Brothers Making Beats

Manuel in the Booth

Nas and Jojo are brothers who love exploring music in all its forms. This last month, they decided to collaborate in real-time with Nas singing vocals in the booth and Jojo using the Maschine to create beats over a music loop in Ableton. Although Jojo can just barely reach the Maschine, he’s very intuitive with it and discovered some advanced tricks like using the “beat-repeat” feature.

Manuel has been a long-time studio member who brings energy and excitement to everything he does. He loves karaoke, but had never recorded himself before. This last month we worked on an original beat and Manuel has been learning to freestyle, write, and revise his lyrics to create a compelling piece of music. Look out for the first release from Dark Reyes this January!

Future Performers

Singing & Songwriting

Melissa joined her school’s band class this year and is learning to play the flute. She’s excited to get better at it and has been bringing her practice book to the studio for help with learning to read and write notation for her exercises.

Karaoke is a big hit at our studio, but not all youth get into it. Seeing kids get excited and passionate about performing music is one of the best things at N4N and karaoke is the perfect time for youth to shine and discover their love for performing.

Kyliyah has been writing her own original songs but wanted to take it up a notch this month by working on the piano melodies to go with her vocals. She’s very excited to share her creations with everyone soon!
