Student Quotes
What our students say Hear what our international students say about studying at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
I chose the University of Nottingham Malaysia due to its acclaimed status of providing quality education and as being one of the best in the region. One of the things I enjoy most about the University is the diversity. I have made many friends who are helpful and supported me settle in when I first arrived. It has been an eye-opening experience to meet people from different places and backgrounds. Studying at the University has also changed my perspective of future career possibilities. Initially, I had a very narrow vision of what my career would be like once I graduated but my interaction with lecturers and experience on campus has shown me that anything is possible.
Mohammad Abdallah, Kenya MEng Electrical and Electronics Engineering
I chose to study at the University of Nottingham due to the School of Pharmacy being ranked in the top 10 worldwide. I have always been interested in South East Asia so to gain a British degree while discovering a new part of the world is a dream come true for me. My parents are also happy as they like Malaysia for many reasons. As a final year student, I have learned a lot and enjoyed every moment of my three years here in Malaysia. The modules are diverse and we are constantly learning new things. In general, my course prepared me to understand drugs and their components along with how to produce them. It has taught me how to use advanced technology and what materials or components to use to minimise the side effects in humans. The staff, be it the lecturers or lab technicians are friendly and always have a smile on their face, it is always fun to communicate with them.
I graduated with an MPharm from University of Nottingham Malaysia in 2020 and am currently halfway through my pre-registration training in the UK. What I liked most about the 2+2 MPharm course was the opportunity to study at two campuses, in both Malaysia and the UK! I found the lecturers from both campuses were knowledgeable, friendly, approachable and supportive. The course focused on drug development, pharmacology, medicine formulation and delivery thus providing students with an opportunity to consider research as a future career as well as becoming a pharmacist.
Layan Elbehairy, Egypt
Yeonwoo Jee, South Korea
BSc Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences
MPharm (Master of Pharmacy)
University of Nottingham Malaysia was one of the few universities I found offering Environmental Sciences. What I liked most about the course was the multidisciplinary approach where it covered all aspect of environmental sciences and was not limited to just one specific field. In terms of cost, I found the tuition fees and cost of living in Malaysia to be affordable on a student budget.
Kei Konishi, Japan BSc Environmental Sciences

The degree was an eclectic course that exceeded all my expectations and opened up several doors for me. During my time as an undergraduate, I had the opportunity of being selected and sponsored for international events such Wilton Park Forum in Thailand, UNESCO World Press Freedom Conference in Indonesia and International Student Summit in the UK. The education I received at UNM was certainly an international experience that transcended the boundaries of classroom walls. The knowledge I gained enabled me to successfully secure a position of a political analyst upon graduation at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. With the continued support and guidance of the School of Media Language and Culture, I have grown to feel that the world is ripe with opportunities, and I have the skills to pluck them and make an impact.
