CHARM CITY GALA NDP

A L E T T E R FRO M SI STER March 30, 2019 Dear Friends, Welcome to Notre Dame Preparatory School’s Charm City Gala! We hope you are enjoying your evening as we raise all-important funds for our school. Notre Dame Preparatory School and Baltimore have a special connection. The School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND), NDP’s founding order, first came to the City in 1847. Twenty-six years later, they established our school, then named “Notre Dame of Maryland,” on Charles Street, the site of the current Notre Dame of Maryland University. Time has brought changes to Notre Dame—a new campus, expanded academic and extracurricular offerings, state-of-the-art technology, to name a few. However, NDP’s commitment to educating loving, just, and wise young women has remained constant. Rigorous academics rooted in the liberal arts prepares students for college and beyond. Rich spirituality allows each young woman to explore and deepen her faith. Direct service illustrates how through relationships, we can change and improve the world and be changed for the better. Authentic sisterhood develops through shared experiences and cherished traditions. A constant undercurrent is the SSNDs’ belief that through education, individuals can transform and, in turn, they can transform the world. Notre Dame Prep is rooted in tradition and contemporary in education. Some of our greatest traditions are our community gatherings—liturgies, prayer services, assemblies, plays, concerts, and of course, graduation. We are blessed to have an auditorium on campus that can accommodate every member of the community! However, the time has come for this beloved space to improve. Thanks to this wonderful Gala, we will be replacing the auditorium chairs, which will not only offer greater comfort to visitors, but also elevate the look of this vitally important gathering area. I would like to thank those individuals who helped to make this Gala successful, including our sponsors for their outstanding support and our dedicated volunteers for their leadership. Thank you to: our Auction Chair Vittoria Acevedo; Decoration Co-Chairs Carolyn Mosher Reeder ’80 and Sam Miller; Volunteer Chair Rochelle Brown; and Basket Making Coordinators Paula Campbell and Marjorie Parker. Special thanks is given to the Advancement Office staff for their tireless work for the Gala, and especially to Colleen Ferguson Driscoll ’87, our events manager, whose loving attention to all aspects of this event ensured that everyone here feels the charm of “Charm City.” Thank you for sharing this evening with us and for showing your support of Notre Dame, its mission, and, most importantly, the students of today and tomorrow. I am thrilled you chose to visit Charm City this evening! In Notre Dame,

Sister Patricia McCarron, SSND, Ph.D. Headmistress

THE CANNELLA CREW & FAMILY CONGRATULATE NDP ON ANOTHER GREAT GALA! NOEMI ’21 GOD’S BLESSING by Rose Tanyi The precious gifts which I cannot hold Are far greater than rubies or gold. Eyes to gaze at all you’ve given me Hands to graze at all the beauty I see. Legs to take me where I please A heart to love with scope to ease. Arms to clasp my children so tight A mind to know what is wrong or right. Ears to listen to God’s word spoken And lips to heal hearts that are broken. I find myself most truly blest

Congratulations Charlotte and the Class of 2019!

For Lord you’ve given me the very best.
