BHM Event Youth DJ Vday Party

Valentine’sdayputusinapartymood!Ouryouth took turns spinning and showing off their DJ skills. Each of them had a different vibe for song choices but did a great job picking tracks that the crowd would love. We look forward to throwingournextparty!

The youth did such a great job putting on a showcase of what they have learned during BHM. Each group did a performance and we also got to check out greek life from the Omegas and had an african dancer tell his story through song and dance. The youth talked about the importance of poetry and the harmonica in black music history.Weplayedtheirtrack“AGreatSomebody”

Instrument Identification Motown Magic!

Our younger youth explored all the different instruments and the families they come from. We got to listen to what each sounded like and tried to imitate the sounds. Then we picked which one was ourfavoriteandshowedhowwewouldplayit!

For our BHM project we had Keirsi Joli play some bluesy tunes on her harmonica to pair with the different age groups recorded vocal performance of “A Great Somebody”. Get a glimpse of her freestyling!

These girls were locked in on Marvin Gaye! Can you believe it! After exploring his music through the show Motown Magic, we talked about the different artists that were a major influence on the label and what artists they know from tody that are inspired by them.
