Tonight we are blessed to have two students speak about their faith journey at Notre Dame. Our first speaker has a twin, Elyza, along with her twin, first joined the Notre Dame community at the beginning of her Junior year. Her impact on the faith life at Notre Dame was immediately felt with her vibrant personality that is rooted in the love of Christ. She is a regular attendee at morning mass and weekly adoration. She has a younger sibling Arianna that will hopefully someday be a Titan Elyza will be attending Ave Maria University in the fall majoring in Nursing in hopes of becoming a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit nurse. She was also played tennis team and was a vital member of the Gardening Club.
Our second speaker, Nicholas Kendall, has been an integral part in making Notre Dame’s student and faith life flourish. He has demonstrated his leadership skills through his service is on the Associated Student Body’s Executive Council along with heightening the concessions experience at the school’s theatrical performances. Nicholas has served the Notre Dame community through Key Club, Peer Ministry, the school’s podcast Notre Dame Now and has been played Varsity Water Polo and was the team captain the Boy’s Varsity Swim team. First Reading: Acts 20:17-27
While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior of the country and down to Ephesus where he found some disciples. He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?" They answered him, "We have never even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." He said, "How were you baptized?" They replied, "With the baptism of John." Paul then said, "John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus. "When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. Altogether there were about twelve men. He entered the synagogue, and for three months debated boldly with persuasive arguments about the Kingdom of God.
The Word of the Lord.
Responsorial Psalm:Psalm 68:10-11, 20-21
R. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the Earth
Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you, just as you gave him authority over all people, so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him. Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.
Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world began.
“I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.
I pray for them.
I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them.
And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, while I am coming to you.”
Verse (1)
For a while there, it was rough
But lately, I've been doin' better Than the last four cold Decembers I recall And I see my family every month I found a girl my parents love She'll come and stay the night, and I think I might have it all
And I thank God every day
For the girl He sent my way
But I know the things He gives me, He can take away And I hold you every night
And that's a feeling I wanna get used to But there's no man as terrified as the man who stands to lose you
Pre-Chorus]
Oh, I hope I don't losе you Mm, please stay
I want you, I need you, oh God
Don't take
Thеse beautiful things that I've got [Chorus]
Please stay
I want you, I need you, oh God
Don't take
These beautiful things that I've got [Post-Chorus] Oh, ooh
Please don't take
[Verse 2]
I found my mind, I'm feelin' sane It's been a while, but I'm finding my faith If everything's good and it's great, why do I sit and wait 'til it's gone?
Oh, I'll tell ya, I know I've got enough I've got peace and I've got love But I'm up at night thinkin' I just might lose it all
[Chorus]
Please stay I want you, I need you, oh God Don't take These beautiful things that I've got
Communion #1 “Taste and See”
by James E. Moore
Refrain:
Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Oh, taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord, of the Lord.
1 I will bless the Lord at all times. Praise shall always be on my lips; my soul shall glory in the Lord; for God has been so good to me. (Refrain)
2 Glorify the Lord with me.
Together let us all praise God's name. I called the Lord, who answered me; from all my troubles I was set free. (Refrain)
3 Worship the Lord, all you people. You’ll want for nothing if you ask.
Taste and see that the Lord is good; in God we need put all our trust. (Refrain)
We are returning
To the place we've always belonged
Right here with You
Take me back to the garden
Lead me be back to moment I heard Your voice
Take me back to communion
Lead me back to the moment I saw Your face
And it was all so simple
It was easy to love
No space between us
It was easy to trust
'Cause You are closer, closer than my skin
And You are in the air I'm breathing in (yes, You are)
And here's where the dead things come back to living I feel my heart beating again
It feels so good to know You are my friend
And this is the garden
Here in the place I find You close
This is communion
Here in the place I'm fully known
And it was all so simple
You're so easy to love
And no space between us
You're so easy to trust
'Cause You are closer, closer than my skin (yes, You are)
And You are in the air I'm breathing in
And Here's where the dead things come back to living I feel my heart beating again
It feels so good to know You are my friend
My friend, my friend, yeah (oh-oh)
Mmh, it's where I'm meant to be
Me In You, yeah, yeah
This is where I'm meant to be Me in You, and You in me
I don't have to prove a thing You've already approved of me (this is where)
This is where I'm meant to be Me in You, and You in me
And I don't have to prove a thing (I don't)
You've already approved of me
'Cause this is where I'm meant to be Me in You, and You in me (and I don't have to)
I don't have to prove a thing
You've already approved of me (this is where)
This is where I'm meant to be Me in You, and You in me
And I don't have to prove a thing
You've already approved of me
'Cause You are closer, closer than my skin You are in the air I'm breathing in
Here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again It feels so good to know You are my friend
There's nothing like Your friendship
There's nothing like this friendship with You, with You, with You
We are returning We are returning To the desire of Your heart
We are returning
We are returning We are returning
To the desire of Your heart, yes we are
We are returning (woah)
We are returning (we're coming back home)
We are returning (woah)
We are returning (oh, just sing it again) (woah)
We are returning (oh, we're coming after You, oh)
We are returning (here's my heart, God)
We are returning (oh, and we'll never look back)
We are returning
We are returning (we're coming back to You)
We are returning (here's my heart, God)
We are returning
We are returning (here's where the dead things)
'Cause here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again (here's where the dead things)
Here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again
Here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again
It feels so good to know You are my friend
Mm-mm
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yes, I didn't know that I could have a friend like You
I didn't know I could have a friend like You
So good, You're so good
I didn't know I could have a friend like You
Closer than a brother, closer than a brother
I didn't know I could have a friend like You
I didn't think that I deserved it
I didn't know I could have a friend like You
You keep blowing me away
I didn't know I could have a friend like You (just the voices, one more time)
I didn't know I could have a friend like You Cause You are closer, closer than my skin And You are in the air I'm breathing in
And here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again
It feels so good to know You are my friend
What a friend we have in Jesus (Somebody better sing it out next time) (Ay, we're still rollin')
Sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
O what peace we often for it
And O what needless pain we bear It's all because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
I didn't know that I could have a friend like You I didn't know that I could have a friend like You (One who holds me close in shame, oh, I I didn't know that I could have a friend like You (One who's a better friend than I could ever be, oh-oh)
I didn't know that I could have a friend like You (here's where)
And here's where the dead things come back to living I feel my heart beating again (it's coming alive now)
Here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again (I'm not numb anymore)
Here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again (here's where)
Here's where the dead things come back to living
I feel my heart beating again (it feels so good, sing) It feels so good to know You are my friend.
