From the social studies classes come academettes who have developed wholesome attitudes and skills, so much needed in America today. The large numbers in the sociology, government, and civics classes show that the modern student does realize that she is living in an age of great opportunity, yet also an age of great responsibility. Polkas, waltzes, marches, and overtures compose their repertoire. Junior Officials for County Government Day All the experiences that go to make County Government Day, from filing for an office through campaigning, readying the polls, voting, to determining the election results prove to the juniors the significance of the maxim: "Education that leads to action is best". Through it students are taught what makes county government "click" and are prepared for adult citizenship. Syrian Delegates to UN Mock Meet For eight consecutive years the MEET to stimulate high school

Duchesne College International Relations Club has conducted a UN MOCK students' interest in foreign affairs. Annually this Meet attracts more enthusi— astic participants at Notre Dame than any other co—curricular activity. Delegates from the Govermnent class welcome the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of world affairs and to develop talents for future leader— ship. The sodality officers for 1956—57 initiated the reorganization of the Notre Dame into a select group patterned on the Holy Father's ideal. In his Apostolic Constitution, Pope Pius XIIsodality challenges sodalists to attain to the greatest possible holiness and to possess a life radiating the powers of personal fervor and apostolic zeal. With evident joy of accomplishment the officers plan another interest—packed weekly meet— ings. They are: Corresponding Secretary Jeanette Vrbas, Treasurer Mary Ellen Spencer, Vice Prefect Mary Jo Stanek, Recording Secretary Helen Uher, and Prefect Kathleen Opitz.

Week after week the minutes of meetings testify to the remarkable record of vigorous activity promoted by the sodality.

Noteworthy are the gift wrapping of 487 packages of sweets for the Indians, Operation Prayer Lift, holy hour of reparation each first Friday, the Marriage Symposium, the Bible Workshop,Sodality Union Congress, and Faculty Recognition Day.

Twenty—seven resident students compose the Thimble Theater, a hobby club, to whom Sister Mary Consolata, moderator, teaches all types of handwork. "What's My Line", an April assembly, enacted by the junior sociology class, proved that NDA girls have a wide knowledge of the men who lead the country. Costumed to represent state and national officials, the juniors gave little —known facts about themselves and asked, "Who am 1?”, but the seniors, sophomores, and freshmen were q " to catch the clues and identify the speaker. Just to get a break from the tedious hours of embroidering, textile painters Carolyn Coslett and Christine Humpal dip their magic wands in color to produce smart designs for every purpose, to appeal to every taste. Under their careful workmanship plain towels, scarfs, pillowcases, aprons, and bandanas are made smartly different. They made their designs from transfer patterns and added a few creations of their own. Something new has been added in the academy audi— torium to gratify tingling toes. Since December 12 a colorful 48-disc Wurlitzer ju.ke box provides music and merriment during lunch hours and recreations. Mrs. Charles Johnson, alumnae president, oringiated the suggestion to procure a substitute for the record player and to relieve the disc jockeys. Assisting Mrs. Johnson '32 in contacting dealers and making arrangements were Miss Agnes Kotera '35 and Mrs. Joseph Gulizia.

Friends of Notre Dame Loyalty, untiring selflessness, and devotion to duty characterize the 1956-57 officers of the Friends of Notre Dame. In addition to shouldering the responsibility of a courthouse bazaar, rumage sale, and mission benefit, they led Notre Dame's bene— factors in an amazingly successful card party to boost the academy improvement fund.
