New Student Guide
Arrival at KLIA
Please check that your passport has been endorsed with a Special Pass (SP) and your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) has been approved by the Malaysian Immigration Department.
Arrival on Campus
1. Accommodation
Check-in to your home away from home: On-Campus - Make your way to the Accommodation office at Radius (Block J) or Tioman Hall (Block I) for check-in and room key collection. Off-Campus - Check in to your preferred private accommodation and get settled in.
2. Post-Arrival Medical Check-Up (For International Students only)
Proceed to the International Students Support (ISS) office at HB11 (Block H, Level B) to seek assistance, register and complete your post-arrival medical check-up at the campus clinic. This is compulsory to complete within 7 days of your arrival in Malaysia and it is recommended to complete this on the second day after arriving on campus.
Book your appointment at least 3 working days in advance by emailing the campus clinic at: kmnu@qualitas.com.my.
3. Malaysia Student Pass Visa (For International Students only)
Submit your passport to the UNM Visa Office (Student Services Centre, Block H, SA Building) once you have completed your Post-Arrival Medical Check-Up to obtain the student pass (visa) issuance.
4. Tuition Fee Payment
Make your tuition fee payment to the UNM Finance Office (Student Services Centre, Block H, SA Building). You also have the option to pay your tuition fee in advance before you arrive on campus. Scan the QR code for guidelines on how you can pay your tuition fees.
5. Student Registration
All new students (Malaysian & International students) are required to register at the Student Registry Office (Trent Building).
Registration for New and Progressing Students
Students are required to complete an online registration as soon as the task becomes available on their NottinghamHub account. Detailed information on how to complete it will be sent to their personal email address in 3 working days, after their application status in NottinghamHub appears as “Matriculation”.
After completing the online registration and paying the relevant tuition fees, students are required to confirm their attendance in person with the Student Registry Team within the registration period. This step is necessary to authenticate your identity as the genuine registrant of the programme.

To ensure a smooth process, please take note of the following:
Full-time Domestic Students
We kindly request that you confirm your attendance in person with the Student Registry Team during the induction or registration period. After receiving your signed registration form, the team will contact you via email with additional information on completing this step.
Part-time Domestic Students
The Student Registry Team will be in touch to schedule a personal video call with you. During this call, a university staff member will verify your identity. After receiving your signed registration form, the team will reach out to you via email with additional information about completing this step.
International Students
If you are an international student requiring a valid Student Pass to study, you will need to come to the Student Registry Office at UNM, Semenyih Campus in person upon your arrival to sign the registration form and complete the registration process. The office opening hours for the Student Registry are from 9.30am-5:00pm, Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays).

All new international students are advised to visit the International Student Support Office (ISS) the next working day after their arrival in Malaysia to receive a briefing on post medical and banking related matters. ISS is located at (HB11, Block H, SA Building).
Register/activate your UNM email address and IT Services facilities to access everything you need to stay connected.
7. The Library and Learning Spaces
Our conducive and purpose-built spaces dedicated to all your study, resource, and educational needs, providing comprehensive support to all students.
8. Student ID Collection
Collect your UNM Student ID at the Security Office (HB12, Block H, SA Building) from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)
9. Inductions
Central administration and faculty induction sessions will be held before your classes begin. The Student Registry Team will be sending you the induction schedule as soon as it becomes available. Check your email inbox regularly for updates on the schedule
10. Registration Modules and Class Timetables

During your faculty induction, there will be a briefing on the class timetable. If you have any further questions about your class timetable, we kindly encourage you to visit your faculty office for clarification.
Course/Module Enrolment
Students (excluding PGR) will have a two-week window (beginning from the week classes commence) to add or drop optional courses/modules via the Optional Course Enrolment (OCE) page on your NottinghamHub. The Course Enrolment team will notify students via email when this enrolment exercise begins. In the event that you encounter any difficulties accessing the OCE page, submitting your course enrolment successfully, or any other issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your respective school administrators:

Gather with friends at nearby malls or venture further to explore Malaysia’s numerous holiday destinations perfect for student adventures.
Ecohill Semenyih
Ecohill Semenyih includes a mall and also an outdoor area. Shop, eat, buy your groceries and take a leisurely stroll to unwind from your studies here.
IOI City Mall
Touted as one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia, there is a wide range of activities to do here such as ice skating, karaoke, bowling, roller skating and an action park. Most of these places also offer student discounts, which makes it the perfect activity for a day out!
Bukit Bintang
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, visit shopping malls such as Pavillion KL and Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) plus a thriving food and nightlife scene. Take the UNM shuttle bus to KLTC (the Kuala Lumpur Teaching Centre) which is just a 15-minute walk to Bukit Bintang.
Genting Highlands
Head to the highlands, located 1 hour away by car, known for this cool weather. Take a day trip and enjoy a scenic cable car ride, zipline, theme park and waterpark, a shopping mall and more! Admire the breathtaking view when you are at the top and don’t forget to bring some warmer clothing.
Hidden Gems of Malaysia
Visit local beaches such as Port Dickson, about 1 hour away by car or Kuantan, which takes approximately 3 hours by car. Alternatively, take a road trip to Malacca, known for its Peranakan heritage or Penang, famous for mouthwatering street food and Batu Ferringhi beach.
Relaxing Spots and Parks
Broga Hill
This popular hiking spot is a must-visit for outdoor lovers and avid hikers. Conquer the three main peaks, an adventure that takes approximately 1 hour to ascend to the highest point. Enjoy a panoramic view of its verdant valley landscape amidst a stunning sunrise.
Setia Ecohill Park
Located 5.5km from campus, enjoy its tranquil surroundings and take a leisurely walk or picnic here. Enjoy the captivating view of the city from here too.
Eco Majestic 1 Lake Park
Located approximately 8km from campus, this park boasts a stunning lake surrounded by picturesque gazebos. It’s the perfect spot to unwind with friends and immerse yourself in the serene and relaxing environment.
