Josef Cardinal Beran He came from Prague, Czechoslavkia° In stature he was a short man who moved with a Spirit of energy and kindness. His life

portrays constant patience, great love, fierce mental and physical pain.

For two and a half years he was known as No. 3584-14 at Dachau instead of Archbishop

Beran. From 1951—1956 his whereabouts were

unknown except to his Communist captors.

Since the Council he is known as Josef Cardinal Beran, Prince of the Church.

Sr. Josepha's declining years are made happier by the blessing of Cardinal Beran.

If one can grow in sanctity, remainaShepherd of souls in the midst of hell and suffering, then he is much more than a man. He is Christ——the Christ of Suffering and great love. For a day, Christ was tangible and ViSIble tO us,

Sizzle! Sizzle! "Sorry 'bout that, Joyce," says Connie Kudlacek as she scorches Joyce Micek's hair. Up on third floor this year a burning odor can often be detected coming from the lounge as the resident students iron each other's hair.

The resident freshies have really made Notre Dame their home. Cathy Marasco, Cathy Murray, Sheila Delanty, and Connie Lorenz hold a jam session in the "neatness"and comfort of their alcoves.

Sounds of rustling paper and squeaking chairs seeps through the door of the little study room on third floor as residents burn the midnight oil. "Smile you're on candid camera, girlies," laughs Irene Kridelbaugh to Agnes Strenger, Cathie Lee, and Peggy Larkin.

"Where's my towel?“ exclaims Lill Flock as she gets ready for bed hurrying desperately to beat the 9:30 bell.

Notre Dame girls helped children from the Madonna School make Thanksgiving favors for the elderly. Cindy Pfeifer was among those who made it possible for the handicapped to realize the satisfaction of doing for others.

Enjoying themselves as part of the cast for ”The Soft-Hearted Ghost" are Eileen Gredys and Kate Kerwin. The play was given for the girls at the Good Shepherd Home.

Besides entertaining at St. Vincent's Home, Vet's Hospital,

and Good Shepherd's helping the children at Madonna School, filling a Red Cross chest, entering an International Art contest, donating toys, and learning first—aid and home nursing, Red Cross members frequently volunteered their help.
