a number limit on your clothes will help you keep tabs of what you have and ensure that you don’t go overboard. For beginners, 50 or fewer is a good place to start, and remember that this also includes all of your shoes and bags, as well as other accessories like jewellery. Once you become a more confident capsule wardrobe owner, you may want to reduce your number to as few as 33.

Choose things you love

One of the great things about having a capsule wardrobe is that you are able to fill it with items that you adore. Before you get to work, sit down and make a list of things you really like when it comes to fashion. This could be a certain colour, print, style of trouser or even heel height. Try and focus your attention on things that you really like, this way you’ll always be wearing an outfit that you feel great in.

Be inspired

If you want to make the most of your capsule wardrobe, you’ll need to do some research online and get inspired on ways to mix and match what you’ve got. Say you’ve chosen a piece in a specific print like dogtooth, it’s a good idea to look for inspiration on Pinterest and see how others are wearing it. It’s fine to pick statement pieces in bold prints, just make sure you

can make more than outfit out of them.

Ignore trends

It’s easy to get sucked into what’s ‘trendy’ when it comes to fashion, but this won’t help you to create a perfect capsule wardrobe. Instead, focus on key pieces that will always be in style and will see you through every season. A great pair of jeans, a classic white shirt, a shift dress and black boots are all good choices.

Try things on

This may sound obvious, but it’s important that you keep trying on your clothes so you can come up with new ways of wearing things, meaning you won’t need as much. It’s also important to try things on when you are in a shop or order something online. Make sure what you’re choosing is comfortable, fit for purpose and has a valuable place in your capsule wardrobe.

How to make your

As summer approaches, many will consider buying a whole new summer wardrobe; however, this can be both time-consuming and costly.

So, clothing brand Superdry has offered expert advice on prolonging the lifespan of your favourite clothing items and maintaining their quality - keeping your beloved pieces looking pristine for longer.

Wash smart, not often!

Over-washing your clothes can lead to unnecessary stretching and wear. Instead, consider rotating the clothes you wear, allowing your garments ample time between uses. This simple tip not only prolongs the lifespan of your clothing but also encourages you to rediscover items tucked away in the back of your wardrobe, reducing the temptation to make unnecessary purchases.

For delicate items, some professionals in the costume industry go as far as recommending a gentle spritz of vodka to eliminate odour and help preserve the fabric's integrity by avoiding unnecessary washing. This secret method freshens the garment without risking damage and is perfect for dry clean only items that cannot be washed in a machine.

*Know Your Fabrics* Not all fabrics react in the same way, so take care when applying any treatment. Alcohol may cause a colour change so always test on a small area of the garment first. And don’t hold the spray bottle too close – you’re aiming for a gentle mist across the fabric surface.

Make the most of cooler washes

Embrace the benefits of cooler wash

Fashion expert Superdry reveals top tips for maintaining your clothes

cycles, which conserve energy, preserve the vibrant colours of your clothing, and reduce the chances of shrinkage. This tip is a great way to save even more money and massively reduces the chances of accidentally ruining your favourite outfit.

Furthermore, be sure to consult the washing instructions on the label for specific temperature recommendations for your clothes, as many delicate items will need to be hand-washed only.

Many washing machines now have ‘Hand Wash’ programmes which not only wash at a lower temperature but also agitate the garments less, with a gentler spin cycle for reduced creasing. If you opt for traditional handwashing, always use a specialist detergent which will be kinder to your clothes and your hands. Rinse thoroughly to rinse residual detergent away, and squeeze firmly to remove excess water – but never wring or twist as that can cause damage to the fabric or distort a garment’s shape.

Let nature do its work

Harness the power of nature by ditching the dryer in favour of a clothesline or drying rack. This helps extend the lifespan of your clothing by minimizing wear and tear caused by heat exposure. Sunlight offers natural antimicrobial properties and acts as a gentle whitening agent for fabrics.

Additionally, you can enhance the whitening effect further by lightly spritzing clothes with white vinegar before hanging them outdoors, helping the sun to keep your whites looking fresh.

*Know Your Fabrics* Some fabrics will become stiff if dried in this way, especially those made from natural fibres like cotton. To avoid this, trying partly drying outside and finish off with a few minutes in the tumble dryer. Gently pull garments into shape to remove creases before hanging out or placing on the drying rack – you’ll reduce the amount of ironing needed! And take care when using clothes pegs

clothes last longer

that they don’t leave pressure marks on delicate fabrics.

That's the spot!

Prioritise spot cleaning to target stains and spills, reducing frequent wash cycles and extending your clothes' lifespan. Over-washing contributes to shrinkage, colour fading, and premature deterioration of your favourite items. If you spot a small mark or stain on your clothing item, try spot cleaning before washing it unnecessarily.

*Know Your Fabrics* Match the solution to the problem – using the right product for both the type of fabric and the type of stain will help you get the best results. And always follow the instructions and test on a small, out-of-the-way part of the garment first to check there’s no unintended colour change or damage.

Bag it up

Safeguard your delicate items, such as lingerie and knitwear, by washing them in mesh laundry bags, which provide an added layer of protection against stretching and snagging during the wash cycle.

Additionally, many clothes will benefit from being washed inside out. This offers further defence against friction and abrasion, prolongs garment lifespan, and minimises damage.

Be extra careful when ironing

Always take care when ironing your clothes; this is an easy way to ruin your favourite item. Make sure to select the appropriate temperature setting and use a clean, damp pressing cloth for delicate fabrics to prevent heat damage and preserve garment quality.

Proper ironing techniques make your clothes look their best and contribute to their longevity, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Professionals always iron items made from natural fibres like cotton and silk while they are still damp as it helps deal with creasing.

And invest in a detachable Teflon soleplate to use on synthetic or delicate fabrics – this diffuses the heat and prevents scorching or burning.

Bin your old wire hangers

Always store your clothes correctly to maintain their shape and condition. For example, knitwear should be folded and stored on a shelf instead of hanging to prevent stretching.

Another key thing to remember when storing your clothes is to make sure

you use hangers that are designed to properly support the weight and shape of each garment. For example, using a cheap wire hanger for your expensive blazer is going to ruin its shape. Instead, you should consider investing in a proper jacket hanger that will keep the correct shape.

And always make use of the hanging loops that you find inside your clothes – they’ve been added for a reason: to help keep garments in the right position when they’re on the hanger, supporting the weight and stopping fabrics from stretching and distorting.

Revive and thrive

Embrace a mindset of repair over replacement. Acquire basic sewing skills or enlist the assistance of a tailor to mend damaged garments and extend their usability. From reattaching buttons to darning holes, simple repairs can significantly reduce waste and promote a more sustainable approach to fashion consumption.

Additionally, investing in higher-quality clothing often means easier repairs and longer-lasting wear, further minimising your environmental impact and saving you money in the long run.

Resolution Together

Standfirst: Nelsons’ Emma Davies dispels some common myths about the Resolution Together family law dispute model.

Misconception 1: One solicitor cannot be impartial

Clarification: One of the most prevalent misconceptions is that a single solicitor cannot provide impartial advice to both parties. However, Resolution Together is designed to ensure fairness and balance. The solicitor is specially trained to navigate the complexities of acting impartially as a neutral facilitator while safeguarding each client’s interests. The process includes individual meetings with each party to understand their circumstances and priorities, followed by joint sessions where legal advice is provided to help both parties make informed decisions.

Misconception 2: Resolution Together is suitable for all couples

Clarification: Resolution Together is not suitable for every couple. It is specifically designed for those who are willing and able to cooperate and work together for a fair outcome. Factors such as trust, willingness to collaborate, and the absence of coercive control or abuse are crucial for the model to be effective. Couples who meet these criteria can benefit from a streamlined and less adversarial process.

Misconception 3: It only addresses financial disputes

Clarification: While Resolution Together is highly effective in resolving financial disputes, it is also suitable for addressing a wide range of family law issues, including child arrangements and property division. The solicitor provides comprehensive legal advice on all aspects of the separation, ensuring that both parties have the information they need to reach mutually beneficial agreements.

Misconception 4: It is more expensive than traditional methods

Clarification: Another common misconception is that using one solicitor for both parties is more expensive. In reality, Resolution Together can be more cost-effective than traditional methods, where each party hires its own solicitor. By sharing one lawyer, couples can significantly reduce legal fees and associated costs, making the process more affordable.

Misconception 5: Confidentiality is compromised

Clarification: Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the Resolution Together model. The process is private, ensuring that sensitive information remains confidential. This is particularly important for high-net-worth individuals who may have complex financial arrangements and assets. By keeping disputes out of Court, Resolution Together protects privacy and minimises the risk of unwanted publicity.

Misconception 6: It is a new and unproven method

Clarification: While Resolution Together is relatively new, it is built on established principles of collaborative law and mediation. The model has been developed by Resolution, a national organisation of family law professionals, and is supported by extensive training and guidance. It represents a transformative approach to family law, offering a viable alternative to traditional adversarial methods.

Conclusion

Resolution Together offers a unique and effective way to navigate separation and divorce, particularly for high-net-worth individuals. By addressing common misconceptions, we hope to provide clarity and encourage more couples to consider this innovative model. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out. Together, we can find the best path forward.

A battle of wits between you and someone you are clashing with may not end well. A triangle of love may result if you don’t take control of a situation. It's important that you keep your secrets safe and be careful in whom you place your trust. Someone you know well may ask you for financial help, but there is a danger that you could lose your money and a friendship at the same time.

Someone will start to annoy you immensely with their obvious mind games. Their demands indicate neediness and attention seeking. A chance meeting with someone new could lead to a short romantic fling, or in some cases, an affair that will prove emotional and a bit of a roller coaster. If you are communicating with someone on the internet, a meeting arranged soon may well result in you both finding true happiness and long-lasting love. A surprise visitor will appear at your door bearing expensive gifts, but you may not be in the mood to listen to their excuses, yet again.

Someone is making a big deal out of something that are not important. Why are you giving someone credit where it is not due? A point of no return has already been and gone between you and either a lover or close friend. Play the patience game because you are about to learn more information that will lead to making some very important decisions that will change the course of your life forever.

Family matters will reach a head revealing previously unspoken truths. Although you worry about loved ones, all you can do is be there playing a supportive role. You are about to embark on a fantastic new journey, either alone or with a partner, but remember, all this excitement is going to cost money. A house move may be seriously considered for numerous reasons, but when the time is right, everything will slot into place.

Make Yours A Wild Summer

Having experienced one of the driest springs on record, followed by a mini heatwave, it is easy to forget that Summer only officially started on June 21st. Summer is a great time to get out and about to see, hear and connect with nature on your doorstep. The warmer weather, dry spells and wonderfully long days are perfect for getting out and about before settling down somewhere to take in a long, lingering sunset.

Wildflower meadows are bursting with blooms and beneficial insects from bees and hoverflies to delicate butterflies; wetlands are alive with ducklings, signets and goslings as well as swooping swifts and martins - whilst woodlands offer a shady retreat when the sun is high.

There really is so much choice for anyone who enjoys the natural world. Our gardens are temporary crèches for fledgling birds, whilst garden ponds and damp meadows attract dainty damselflies and more robust dragonflies. House martins can be seen searching the skies above suburban gardens for insects before being replaced at dusk by bats – always a delightful sight whilst you are

relaxing in the garden with cool drink at the end of long summer’s day. Now is also a great time to look out for the impressive hummingbird hawk moth. These colourful day-flying moths can be heard ‘humming’ as they move from flower to flower – so keep an eye out on species such as valerian, honeysuckle and buddleia.

The long days also provide an ideal chance to visit nature sites near and far – so why not check out some local Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust reserves such as Attenborough near Beeston, Idle Valley near Retford, Skylarks at Holme Pierrepont or Besthorpe alongside the Trent between the villages of Besthorpe and Collingham. We’ve got dozens of sites here in Notts and across the UK, The Wildlife Trusts care for well over 2000 reserves – so there’s plenty to keep you busy.

Derbyshire

This beautiful postcard county is filled with rolling hills, country houses, and small but quirky towns ideal for tourists from near and far. Here at Nottinghamshire Aspect, we have put together a guide detailing the top destinations of Derbyshire, both big and small, that you should pay a visit to this summer.

MATLOCK

Once famed for its hydro and spa treatments, Matlock is a small town with a central location in Derbyshire. Developed in the 19th century by famed industrialist John Smedley to be a spa town, Matlock is renowned for its Gothic style of architecture and its proximity to the River Derwent. Every year, thousands of tourists flock to the picturesque town to visit the unique, independent shopping scene and explore the surrounding greenery in places like Halls Ley Park- with its popular boating lake, tennis courts, skatepark, and riverside walking trails.

MATLOCK BATH

Just 1.5 miles south of Matlock is Matlock Bath, nestled in the gorge of the River Derwent. Named ‘Little Switzerland’ by Lord Byron, this petite settlement is surrounded on all sides by riverside gardens, wooded hillsides, and rocky limestones crags, making it popular with writers of the day. Even now, writers and artists regularly stop in the area in search of inspiration. From September to late October every year, the Matlock Bath Illuminations occur when the townsfolk decorate the riverbanks and use floodlights to light up the cliffs in celebration of the area’s beauty. Featuring decorated boats, entertainment, and fireworks on selected days, this is a festival not to be missed.

ASHBOURNE

Dubbed ‘The Gateway to Dovedale’, the town of Ashbourne has more than two hundred listed buildings, most with Tudor or Georgian origins. The town’s quaint cobbled streets weave through the historic architecture and are lined with small, independent shops, restaurants, and cafés. Sample a slice

of the town’s history with a piece of Ashbourne Gingerbread, a recipe acquired from French POWs during the Napoleonic Wars. Take a trip to the house of the ‘King of Ashbourne’ Dr John Taylor, a grand 17th century mansion where he played host to notable English writer Samuel Johnson. Or hike the Tissington Trail through the luscious flats in this area of the Peak District.

DOVEDALE

A gorgeous viewpoint not far from the town of Ashbourne, Dovedale is a stunning area of natural beauty. The River Dove flows through the centre of this two-to-three-mile stretch, lined by limestone ravines and dotted with steppingstones. Thorpe Cloud, an isolated reef knoll, stands tall against the skyline of Dovedale, giving ‘hikeworthy’ views to anyone who makes it to the top.

Iconic children's characters The Wombles are making a comeback with their first retrospective, interactive exhibition opening at the Heights of Abraham in the Peak District this July.

WOMBLE MANIA! looks back at the characters’ history since the 1970’s and demonstrates how The Wombles’ ecoconscious message is relevant to a new generation of fans today.

Inspired by the theme tune lyrics ‘underground, overground, Wombling free’, the attraction charts The Wombles journey from Elisabeth Beresford’s original 1968 book to being mega stars of the 70s via BBC animation, films and pop music, gaining 4 top ten hits in the charts at that time (1974 – ‘75)

From book to the TV animation, films and pop songs that followed, visitors can relive the ‘womble mania’ of the 70’s and 80’s. The showcase also features The Wombles of today, via the latest new books, music and CGI reboot on YouTube – all of which demonstrate the characters’ environmental ethos to recycle and re-purpose.

The walk-through, undercover attraction presents seven scenes, starting with a whimsical recreation of Elisabeth Beresford’s study. From writing study to artistic representation of a child’s bedroom of the time, the display features exclusive vintage memorabilia including games and plush. The exhibition then takes a dive into the The Burrow, where The Wombles lived, and introduces the main characters. It

further takes a nostalgic look at the original stop-frame series, animated by Ivor Wood and Barry Leith, and narrated by Bernard Cribbins. Visitors can then uncover the narrative story behind Mike Batt’s beloved theme tune, ‘The Wombling Song’ and ‘join’ the band at an interactive selfie spot. The exhibition concludes with The Wombles of today, illustrating their pertinence for the modern audience. Drawing on the litter-picking passions of the characters, this area features a 7ft sculpture of Great Uncle Bulgaria created by local artist, which is made from repurposed refuse. The exhibition also introduces the Wombles Community Charity, which champions sustainability through local environmental groups.

Make an eco-conscious pledge

Visitors will be encouraged to make an environmental pledge at the end of the exhibition. Through placing their hands on Great Uncle Bulgaria’s ‘paw print’, a promise can be made to ‘be more Womble’ e.g. start litter picking in your local area, or upcycle your rubbish – in the true Womble spirit!

Womble Discovery Trail

As part of their visit, visitors can enjoy a Womble discovery trail around the 60-acre Heights of Abraham estate. Here, they can learn about each of the characters and their values - which range from caring for the environment, but also for one each other and the wider community.

Meet and Greets with the Wombles

Visitors can meet The Womble characters daily during the school holidays, until 1st September. Then they appear at weekends only, until half term when they are in residence daily, from 25th October to 2nd November.

Book tickets to Womblemania: The Exhibition at www.heightsofabraham.com/ see-and-do/the-wombles

To promote eco-friendly travel in true Wombles style – the attraction is offering £5 ‘green ticket’ discounts to visitors who arrive by train or bus. Situated in the Derbyshire hills, The Heights of Abraham runs tours ‘underground’ into their two show caverns, and ‘overground’ via the ride up the Tor in alpine-style cable cars reaching the summit, around 1,000 feet above sea level, overlooking the resort of Matlock Bath.

With gentle limestone valleys and plateaus in the White Peak, and more rugged gritstone ridges in the Dark Peak, the area is perfect for tourists looking to walk, hike, or cycle amongst its breath-taking landscapes. Fit for visitors of all ages and abilities, the Peak District is filled with trails and activities at all levels of difficulty.

HATHERSAGE

Hathersage is a key historic village in the Peak District, believed to be the birthplace of Robin Hood’s right-hand man Little John as well as the known location of his grave site. Hathersage is also close to several other significant associated sites, such as Robin Hood’s Cave, Well, and Stoop. Encircled by natural beauty spots, Hathersage is a short distance away from the Stanage and Burbage edges, Burton Clough, and the Offerton and Abney Moors making it an ideal base from which to explore Hope Valley.

BAKEWELL

Settled on the banks of the River Wye, the town of Bakewell is famed for the creation of the Bakewell Tart. However, this small patch of Derbyshire is also known locally for its exquisite architecture, including a formation of five medieval arched stone bridges, proving to be a magnet for photographers and painters from up and down the country. The outdoor and livestock markets are an exciting stop for tourists, and you can’t leave Bakewell without sampling some of their locally brewed beer while on a tour of the Thornbridge Brewery.

EYAM

Eyam is best known as ‘the plague village’, a memorable moniker from the area’s past. In 1665 through to 1666, England was gripped by its worst outbreak of the plague since the Black Death in 1348. Yet, when the plague reached Eyam, the town decided to isolate itself from the rest of the country with no one choosing to flee from the illness. Much of the population died, but some had a unique, natural immunity from the disease which can be traced all the way to their ancestors who remain in the village. Nowadays, Eyam has dedicated museum for tourists to uncover the village’s selfless past, along with a craft centre and pilgrimage tours through the Peak District.

CROMFORD

The ‘birthplace of the Industrial Revolution’, Sir Richard Arkwright built the first water powered cotton mills and pioneered the factory system where Cromford stands today. In fact, the village was developed around these inventions as a purpose-built industrial community, providing housing for local labourers. In the modern day, Cromford Mills stands as a World Heritage Site, offering guided tours and educating guests on the story of the site and its restoration. Mason Mills is also a recognised World Heritage Site and encompasses a café, a shopping complex, and a working Textiles Museum.

CHESTERFIELD

Chesterfield is North Derbyshire’s largest market town, most often recognised for its distinctive crooked spire. Thought to be caused by green timber covered in heavy lead tiles, no one truly knows why the spire is shaped the way it is although this inimitable feature definitely adds character to the town. Shopping is a key aspect of Chesterfield’s tourism industry as the assortment of flea, farmers, and artisan markets draw shoppers in from all over the area. For a glance at the history of Chesterfield, many stop at the Museum and Art Gallery, or head across to the historic National Trust site of Hardwick Hall to take in the beauty of the impressive Elizabethan estate.

BOLSOVER

Bolsover Castle is an important and iconic English Heritage site in North East Derbyshire.

Bolsover is not actually a castle, but rather a 17thcentury mansion built on the site of an old Norman castle. The initial owner of Bolsover, Charles Cavendish, pulled down the remains of the Norman structure in order to build Bolsover Castle atop the hill that overlooks the town of Bolsover. Now a site of historical significance, Bolsover Castle is open to the public all year round and regularly hosts living history events in the summer months as an exciting way of teaching its guests about the castle’s history.

WIRKSWORTH

An intricate network of lanes and alleys, Wirksworth was built on the backs of the lead mining, textiles, and quarrying industries. Serving as inspiration for many famous British writers, such as George Eliot and D.H. Lawrence, the idyllic Derbyshire town becomes flooded with tourists throughout the summer. Home to the National Stone Centre, Mount Cook Adventure Centre, and Heritage Centre, Wirksworth is full of activities to keep keen visitors happy.

Places to visit in Lincolnshire

If you love to explore, then Lincolnshire has lots to offer. From the stunning scenery of Gibraltar Point to its strategic role in WW2, there is so much to discover.

Call of the wild

Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve, Skegness

One of Lincolnshire’s best loved attractions is Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve.

The beautiful stretch of unspoilt coastline runs from the edge of Skegness to the mouth of the Wash. It is known for its impressive views and sheer scale and diversity of wildlife. It is home to a diverse range of species including emperor moths, nightingales, greenwinged orchids, bitterns and buzzards.

It is also worth planning a trip at different times of year to experience the landscape during the various seasons. Run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, most paths around the reserve are accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and mobility scooters.

Woodhall Spa

Woodhall Spa, a beautiful village with an Edwardian

character, is often regarded as one of Lincolnshire's most attractive places.

It is home to two top class golf courses, the unique 'Kinema in the Woods', which dates from 1922 and is the only fully functioning cinema in the UK to employ back projection, Cottage Museum, where you can discover the history of Woodhall Spa, Jubilee Park outdoor heated swimming pool and several aviation heritage sites associated with 617 Squadron (the Dambusters). It is at the heart of what is often referred to as 'Bomber' County. By 1945 and the last few months of the 2nd World War the RAF and USAAF had 49 operational airfields in the county of Lincolnshire, with Lancaster bombers based at half of them. The majority of bases have long since closed, but in recent years several have become the home for aviation heritage centres or the site for Squadron memorials. As 617 Squadron (the 'Dambusters') operated from RAF Woodhall Spa from January 1944 to May 1945, the village is the ideal base from which to tour many sites that played a vital role in the war.

Fresh Research Reveals Why Pub Stays Are Britain’s Top Travel Trend for 2025.

StayinaPub

Fresh research has revealed why pubs with rooms are fast becoming the top choice for staycations in 2025, combining great food, warm hospitality, and unique experiences to offer the ultimate Great British getaway.

Stay in a Pub, the UK’s leading platform for pub accommodation, recently commissioned the 2025 Pub Accommodation Report to uncover exactly what UK travellers are looking for when booking a domestic break.

The research supported by national tourist bodies, Visit England and Visit Britain, surveyed over 4,000 consumers and operators, and revealed that despite wider economic pressures, optimism in the pub accommodation sector remains strong. As travellers seek authentic, memorable experiences, Britain’s pubs are transforming from beloved drinking establishments into vital hubs for tourism and local economies.

Key Findings of the 2025 Pub Accommodation Report:

• Consumers know that pubs provide an experience they can’t get elsewhere. Asked about what pubs do better than other types of accommodation – 53% said tradition and historic charm, 53% a relaxed and informal environment and 50% a friendlier atmosphere.

• The quality and variety of food and drink at pubs have become a standout feature, with 67% of consumers agreeing that pubs offer the best range of food and drink compared to other types of accommodation.

• 92% of consumers say reviews are a critical part of their decisionmaking process when booking pub accommodation. Positive feedback is a key driver in attracting guests to pubs, showcasing the importance of online reputation.

• Pubs are at the heart of the places people want to visit and the research found that pub staff have a big role to play in linking people with these communities with 78% of consumers saying they are likely to seek local information and recommendations during their stay.

While the report highlights several strengths of the pub accommodation sector, it also indicates opportunities for growth. With consumers increasingly turning to online platforms for bookings, there is a growing need to provide visibility and streamlined booking systems. The research highlights that 38% of 18 to 34 year olds claim they don’t know how to book a stay in a pub and 53% of consumers say that a complicated booking system would

deter them, presenting an opportunity for operators to enhance their online presence and simplify the booking process.

A recent study by Airbnb showed that people in the UK love heading to the country and that over a half of those surveyed were planning or considering a ‘pub-cation’ this spring. This reflects Stay in a Pub’s research, which shows that travellers are increasingly seeking authentic, local stays, with 63% saying that they choose pub accommodation when going on countryside holidays in the UK.

Sophie Braybrooke, Chief Executive at Stay in a Pub, said: "The great British pub has always been a place for real people, real food and real stories. Today’s pub stays capture that spirit perfectly, giving travellers a way to explore the UK through fantastic food, great hospitality and unique experiences you simply don’t get with big hotel chains."

"This research shows that pubs are offering exactly what consumers want in 2025: local flavour, personal service, quality and value. It’s a positive story for the pub sector, but even more so for anyone planning their next great British escape."

Stay in a Pub features a collection of over 1,600 pubs with rooms across the UK, including boutique pubs, traditional coaching inns, and quality affordable pub accommodation. MEDICAL ADVICE

ESSENTIAL GUIDE FOR TRAVELLING ABROAD

While we’d always like our travels to go as smoothly as possible, we sometimes encounter medical issues that can seem scary, daunting, and impossible to overcome efficiently.

To help with this, Steve Bater, Money Saving Expert at nhsdiscountoffers. co.uk suggest six tips to handle medical emergencies abroad and potentially avoid hefty medical expenses.

Pack a first aid kit before flying Preparation is key when it comes to handling illness while travelling. Either because of an existing condition or just to be ready for anything, the first thing recommended is to pack a first aid kid, which can include essentials like pain relievers, antihistamines, antiseptics, and any regular medications you may require.

If you're travelling to a country, you’ve never been to or know little about, research how its healthcare system works in advance and familiarise yourself with the local healthcare facilities. Make sure to take all steps necessary to enter the country safely, such as getting vaccinations if suggested, and keep digital copies of important health documents. Finally, while many are tempted to skip travel insurance when booking a vacation, remember that it is indispensable, especially if embarking on a long trip. Moreover, ensure it covers a wide range of medical scenarios so you can fly with confidence.

Get medical insurance (and a GHIC)

When travelling outside the UK, encountering a medical emergency can be daunting. Depending on the severity of the problem, the first thing to do is either find the nearest medical facility or hospital or contact your travel insurance provider to understand your coverage and seek advice.

Always carry your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) if travelling within Europe. These provide access to necessary state healthcare at a reduced cost or sometimes for free. In non-EU countries, having comprehensive travel insurance is essential to avoid exorbitant medical bills. For example, getting treatment for a broken arm in the US might cost up to $4,000 without surgery, which might add an extra $10,000 to the mix.

Read about medical systems abroad

Healthcare systems vary widely worldwide, especially in popular holiday destinations like the EU and the US. In the EU, presenting your EHIC or GHIC can help you receive medical treatment at a lower cost. However, travel insurance is essential in the US as it operates a primarily private healthcare system where treatments can be very expensive.

Familiarise yourself with the healthcare protocols of your destination before travelling. For instance, in countries like Spain or France, public healthcare is generally of high quality, whereas in the US, you'll need to locate a suitable healthcare provider and understand the insurance claims process to avoid hefty out-of-pocket expenses.

What to do if you need to go to an A&E department

If an emergency lands you in an A&E department while abroad, staying calm is vital. Ensure you have your travel insurance details handy and other important documents such as your passport or ID card. Inform the hospital staff about your travel insurance to facilitate the billing process, and remember that you can use a translation app if a language barrier presents itself.

Always keep a record of all treatments and expenses incurred for insurance claims. Depending on the country, you may need to pay upfront and seek reimbursement later.

How to bring medication back to the UK

Once you’ve sorted all the bureaucratic steps of insurance, reimbursements and hospital papers and it is finally time to go back home, there are specific steps to follow

if you need to bring prescriptions through the UK border.

• Obtain a copy of your prescription and ensure it is in English or translated appropriately.

• Keep the medication in its original packaging with clear labelling.

• If you can, carry a letter from the prescribing doctor detailing the medication and its necessity.

• Declare your medication at customs to avoid any issues.

• Remember that some medications may have restrictions, so check the UK government's guidelines on importing medicines before you travel.

Beware of illegal medications

While most basic drugs are easy to travel with, international travel with certain medications can be legally complex. You must take this into account when flying from and to the UK, as some countries have strict regulations against drugs commonly prescribed in the UK and vice versa. For example, medications containing pseudoephedrine, which is found in over-the-counter medicines like Sudafed and Vicks, are banned in Japan. Moreover, drugs containing codeine, tramadol, or certain psychotropics may be prohibited or restricted in some countries, such as Egypt, Greece and the UAE where the above are controlled substances. After checking your destination’s regulations and finding that you need to pack a controlled medication, consult with your GP to obtain a letter explaining the medication's necessity. You can also contact your destination country’s embassy for clarification to avoid confiscation or legal issues.

EDUCATING YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT VAPING

Over the years, vaping has emerged as a popular alternative to smoking, especially among adults seeking a less harmful option. In 2022, a study by the International Tobacco Control found that 24% of people aged 16-to-19 years in England reported having vaped in the past 30 days. The prevalence of underage vaping in the UK cannot be ignored, and while vaping offers several benefits for adult smokers, it is crucial for parents to communicate effectively with their children about the complexities and potential risks of vaping.

Online vape retailer Vape and Go has conducted research into underage vaping in the UK to produce a guide for parents who are looking to educate their children about vaping. This guide offers a balanced perspective, emphasising the importance of keeping vaping products out of the hands of young people, while also highlighting the potential advantages vaping can offer adult smokers.

What is vaping?

Vaping involves inhaling vapour produced by an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) or similar device. These devices heat a liquid, known as e-liquid or vape juice, to a temperature where it becomes a vapour that can be inhaled. For many adults, vaping presents a more controlled and less harmful alternative to smoking.

Research by Public Health England (PHE) suggests that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking traditional cigarettes. However, for children, vaping can significantly impact both their physical and mental health.

Start the conversation early

It's crucial to discuss vaping with your children before they encounter it in their social environments. Providing accurate, age-appropriate information early on can help them make informed choices. Explain that while vaping can be beneficial for adults, particularly those transitioning from traditional smoking, it is not suitable for children.

Promote informed choices

Encourage your children to think critically, assess the facts, and make informed decisions. Researching the topic of vaping together can help your child understand why adults choose to vape and the potential impact it can have on young people. Use reputable sources such as the NHS or Public Health England websites to explore accurate information.

Explain the potential risks

While vaping is widely considered less harmful than smoking, it's important to communicate the potential risks vaping poses to children and young adults:

Vulnerable respiratory systems: Inhaling vapour from e-cigarettes exposes young lungs to potentially harmful chemicals. Children's and teenagers' respiratory systems are still developing, making them more susceptible to damage.

Long-term health implications: Excessive vaping at a young age can cause inflammation and irritation in the airways, potentially leading to symptoms like wheezing or chronic coughing. Over time, this exposure can impair lung function and

increase the risk of developing long-term respiratory conditions such as bronchitis. Impaired immune responses: Children and adolescents who vape may also develop weakened immune responses, making it harder for their bodies to fight off common infections like colds and flu.

Maintain a balanced perspective

When educating your children about vaping, it’s important to be honest and transparent. Explain why adults choose to vape and how, in many cases, it can be a beneficial alternative to smoking:

Lower risk compared to smoking: Compared to smoking, vaping presents a significantly lower risk of harm. Public Health England supports vaping as a safer alternative to smoking.

Regulated nicotine intake: Vaping allows users to regulate their nicotine intake, helping them manage cravings effectively and gradually reduce their dependency on nicotine.

Support for quitting smoking: Vaping is a proven way to support people who are looking to quit smoking and can be an effective stepping-stone for those aiming to give up nicotine altogether.

What to do if you discover that your child is vaping

If you discover that your child is vaping, it's important to handle the situation with sensitivity and understanding. Show empathy and avoid harsh criticism to help them feel safe and supported, making it easier for them to be open and honest about their experiences:

Open and calm dialogue: Begin by engaging in a calm and open conversation. Listen closely to their reasons without jumping to conclusions or passing judgement.

Support and alternatives: Once you understand their motivations, provide supportive guidance on healthier alternatives. Discuss practical strategies to address the underlying reasons for their vaping, such as managing stress or peer pressure.

Seek professional help: If your child appears to be struggling with vaping or nicotine addiction, seek professional guidance. Healthcare professionals can offer specialised support and resources to help your child make healthier choices.

Salman Essap, Founder and CEO of Vape and Go commented on the issue: "Vaping's rising prevalence among youth cannot be ignored. Data from the UK and globally indicates a troubling increase in vaping among teenagers.

The 2022 NHS Digital survey reported that 9% of 11-15-yearolds

in England were using e-cigarettes. This trend is concerning, especially given the potential risks that vaping poses to children.

“As such, it's important to be vigilant as a parent and educate your child early so they can make informed, healthy choices and navigate any potential temptation to partake in vaping."

From initial concept to final design, we took time to listen, test and gather feedback to ensure the space reflects the evolving needs of the people who use it, creating a space that isn’t just fit for today but also for tomorrow. Every design decision - from layout to accessibility -has been considered through that lens. The result is a branch that reaffirms our long-term commitment to the high street and the community we’ve proudly served for over 175 years.”

Denis Tully, CEO at Emmanuel House, said: “I’m delighted that Nottingham Building Society has partnered with

Designed in collaboration with workplace design experts, Claremont, the space is the product of a consultative process shaped by customers, colleagues and the wider community. A series of targeted workshops — involving branch members, non-members and frontline colleagues — helped inform every design decision, from layout to materials.

Guide to children’s nutrition

In today’s world, where convenience foods are often within arm’s reach, it can be challenging for parents to ensure their children are eating nutritious, balanced meals.

Amie Leckie, Health and Wellbeing Specialist at Heart Research UK, says:

“Children can be quite picky, and dealing with a stubborn child who refuses to eat any vegetables can be a real challenge. However, making small, consistent changes in how we approach children’s diets can have lasting positive effects on their health, energy levels, and even behaviour. At the core of a healthy diet are three main principles: eating foods as close to their natural state as possible, limiting processed foods and eating balanced meals.”

PRIORITISING WHOLE FOODS

When we talk about whole foods, we mean foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. For example, a banana is a whole food and banana chips are a processed food; a potato is a whole food, but crisps, which are made from potatoes, are a processed food. Whole foods should be the foundation of children’s diets as they are full of essential nutrients, which are crucial for a child’s growth and development.

“Whole foods include fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, lean proteins, and healthy fats,” Amie explains. “Fruits and vegetables, for example, are full of antioxidants and vitamins like C and A, which support immune function and eye health. Wholegrains like oats, brown rice, and quinoa provide steady energy throughout the day and help maintain healthy digestion. Lean proteins, such as chicken, fish, eggs, and beans, contain vital building blocks for muscle and support cognitive function. Including healthy fats from avocados, nuts, seeds, yoghurt and olive oil is important as these fats support brain development and hormone production.” Childhood is a stage of rapid growth, and it is vitally important that we give their bodies what they need to grow properly. When children regularly eat whole foods, they get the nutrients they need to grow strong and stay healthy, while also developing their taste buds for healthy foods.

Limiting processed foods

Processed foods are foods that were once whole foods or a group of whole foods that have been modified somehow. When this happens, essential nutrients are lost and often, especially with pre-packed foods, ingredients have been added such as salt, sugar, sweeteners, flavourings and unhealthy fats. Processed foods are everywhere, and they often appeal to children due to their convenience, added flavours and eye-catching packaging. For parents, it can be hard to avoid these, especially as children get older and start noticing food products in the wider world, rather than just what is in their house. Processed foods include sugary cereals, crisps, fizzy drinks, fast food, ready meals,

packet noodles and packaged snacks. The added ingredients in these products can lead to overeating, energy crashes, and may increase the risk of childhood obesity, diabetes, and other long-term health issues, affecting children’s behaviour.

Amie explains: “The key to limiting processed foods lies in focusing on balance and moderation rather than completely banning them. It’s okay for kids to occasionally enjoy these foods, but parents should be mindful of how often these foods are part of daily meals. Try to cook as many meals as possible from scratch and limit your reliance on convenience foods. A helpful tip is to make healthier swaps where possible, such as offering water or milk instead of sugary drinks or opting for wholegrain crackers and natural peanut butter as a snack, rather than crisps and chocolate. Start with small swaps and layer them as the weeks go by, so it doesn’t upset your little one too much.”

Creating balanced meals

Thinking about offering balanced meals can help parents ensure they are providing nutrient-dense plates that will keep children nourished and full. A balanced plate typically consists of a variety of food groups such as vegetables and/or fruits, wholegrains, proteins and healthy fats.

“A good example of a balanced meal for a child could be baked homemade chicken goujons using whole wheat breadcrumbs, homemade sweet potato chips, steamed broccoli drizzled with a little olive oil, and a side of fresh fruit such as apple slices or melon wedges. This combination offers a range of nutrients, including protein, fibre, carbohydrates and healthy fats, which are essential for growth and energy. The combination of these foods will help keep children feeling fuller for longer and keep

Amie Leckie, Health and Wellbeing Specialist at Heart Research UK, explores how good nutrition is one of the most important building blocks for a child’s health and offers advice on how to support your child’s heart health.

their blood sugar stable, which means steady energy and fewer sugar cravings,” Amie says.

Encouraging kids to eat a variety of colours on their plate is a fun and effective way to ensure they are getting a variety of different vitamins and minerals. Different coloured fruits and vegetables contain different antioxidants and nutrients, so diversity is key. Fruits and vegetables are a great source of fibre, which helps keep the digestive system healthy. Heart Research UK has created a Rainbow Food Challenge to help encourage your children and yourself to try some new foods, so download your copy now.

Amie advises: “Parents can often feel a sense of failure if their children don’t eat what they make or try tactics to encourage children to eat by offering rewards and treats, which in the longterm don’t help establish healthy eating patterns. Parents cannot control what children will decide to eat on any given day, but they can, to some extent and at least in the home environment, control what foods are on offer, and lead by example and nourish ourselves with healthy food.”

Building healthy eating habits from a young age sets children up for a lifetime of good health, which includes heart health. By focusing on whole foods, limiting processed foods, and creating balanced meals, parents can provide the essential nutrients their children need to grow, thrive, and feel their best. It may take time and patience, but with consistent effort, the benefits of a nutritious diet will soon become clear in a child’s energy, mood, behaviour and overall wellbeing.

Home-Crafted Hanging Baskets

Home-Crafted Hanging Baskets

Colourful geraniums make great floating displays from spring to autumn when potted in hanging containers.

These vibrant summer stars show off their full splendour at eye level, creating vivid accents on balconies, patios and other parts of the house and garden. Dr Susanne Lux, plant styling expert at Pelargonium for Europe (PfE), offers a series of ingenious craft and upcycling ideas for hanging floral displays.

Top: Lush flowering geraniums in planters, a branch, macramé hanging baskets and sturdy string - that's all you need for this pretty handcrafted hanging arrangement. Tip: Geraniums will bloom non-stop from spring to autumn in a sunny spot. A place out of the rain and careful watering will prevent waterlogging.

Vintage Boho Basket

This vintage-style, boho hanging basket is quick and easy to make.

You will need three embroidery rings (two large and one small), light-coloured masking tape, twine, scissors, three wooden beads of different sizes, a patinated terracotta pot and a potted flowering geranium (a butterfly geranium is perfect as its small flowers won't hide the frame). We used two 30cm and one 13cm diameter ring, but you can vary the size. Make sure the proportions are correct so

the diameter of the smaller ring is about 1-2cm smaller than the upper diameter of the terracotta pot.

Step 1: Remove the inner ring from all three hoops. You won't need the outer rings with the screw for this project.

Step 2: Use the inner rings to create a sturdy three-dimensional base for the hanging basket. First join the two large wooden rings together with masking tape on one side. Then, on the opposite side, fit the smaller ring between the larger ones to create the pot holder.

Step 3: Cover all areas of masking tape with twine to hide it. To hang the basket, take another length of twine and loop it around the section where the large rings meet. Knot the free ends together. Thread the wooden beads on to the twine loop in order of size, largest first, so they sit on top of the rings.

Step 4: Place the potted geranium in the terracotta planter then place the planter

in the smaller ring. Hang up your finished hanging basket in a sunny spot.

Vintage Boho Basket

Upcycled geranium hanging baskets

With a little hessian, you can give an unsightly hanging basket a whole new look in no time. This contemporary, upcycled piece is the perfect showcase for bicoloured trailing geraniums. Tip: Drape the fabric loosely over the container and fix it in place with hot glue. Don't worry, any creases add to the effect.

Care tips for geraniums in hanging pots

Geraniums need plenty of sun and regular watering and fertilising to thrive and flower from spring to autumn. There are a few extra things to consider when caring for geraniums displayed this way. The perfect spot should be as sunny as possible and also sheltered from the wind.

For containers without drainage, make sure there is no standing water in the pot. In addition to a drainage layer and careful watering, a spot out of the rain is recommended. For containers with drainage, make sure dripping water doesn't leave marks on the floor or damage furniture.

Either hang the planter where the water can run off undisturbed, or place a drip tray underneath. Although hanging baskets are often made of plastic, which means little water evaporates from the sides, an exposed position dries out the

compost more quickly, so regular watering is important.

DIY Standing Planter

If you prefer something closer to the ground but still like to be creative and value sustainability, the basis for this modern planter is an empty tin can covered with natural wooden slats. This is a perfect home for the bright red, upright geranium and a great feature that can be placed anywhere this easy-care plant will get plenty of sunlight.

All you need is an empty tin can, natural wooden slats, waterproof black spray paint, a fine-toothed saw, a cutting guide/mitre box and a hot glue gun and hot glue sticks. A bright red geranium makes a lovely contrast to the natural colour of the upcycled tin.

Step 1: Using the mitre box, cut wooden slats to the height of your can. Next cut six longer strips to make the feet.

Step 2: Spray the inside and outside of the tin with the black spray paint. Leave to dry.

Step 3: Using the hot glue, attach the wooden strips close together on the tin until it is completely covered. Use two of the longer strips for each of the three feet of the planter.

Step 4: Place the planter in a sunny spot and put the geranium and its plant pot inside. That's it! Tip: A drainage layer of expanded clay or clay shards will protect the planter from moisture damage and prolong its life.

Making More Room

Converting your loft is a practical and rewarding way to create more space in your house. Whether you need an extra bedroom, a home office, a playroom, or simply more storage, a loft conversion can meet your needs while adding value to your property. Here are some steps and considerations to help you make the most of your loft conversion.

Assess Feasibility

Before you start, assess the feasibility of a loft conversion. Check the height, pitch, and structure of your roof. Ideally, you need a minimum head height of 2.2 meters to ensure the space is usable. Consult with a structural engineer to evaluate whether your roof structure can support the conversion.

Plan Your Space

Decide how you want to use the space. This will determine the design and layout. For a bedroom, you'll need space for a bed and storage. For an office, consider desk space and shelving. Sketch out a rough floor plan to visualize the space.

Structural Considerations

Reinforce the floor if necessary. Loft floors may need strengthening to support additional weight. Install appropriate insulation to make the space comfortable year-round. Proper insulation also helps in soundproofing and energy efficiency.

Lighting and Ventilation

Maximize natural light by installing skylights or dormer windows. These also provide ventilation, which is crucial for maintaining air quality. Plan for artificial lighting with a mix of ambient, task, and accent lights to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Access

Ensure safe and practical access to your loft. A staircase is the best option, but it needs to be carefully designed to fit within the existing structure. Spiral staircases or compact designs can save space.

Utilities

Consider the placement of utilities like heating, electricity, and plumbing. You may need to extend existing systems or install new ones. This is crucial if you're adding a bathroom or kitchenette.

Finishing Touches

Choose finishes and furnishings that complement the rest of your home. Use light colours to make the space feel larger and more open. Built-in storage solutions can maximize space and keep the area clutterfree.

Budget

Set a realistic budget and include a contingency for unexpected expenses. Loft conversions can be cost-effective compared to building extensions, but costs can vary depending on the complexity of the project.

Professional Help

Hiring professionals like architects, builders, and interior designers can ensure your loft conversion is done to a high standard. They can provide valuable advice and manage the project efficiently.

By converting your loft, you can effectively increase the living space in your home, making it more functional and enjoyable. Whether you're accommodating a growing family or creating a personal retreat, a loft conversion is a worthwhile investment.

Dress your bed for Summer

There's a new climate rhythm making itself known after dark, and we're calling it Lunar Drift. Coined to describe the overnight sway between summer heat and unexpected chill. Drift captures the moment when daytime warmth lingers long past sunset, only to disappear midsleep in a cold sweep of air.

The result? Restless nights, disrupted sleep, and that 3am scramble for another layer. This seasonal inbetweenness requires a new way of thinking, especially when it comes to your bed.

The luxury collection from Feather & Black offers breathable, natural fabrics and fibres, from pure cotton and hemp to natural wool, cashmere and bamboo. Natural materials wick away moisture, helping to regulate temperature and aid restful sleep, and layering cotton and wool offers the flexibility and comfort needed to sleep through both moods of the night.

Here's how Feather & Black suggests making the bed to ride the Drift:

Start with a base of 100% cotton. The Cotton Collection Ladder Stitch Set (£168) is

crafted from a crisp and cool 600-thread count. Naturally breathable and light, this set keeps you cool at bedtime, while layering beautifully when needed.

Layer with a flat sheet and lightweight duvet. The Luxury British Wool Duvet (£109) in a lighter 4.5 tog is perfect for changeable nights. Pure wool offers temperature regulating qualities, keeping you cool on hot evenings and offering

warmth when paired with a blanket.

Add one layer that's ready to grab at 3am, a folded throw (£29) or breathable blanket at the foot of the bed makes it simple to adjust without waking fully.

Because when the night can't decide on a season, your bed needs to do both!

Grow yo ur own tomato's

Whether you’re planning a bumper summer vegetable garden, or looking to grow your own on your kitchen windowsill Dobbies Garden Centres is giving gardeners advice on how they can enjoy homegrown tomatoes throughout the summer months.

Dobbies’ Plant Buyer, Nigel Lawton talks through his tips on growing tomatoes and how to get the most from your tomato plants this year.

Where to grow

While most tomato varieties perform best in a greenhouse or conservatory, there are varieties that are suited to growing outdoors in beds, on patios or balconies, or even on a warm sunny windowsill. Nigel notes that choosing the right variety for your growing space is key to a successful harvest and you can explore a wide range of varieties at your local Dobbies.

Varieties to grow

Nigel notes that tomatoes are a rewarding grow-your-own choice for gardeners of all experience levels. For beginners, patio or hanging basket varieties can be an ideal starting point and are great for smaller spaces. It is important to remember though that all tomatoes require regular watering, feeding, and some training depending on how you choose to grow them.

If you’re short on space, Nigel says tomatoes do well in containers and can be grown on a sunny balcony or patio. To ensure healthy growth, use a large pot and fill it with some crocks at the bottom for drainage. Then, fill the pot with a good quality peat-free compost and plant your tomatoes using a hand trowel. Place the container in a sunny spot and you can enjoy tomatoes in as little as a few months.

with Dobbies'

‘pick and enjoy’ tomatoes so you can enjoy sweet cherry tomatoes from your windowsill with minimal fuss. Just be sure to water and feed them regularly, and if the weather warms up, you can also move them outside to a balcony or patio.

Looking after your tomato plants

Nigel says that while growing tomatoes is rewarding, proper care is essential for healthy plants and a good crop.

• Water regularly, early morning or late afternoon is best, making sure the soil stays consistently moist – tomato plants should never be allowed to dry out.

• If you’re growing tall varieties, you should support them with bamboo canes and pinch out the side shoots to focus the energy on fruit.

When to harvest

Your tomatoes will be ready to pick between July and October but if you’re not sure when to harvest, Nigel recommends letting the colour be your guide. When they’re rich in colour and pull away easily from the plant, they’re ripe and ready.

If you’re looking to grow tomatoes indoors, Nigel suggests picking up a Pick-N-Joy tomato plant from your local Dobbies. These plants come ready with

Here are his top tips:

•Start feeding with tomato fertiliser once the first trusses start to set.

Greenwood Community Forest in the heart of Nottinghamshire

In the centre of Mansfield Woodhouse and extending east to the Trent, the Greenwood Community Forest stands as a testament to collective action and environmental stewardship.

A collaboration between Nottinghamshire County Council and local authorities, with other partners including the Forestry Commission, the Woodland Trust, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, the Sherwood Forest Trust, as well as the numerous ‘Friends of’ greenspaces in the area. Together we are transforming the landscape and fostering a deeper connection between communities and nature.

Greenwood Community Forest delivers the Trees for Climate grants, a multimillion-pound woodland creation programme, funded through the Defra’s Nature for Climate Fund.

In Nottinghamshire more than 757,000 trees have been planted on 577 hectares since 2020. It is estimated that each tree can capture up to 150kg of carbon per year (link open to the source of the statistics at the UN); the 757,000 trees planted can expect to capture up to 113,550 metric tons of carbon annually - that’s equivalent to almost 13 million petrol driven car journeys of 50 miles each - helping to improve air quality and

overall quality of life.

Beyond carbon capture, these woodlands offer recreational spaces for residents. Projects like the one at Thorney Abbey Farm near Southwell, where 86,775 native trees have been planted with the support and help of students from Nottingham Trent University and volunteers, exemplify the community's role in environmental restoration. Such initiatives also promote mental and physical well-being by providing accessible green spaces. We work with private as well as public landowners to create the green spaces that will enhance local biodiversity, improve soil and water quality, so advancing crop production and benefitting wildlife for generations to come. Our professional team will listen to your needs, assist in designing the woodland, source all the resources needed

including labour for finally planting the trees.

Greenwood Community Forest is more than just a collection of trees; it is a living legacy of environmental commitment and community collaboration. As these woodlands mature, they will stand as enduring symbols of collective effort towards a greener, more sustainable future.

Since then, they have enjoyed a growing reputation for excellent service and competitive pricing. To enhance their service capacity we have opened branches in Clifton, Carlton and now Bingham, to allow us to serve the wider Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas.

We can arrange all aspects of a funeral and offers each type of service from direct cremation to bespoke funeral services. Each branch is staffed by empathetic and understanding people who will listen to your requirements and help with every aspect of the funeral arrangements. Each branch has a private arranging room and chapel of rest.

We can also offer a dark blue hearse and two matching 7 seat limousines, allowing family members to travel together to the funeral service. Our staff are always on hand to help and advice with all your funeral arrangements.

We solely manage and maintain Hollygate memorial woodlands, situated on Hollygate Lane to the north east of Cotgrave. The woods were planted in 2011 as a conservation woodland to promote the

conservation and reintroduction of birds into this area by planting a variety of native broadleaved species. The planting is naturalistic with open unplanted rides giving access to the 5 separate woods and spinnies. There is an active management scheme in place to help with the establishment of the trees. The company are actively planting more species such as pollen rich plants in the open ride areas to enhance insect life to further encourage all types of bird. Some areas will be left more natural to further help the insects and small animals.

There is a water source at the bottom of the woods, the Grantham canal, which has a large population of amphibious creatures and water based insects to further enhance the wildlife populations. We offer you the opportunity to choose a specific tree and have it as your own growing memorial to the departed loved one. The woods are private but by leasing a tree you also have the right to enter any time and walk or sit in the quiet of the woodlands.

There are many species of trees and shrubs that you can choose as a living memorial for your loved one, including mighty Oaks, flowering Cherry, Ash, Willow, Silver Birch and fruiting Hawthorne or festive Holly. Alternatively, you can choose a family plot where up to 6 cremated remains can be interred around a single tree. We also have supplies of native woodland plants, sourced from sustainable sites, that can be planted around the memorial sites.

Alternatively, we do offer full burial plots if cremation is not an option for you. We can supply coffins, caskets, urns and pouches made from natural and biodegradable materials for the interment of remains, to ensure the woodlands continue to develop into a natural environment.

Care in the Community

LINCS & NOTTS AIR AMBULANCE

The

Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance Charity

is gearing up to save more

lives

than

ever with the addition of a second helicopter.

The charity, which saves lives across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire has secured a spot on the production line in Italy for a new helicopter at a cost of around £7m. LNAA currently operates with one helicopter, its iconic yellow AW169. But as mission numbers rise, the doctors, paramedics and pilots who respond to an average of four missions a day, know that there are patients they can’t currently get to.

Medical Director Dr Gareth Davies said: “We want to bring our skill and experience to the side of more patients, more quickly, and across a wider area. A second aircraft is a game-changer for these patients and for us as we expand what we can do to meet the needs of the communities that we serve.”

The charity is completely funded by donations and the project has taken flight thanks to initial fundraising efforts which have raised £4m.

The Michael Cornish Charitable Trust and BNA Charitable Incorporated Organisation have each given £1m towards the second helicopter. The Jones 1986 Charitable Trust and Nottingham based company Experian have also made generous contributions to the project, along with LNAA contributing thanks to its fundraising efforts.

Michael Cornish said: “Our charitable trust has existed to help charities who have a

tangible, positive impact on communities, including saving lives. LNAA does this 365 days of the year, across a vast area, so it fits entirely with our vision. We are excited to be part of something that will unquestionably help to save lives.”

A spokesperson for BNA said: “BNA have been a major contributor over the years and are pleased to have generously donated to this important strengthening of LNAA’s cover of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.”

A spokesperson for The Jones 1986 Charitable Trust said: “The Trust has been a major supporter of the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance over the years because we know how important the charity is in being able to deliver life-saving care on the scene. We're pleased that we have been able to make a sizeable donation to help ensure that LNAA can get to more patients across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire”.

The plan for a second helicopter emerged after data gathered by the charity showed there are people in need who the service cannot get to with just one aircraft. In the last five years, the charity has seen a 135 percent increase in mission numbers and recent data has shown that there’s an average of 1.4 missions every day the crews are not able to currently respond to. The second helicopter will be an AW109 Grand New model and is scheduled to land at the charity in summer 2027 with a view to being fully operational by autumn that year.

LNAA’s CEO Karen Jobling said: “We are absolutely delighted to share this incredible news with our supporters. The addition of a second helicopter means that we will be able to attend more emergencies, more quickly, and provide critical care to more patients who might not otherwise have access in time. This is truly a life-changing development for the communities we are here to serve.

“Every life we save is a thanks to the people who support LNAA. The second helicopter will belong to everyone who has ever donated, fundraised, or supported us in any way. It will save many more lives, and we could not achieve this without them.”

Urgent plea for ‘missing’ donors

Thousands of ‘missing’ blood donors in the East Midlands are being urgently called on as the NHS warns that supplies of O negative are critically low.

• N HS plea to find 4,000 ‘missing’ O neg donors in the region who haven’t donated in the past year

• New NHS tracker shows daily appointment slots in donor centres to make on the day booking easier than ever

• Four bank holidays and two school breaks in just six weeks have led to critically low blood stocks

• O negative blood can be given to anyone – making it vital in emergencies

NHS Blood and Transplant has revealed there are 4,041 donors in the region with the vital O negative blood type whose last donation was more than 12 months ago.

It is calling on these donors to come forward urgently to help the NHS in England rebuild supplies after a combination of factors have left this crucial blood type under particular pressure.

Four bank holidays, the Easter holidays and half term break all falling within a six-week period have made maintaining steady stocks particularly challenging. Blood donations often drop over bank holiday weekends and holiday periods when people are busy and forget to donate.

England remains in Amber alert for low stocks of O type blood and it is critical that enough donors come forward now to stabilise supplies and ensure patients receive the treatments they need.

Gerry Gogarty, Director of Blood Supply for NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “Our ‘missing’ O negative donors

in the East Midlands have the power to relieve the pressure on supplies of this vital blood type.

“If you are O negative and haven’t given blood in a while, please book an appointment to donate today. Don’t hesitate - patients need you now.

“Our fixed donor centres generally have the best availability. If you can’t find an appointment straight away please book further ahead or keep checking back to help fill last minute appointments or cancellations. Every donation makes a critical difference.”

While community donation sessions in places like church halls are generally well filled, the donor centres in Leicester and Nottingham have good availability. Donors are especially needed to fill slots during the quieter weekday morning and afternoon sessions.

Daily appointment availability for donor centres with more than 10

slots that day is now published each morning at donor centre appointment tracker to make it easier for donors to book an immediate appointment. O negative is the universal type that can be given safely given to anyone, making it a lifeline in emergencies. Just eight per cent of the population have O negative blood but it makes up around 16 per cent of hospital orders.

Hospitals across England need more than 5,000 blood donations every day to ensure they have the blood they need to treat patients for a wide variety of reasons, including traumatic injuries or accidents, cancer treatments, sickle cell and childbirth. However, blood has a shelf life of 35 days so it is vital stocks are constantly replenished.

Donating a unit of blood takes just an hour and each donation can save up to three lives. Men can give blood every three months and women every four months.

Bereavement can leave people feeling sad, lost, and sometimes confused, but an appropriate funeral and memorial can bring great comfort and peace. At the Willows Natural Burial Ground, the tranquil surroundings of wildflower meadows, woodland, and ponds can provide great solace for those left behind as they remember the person or people they have lost.

The Willows is a 10-acre family-owned natural burial site near South Croxton, with commanding views of the Charnwood countryside, where people can be buried in hand dug graves in eco-friendly coffins or caskets, made of biodegradable materials such as cardboard, willow, wool or banana leaf to name a few. Conversely, their ashes can be buried or subsurface scattered, either in bio-degradable urns or simply poured into or onto the ground.

A range of commemorative memorials are available, made of natural materials such as Welsh slate, and wood, while many people choose to remember their loved ones by planting a tree or native rose bush.

Owners Chris and Jenny Scroby and their family, have been transforming the bare fields with extensive tree and bulb planting since opening in 2011, inviting families of the

buried or pre-purchased plots, to join in at planting weekends. They recently purchased another 3,750 native British bluebell, snowdrop and daffodil bulbs, whilst simultaneously raising money for local charities.

The Willows caters for people of all faiths or no faith. The site can accommodate graveside funerals or act solely as a burial site after a service elsewhere. If families do have a service on site, their fee includes provision of a small pop-up shelter, with limited seating and soft drinks for those attending.

The natural burial option is a cost-effective alternative to a traditional cemetery burial or cremation. Chris and Jenny work with the family’s chosen funeral directors to ensure everything goes smoothly, whilst respecting the parameters set out to protect and promote the site as a natural, wildlife friendly environment.

Chris says: “We’re very pleased with our progress, which we see as our contribution in giving something back to nature and the environment.”
